  1. I plan on getting her back on the road later this year, and am uncertain what I will do with the car. I have owned it for 13 years and have put my heart and soul into it (as well as my wallet), but more than likely I will just sell it for a tremendous loss. If I do that I might just be getting a pair of Jubs or Palladiums. Big Smile

Palladiums? What the heck is a Palladium? Oh! Klipsch has a new speaker out?

  2. I miss my Klipsch guys. Been having issues around here which are now stablized and actually something good happened to us at the end of it all in the last few days so I can breathe.

I've not listened to a spec of music off my system in several months. We disconnected it and use our low-level HK all-in one for TV. Only been listening to music in the car. It was previously sounding fantastic till Craig stole my beloved capacitors. Then once I plugged everything back in, there was a hum. I think it was my Jolida CDP. Hubby and I looked at each other in disbelief and said "screw it" and disconnected everything. I have some internal defence mechanism that kicks in every time I entertain the thought of puzzling through a fix that stops me from delving. I miss sitting down for a hard listening session. I miss music from my khorns. Just can't deal with another project yet.

I hope everyone here is well and no disasters have happened in my absence. Kisses!

  3. The 6H30 is really an audiophile sort of improvement - right along with capacitor types and topology. Not something you will notice while vacuuming the floor and listening to your stereo. If you were listening carefully and purposefully for several hours (days maybe) with some really great source material that you know very well, you'd find the 6H30 removed a few veils that the 6922 (even NOS) still leaves behind. This enhances the perception of texture and contrast. People at the next karaoke party won't know the difference - so, in other words it's "generally" a very subtle improvement of no import to most, but in an audiophile context (my own) a "major" improvement. Geeked

Hmmm? I don't know which caps you now have. You might just have to look inside. They are both branded visibly.

Meagain <---- kicking self for not acting at the time.

  4. So now - We tested the Jolida CDP - Peach - VRD combo and no sound. :) No lie. It now appears the cable is bad from Peach to ONE VRD is bad? Like - seriously? Since when? It's the connection of this cable to the VRD. Maybe the VRD connection? Trying another cable. Amazingly, did another problem just develop separate from the hum? This would not surprise me. OR....... could this Peach to VRD cable have been going bad and somehow that cable being tied to the system "created" the hum? Another cable is working. Will try to see if Hum is on HT bypass again.

  5. Take the output of the AVR that would normally be plugged into the HT IN of the Peach, and plug this pair directly into your VRD. Result?

Unplugged the HT cords from the HT in of Peach and plugged into VRDs. So the cords go from AVR to VRDs. (if that's what you mean).

Result: Still hum. AVR is turned off. Hubby just grabbed another set of cable - way worse. So - Even with AVR off - Major hum.

  6. So.... I'm trying to puzzle out a LOUD hum that developed out of nowhere. The only thing that changed was my husband put on a metal outlet cover. The hum started around that time so I thought perhaps the metal was creating some type of weird situation so I removed it. Still hum (or hum/buzz sound).

It sounds like when I had an issue 1-2 years ago with a ground loop problem that Mark Deneen helped me with by suggesting cheater plugs. But that was when I first installed some gear and it made sense. All the gear is on a Furman voltage regulator. This Furman is plugged straight into the outlet. The outlet on this circuit (now) only has a rarely used lamp on it. This outlet reads as "correct" with a "is it grounded?" tester.

This hum is only an issue when the Peach is on HT bypass. When on Hi or Lo-z, it is still there but FAR less and I can deal with it (for now).... The hum doesn't change with turning the volume on the Peach. When in HT bypass, the hum comes out of the VRDs (2 front mains). There is no hum in the center or rears. This is odd to me. When I pull out the cords from the HT bypass slots in the Peach to the Harman AVR - Hum stops. Hum is equal on both sides. OK - Husband just came home and confirmed he didn't mess around with cords, etc. ???? I'm confused as to what happened, and why the hum is only in the 2 mains. But am I looking at a cord interferance issue here? Does that sound about right? Tho' I'm perplexed as to 'why'?

    Thanks for any thoughts!

  7. Craig and I have been on speaking terms for a couple of months, we just spoke on the phone last week.

I knew you guys couldn't stay away from each other too long! [:|] Now - I'm not sure what sort of outcome I personally want here. If Craig goes to Deans house for a listen - he might think they are da bomb, in which case, my morning coffee Klipsch forum reading 'me time' goes down the crapper. If Craig goes to Deans and doesn't like them, then we lose the "you didn't hear them yet you comment" posts and again my forum enjoyment goes down the crapper. I don't know how to feel about the concept. I am ambivalent.

  8. OK Seriously... I've been away from here. Am I sensing correctly that Craig still hasn't heard Jubilees? Now tell me, it's not that far to Dean's house. Why haven't you 2 gotten together for a listen? Perfect opportunity to kiss and make up - or do that man-hug type thing.

  9. 2k? Cool! Yes, hacked could mean, just hacked to take 3rd party apps/pretty up or unlock to accept another SIM card. I ran mine basically like a hacked iPod Touch till a few days ago when I hooked it up to AT&T. Mine is hacked & unlocked despite not needing the unlock. Who - you should look into it. Amazing things can be had. I love the darned thing.

Anyway - It's very cool Klipsch created these to fit the iPhone & iPod Touch (cuz they are going to take over the world). Actually, it's been a big problem. I.e.; my husband has this fugly big goofya** adapter for his. It's appalling to me. Props Klipsch! I wish I could go back in time to the "Klipsch Fest" to listen to them again because we're convinced mine weren't set up right. My husband was smitten.

  10. Wow - these are out now. I've been away. My husband was supposed to beta test these and never followed through with it. I plan to kick his butt as soon as he wakes up in the morning.

So no adapter for iPhones. Great. I love the stock iPhone's short cord and squeeze gadget for forwarding, etc. We both have iPhones here and I'm unclear as to how we'd use them.... I'm using the stock headset, Marcus is using Shures for music but LOVED what he heard at the Pilgrimage. I think Mic capabilities would be great but would adding that detract from sound quality at all? Actually, does the cord contribute? I'm starting to have a little fantasy of putting the earpieces on the iPhone cord? ?? Well, it's exciting these are out now. I have to read up on these for sure. Which one was demo'd at the Pilgrimage again?

Who - did you hack your iPhone? I hope so!

  11. I had two of the platimums fail in my own amps over a one year period and one failed in Dave's amps so we just replaced them all.

    Craig

Yes - and of us all, mine were working perfectly. I really didn't want them changed cuz they sounded fantastic. I'm still sad about it. Craig - did they ever make new ones?

    Hi everyone! Missed you all.
