  1. Hey guys I'm going to be using a 2.1 system most likely and I don't want something with horrible THD. I just want something decent that pumps 100 watts per channel or so. I'm looking to buy stuff used. Any recommendations? I want to buy them cheap of course, so I'll be using ebay most likely. I don't need anything EXTREMELY good. Just something to get me by. I'm using RF-3's and I'm going to buy either a SUB-12 or an RW-12. I don't mind old stuff.
  2. i'm just curious, what receiver are you using with your F-3's? I just bought a pair of RF-3's and they are comming soon. I don't have the money yet to buy a receiver, which makes even more anxious to here my speakers, but I want to buy a decent one at least. I was thinking denon or sony. The pioneer, non-elites, looked pretty crappy.
  3. yes I did search for it. There were tons and tons of stuff about cross over or something about that. I couldn't understand it.
  4. I'm not sure what to buy. I can't afford a rsw, but I was wondering how they all rank against eachother. Like would the rsw-10 be a lot better than the ksw-15? Also and just in general ksw vs rw. Thanks
  5. So I went to best buys to go listen to some F-3's, it's a shame they didn't have any references, but anyways I was testing out the speakers and when I tested out the F-3's I couldn't hear the 8" drivers really. Right now I'm using the 5.1 ultra's and the two 8" on my current system puts out audible bass and a decent amount, at least for computer speakers. The drivers didn't seem to be moving much and until I turned on their synergy sub-12 I couldn't hear any bass. Perhaps it was because the place was wide open, but I still couldn't hear anything. All I could hear was the horn. My overall impression was that I had a lot of highs and mid highs, but not much mids, low mids, or lows from the F-3. The parts that I heard sounded great though.
  6. Hi I'm curious to find out what bi-amping does, I suppose it's just enabling it to double the wattage, and how do you set it up?
  7. Do you guys think I should buy an RB-75 or an RF-35 or perhaps even a F-3. I definately don't have enough money for an RF-7 otherwise I'd have bought it already.
  8. I'm interested in the receiver. The RB-75's, although are good, I prefer to get floor speakers. Oh yeah and I need a sound card.
  9. oh wow I didn't know that. Umm.... then can i ask what you would purchase in the ball park of 400-650? There's teh RF-35's, possibly a referb F-3 and um.... I'm not sure what there is out there to get the best bang for my buck, I would also like to ask if the new F-3's are plastic or cerametallic drivers and how much difference does that make? I hope the horn is also really good.
  10. I was reading reviews and it looked pretty good. I was wondering if any of you guys have it and how does it compare to the sub-12.
  11. I'd definately be interested in your items. Can you give me a list of them along with the pricing? I'm looking at all things such as subs, speakers, receivers, sound cards. I'm not into blasting my windows out, just quality, although power is also nice.
  12. I usually don't do much gaming and I honestly don't plan to buy a 5.1 for at least a year or so. I just want a good 2.1 system. Oh yeah as for the Aurilium, I only purchased it because I had a laptop and it was around $30 on amazon so I just bought it for the heck of it. And yes, I do notice that the Aurilium is a pos. It distorts quite badly when you turn the preamp on high on 30% of instrumental songs. I do play games here and there like World of Warcraft and such, but for the most part, no. Sorry I'm rather rambling. Long day, little sleep, etc. Oh yeah, how much difference does a receiver make? I'm budgeted on the lower side and I'm focusing more on speakers as of now. I'm willing to spend about 200-300 or so on a receiver, used of course, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  13. oh man if i only need an audigy 2zs that'd be great. I personally don't want to drop like $400 on creatives new x-fi's soundcard. I actually was intending to buy a Pioneer VSX0815-K receiver. That's the specs I found on audioholics.com or something like that. I know someone who's willing to sell them to me for $200 new. Also when you mean by digital out, do you mean the 3 1/8 stereo wires (green, orange, and black) or the fiber optical inputs? I have the optical outputs on my current sound card (Philips Aurilium). And as for the setup I'm planning to use RF-3's or RF-35's with a sub. I'll be running a 2.1 system for a while until I can purchase the other components and eventually have a 5.1 system. 14. This sounds like an obvious answer, but I'm wonder how much difference is there? Getting an RF-3 seems a bit hard to get in my area, without using ebay, so I was pondering buying the F-3's.
  15. Hey guys I was wondering how do you connect your HT speakers to your computer? I'm planning on buying some RF-3's or RF-35's. I'm not sure of the receiver and sound card and such. I was reading about the dts-610 that creative made that supposedly bridges the two, but can just the sound card do it?
  16. If so please tell me the price and condition. Thanks
  17. Hey guys I was wondering how are the mids and highs that are produced by the speakers. Are the 8" just to serve as bass or do they also contribute to the mids and the highs? I always thought you should have like a 8" and like a 5" and a horn or something like that where you have a few speakers that range in size. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to go out and pay a pretty penny if I'm doing things wrong.
  18. how od you guys feel about the infinity PS-12? It looks good but i'm not too sure.
  19. Hey guys if your interested in selling yours, please email me at kshiozak@ucsd.edu or write back on this post with your price, model, and hopefully a few pictures. I'm located in San Diego and Los Angeles. If you live farther and would still like to sell yours, I'd gladly do buisness with you, but it will have to be through ebay and paypal. Thanks. *I'm excited to hopefully get some good speakers*
  20. Well what I'm trying to do right now is get a pair of RF-3's or RF-35's depending on what deals I can get. I honestly don't know anything about home audio so I'm just starting to get into it. Although this sounds kind of ghetto, I'm planning on buying the front right and left and keep it on 2.1 mode until I eventually have the money to buy the other speakers. I was looking into something like the infinity ps-12. I don't know how good it is, I just need something that works pretty decent. I'm running on the promedia 5.1 ultras and it's about time I outgrew them.
  21. I'm a college student and I live in the LA area and go to school in San Diego, both of which are located in California. If you have any of these three speakers, please post or email me with the model, your price, and a picture. Thank you. My email is kshiozak@ucsd.edu
  22. I'm looking for a decent used one and I was wondering what would be the best for the budget. I'm not sure what's the different between the rw and ksw and the other lines of subs.
  23. Hi I'd like the know the approximate price for a decent deal on used RF-3's and RF-35's. Thanks
