  1. + a million on the RF-15s! I loved mine when I had them. Such a fantastic little speaker. They didn't have gobs of bass like the speakers I use now do, but they were also significantly less than 1/2 the size of my current speakers. Besides, the bass could be eq'd enough to sound just right. I picked mine up off the bay for around 450 many years ago, but eventually sold them. There are days when I wish I still had them...
  2. LOL!!!! And I guess it wouldn't hurt to post the pic of my finished peerless sub...it may be a car audio sub, but a sub is a sub is a subis a subis a sub right??? At least as far as audio is concerned? Anyways, here's the final product. And yes Ear, you were very right. The SQ is amazing. It's so much better than I expected going from my DD 1508 to these, and the DD sounded damn good to begin with...
  3. Marketing, yes. Absolutely 100% true, whether that was a joke or not. I think my stereo(s) sound fantastic with everything, so maybe there's opinion in there too, but that's just my opinion...
  4. Sounds plausible. If you really wanted to try this, I would wire it up, but check the impedance with a multimeter first just to know if the impedace is high enough to not kill your amp. My 2 cents. Good luck with it.
  5. It seems to be a KSW, but I can't figure out what model. I couldn't find a KSW anywhere that only had 1 pair of high level in/outs, only 1 pair of RCA inputs, and no LFE input as well as having the port and amp not centered on the back panel as is done on every other KSW I could find...Interesting.
  6. Congrats on the subs, but what a bummer on the damaged one. If it were me, I'd still try and get a 2nd JL as one is definitely not going to produce the same volume as an RT-12D. Not really a good comparison IMO since you got one sealed woof versus ported woof...You also have to give time to let the subs break in as well as be willing to take the time to mess around with placement...
  7. Yeah Ear, if you ever feel like you absolutely have to rid yourself of a dreaded subwoofer, I'd be glad to take one or a few off your hands [] Twenty plus cans eh? They all full circumaural or just whatever you felt getting? And IMO it's not entirely fair to compare a standalone pair of 'phones like the 800s to a full assembly like the Orephus, though I guess you could if you really wanted to. You know where to get one anyways? They're not exaclty readily available...
  8. Quite quiet indeed. I guess it wouldn't hurt to chime in...just bought myself two Peerless XXLS 10CWs that are currently on buyout at PE: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=299-238 They'll be replacing my DD 1508 in my car later this month after I'm done with finals. I hope it's worth it. Still not sure what size box to put them in. Tymphany doesn't really say and the only thing I can find is from Madisound's old page (they're sold out of those drivers apparently) that recommends "1/2 to 3/4 Cubic Foot Sealed Box with 50% pillow stuffing 1.2 Cubic Foot with 3" diameter Vent by 9" long, 20% stuffing" So that's really all I got to work by. Oh well, I'll figure it out after my tests... And by the way, NICE cans you got there Ear. I got some HD555s and love them, I can only imagine how awesome the HD800s are. They're supposed to be the best in the world...
  9. Hmmm, Audax tweet eh? Mind you, I never said it was a 3 dollar tweet, but that it looked like one. You know what they say about books and covers and all... Anyways, the thing that I find most cool about this speaker is that apparently Spectrum had other designs similar to that one that they sold as point source speakers...here's a link that only mentions the tweeter arrangement, but still shows that they were out there: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59689
  10. Yeah, we can always count on JB for a laugh... Anyways, sorry that I couldn't find anything out about those. Just goes to show us that the internet is NOT the be all and end all of knowledge... Still, if they sound good and have sentimental value, I'll bet they're keepers for sure, regardless of how they look. Heck, I might just have to try makin some speakers like that some day, just for giggles...
  11. It's hard to miss the wires coming OUT from the tweeter, but where they go from there is unknown to me, unless there's a hole cut in the woofer cone somewhere......
  12. "WHOA!!!" was my first response to that picture. That is easily one of the weirdest speakers I've ever seen. I did some googling, but couldn't find anything even close to that. At the least, the tweeter (to me) looks like a kind of cheapy mylar diaphragm job kinda like these. For 300 bucks I certainly hope they sound at least half decent!!!
  13. HMMM. Ok. The guy with the $200 CWs was the same person with the $200 DCMs and he's told me they're all gone at this point. But I'm not quite sure I believe him because, mysteriously, another CL posting showed up for DCM TF-2000s and this time the asking price was $650, not $200. The reason I think that they're from the same person is because of use of terms like "cat scratch" in both postings, but maybe it's just me looking into it too much. Nevertheless, I've decided I don't really want to go too much over 400 bucks, so that cuts my possiblities way way down. Am just gonna have to keep lookin!
  14. Yeah, I didn't get the CWs. I emailed the guy as soon as I saw the posting, the day it was posted and he said they were already gone...no surprise there. I am still lookin around for something. Am seriously considering RF-25s right now....not sure though. Just a thought.
  15. Very cool! I'm bookmarking that right now. AAANND I would go see them, but, like I said, I'm in Auburn and these were on the Atlanta CL. While I'm at it, and I hope you guts don't mind me asking, but the same listing had a pair of DCM TimeFrame 2000s also for $200. Anyone know anything about these? I couldn't find much other than they're supposedly very rare, huge, and cost $2000 in 1987 or something like that...just out of curiosity, anyone know anything? Thanks!
