Well, I will be able to answer my own question in a couple of weeks (will post here so the answer is searchable for others) when my new RF-83 Cherry finish speakers arrive.[]

RF-7s are officially returned; dealer called today and advised that I should just go with another option, so I now have a pair of RF-83 Cherry finishes on order. []

I'll probably go with the Cherry finish and risk it since black looks so dull to me. lol

They look a little bit lighter in color than my RF-7s and the are for sure a different grain... I put yours next to a photo of mine: [] And I paid retail on the RF-7s from my local dealer.

So is there much difference in color/tone between the Cherry finish on the RF-7 and the RF-83? My RF-7's matched my furniture perfectly, but I plan to change to the new RF-83s, but my local dealer doesn't have any of the new series in stock so I can't compare the finishes. If the Cherry is the same as the RF-7, I'm going with that finish, otherwise I may have to go with black.

So I took them to the dealer today and they removed the horn so we could see inside. Turns out the crack indeed ran completely through the baffle and all the way up to the corner inside. Additionally, the driver had slightly broken free from the horn at the start of the "throat". My sales rep is going to check Monday with Klipsch and see if they will replace the cabinet and horn, if not they're going to let me have credit towards whatever other model I choose to go with. So I'm sorta curious if the newer series cherry finish is like the RF-7s, or the lighter color like the RF-35 series were. The RF-7s matched my furnture perfectly, anything lighter would not. Also, the 83s are a lot more than that I had in the RF-7s, which is not cool. Actually I would be more in the price range of the 63s or 82s (get money back that way actually) unless I spend more... This isn't cool at all, lol.

Yes, I completely agree at this point. It has to be shipping damage and I am taking them in to my dealer this evening to see what they say. Hopefully they can call Klipsch while I'm there to determine if they can get me a new cabinet, if not, then it's refund time. I'm fairly certain that with the damage on the baffle, that the horn inside is broken away slightly from the driver at the throat, I've seen it happen many times before. The odd thing is that the dealer acted like they'd never heard of shipping damage to the horns; which makes me believe my dealer moves little to no product. []

And yeah, I love my Luxman. It's ancient and still going strong, considering it only powered my Cornwalls up until now so I wasn't pushing a lot of power through it all those years. []
