    Klipsch

I agree, the reference series are like a completely different line of speakers from the ones you can find at best buy. Of course, even those are far better then anything else at best buy, the Bose cost more, but blech what lousy mids and lows.... I don't understand why people have fallen for all the Bose Hype. Anyway, back on subject, the reference series is terrific. If you are willing to shop online, you could find some nice used or Klipsch Reman RF-35, RC-35, RS-35 series and get all of them for your budget. That would be a fantastic setup. But, its just my opinion, and everyones ears are different.
  2. NAD C162/C272 + Klipsch RB-3/SC-3/SB-3 Speakers. They are not yet here, waiting for shipping so I haven't got to hear them yet. This is my new setup, purchased all the products off of eBay (stole the nearly new NAD's for $600 only about 5 hours use). After lots of research I think I have a really nice introductory home theater setup... now for the monitor... What do you guys think?
  3. Thanks, I will contact UPS about this. I got an email from Klipsch support and the unfortunately the plastic ring is a sealed part of the speaker... so I guess I am going to need a new K-1085-SV 6.5" cone Any suggestions on where I could find one? I asked how much one would be from Klipsch, cringing at the thought.... I just dont see any way to repair this thing
  4. Thanks for the information Bob, yep, this must have happened in shipping, it was with UPS and unfortunately we didn't have it insured. I actually took a TORX wrench to it yesterday and removed all 4 screws, as I pulled the speaker out a bunch of little broken fragments fell out from behind where each screw seated into the speaker. So 3/4 of the plastic attachment points are destroyed. It looks like the plastic ring is actually glued or sealed onto the speaker itself? If that is not the case then "AMEN"!! I will give your guys a call to see what can be done. It also broke all 4 pegs that were holding the screen cover on... does Klipsch still sell those screens for the RC-3?
  5. 10 views and no replies... I think I am hosed...
  6. I purchased an RC-3 off of eBay but after it was shipped to my house it broke the right speaker (I believe this happened when shipping - no insurance offered). The plastic outer ring (that has the TORX screws to hold it in place) was shattered where the screws go in. Of the 4 torx screws only 1 still has solid plastic behind it. What can I do? It appears that the speaker itself is glued to the plastic support ring, so I think in order to fix this I will need an entirely new speaker!! ugh.... depression is setting in, please help with advice....
  7. I have been following the RB-35 auctions on eBay, seems like they continue to sell for quite a bit, how much were they retail so I know what I am looking for? The new replacement for the RB-35 is the RB-81 or RB-61? Thanks for the help?
  8. I agree, no bargains to be had on eBay right now, everyone has their tax return burning holes in their pockets. I have purchased an RC-3 and a pair of RS-35's in the past week, still shopping for some RB-35's or RB-61's... But, my reason for the post is my confusion, it is my understanding that the RB-61's actually replace the RB-35's and not the RB-25's.... The replacement for the RB-25's is actually the RB-51. Is this not true>?
  9. Outstanding explanation guys, I completely understand now. Yep, sounds like getting replacement straps should be no biggie. Thank you thank you thank you for the help Roger L
  10. LOL, you guys are awesome.... now if I only understood what you were saying... can you tell I am a newbie to the audiophile world? Give me this much, at least I chose the right brand of speakers right? So, now that we got that behind us what in the world are you talking about? I am putting together a new surround system in my guest house. Planning a -35 or -3 system with center, bookshelves and surrounds. I am running a Yammie HTR-5560 right now, may get another one later. I have a decent 12 inch sub already. So, for that application, will I need those straps?
  11. Thanks for the info, I guess I don't understand if it doesn't matter, then why did Klipsch design them? You have 4 KLF-20's??!!!! Can you say jealous!! Very nice
  12. I am assuming these are the brass strap jumpers, but what is their purpose?
  13. I am looking at buying an SC-3 and the current owner states: "Note: I do not have the original gold plated shorting straps as I used this speaker bi-wired" What does that mean? Roger L
  14. I am choosing between the following 2 setups, any significant differences? Which would you choose? Why? 1) RC-3, RS-3 x 2, RB-5 x 2 (sub to be determined) This is the matched set. 2) RC-35, RS-35 x 2, RB-35 x 2 (sub to be determined) What do you think? Very much difference between the two? Thanks for your help, I am trying to choose....
  15. I am wondering if you can mix similar speaker lines when putting together a system... Specifically the -35 series mixed with the older -3 series. ie. RC-3, RS-3, RB-35.... or some other variation of those....?
  16. Are these basically the same speakers just different production years? Comparing the specs they appear similar by the numbers. Thanks gang
