  1. So, I think i'm going to take my 15" dayton out of my car and use it for home theater. Box size isn't that big of a deal, it can be reasonably large (less than 4ftcubed), tall would be the best dimension. Specs are: Power
    handling: 500 watts RMS/800 watts max * VCdia: 2-1/2" * Le: 1.00 mH *
    Impedance: 4 ohms * Re: 3.3 ohms * Frequency range: 18 - 800 Hz * Fs:
    18 Hz * Magnet weight: 150 oz. * SPL: 90 dB 2.83 V/1m, 87 dB 1W/1m *
    Vas: 9.95 cu. ft. * Qms: 3.10 * Qes: .49 * Qts: .42 * Xmax: 14mm *
    Dimensions: A: 15-5/16", B: 14-1/8", C: 6-1/8". Can anyone help me with a design please? My box knowledge is very limited. Also would you go ported or sealed?

  2. i've only got my rf-5's so far so i'm running 2 channel stereo, sounds is excellent. yamaha is an excellent value; this is from an audioholics review for the 659:

    "At full continuous unclipped power (132wpc x 1;
    8 ohms, 120wpc x 2; 8 ohms;
    full bandwidth with less than 0.1% THD+N), the RX-V659 still maintained
    excellent bandwidth linearity with a -3dB point of 65kHz despite we
    were driving the receiver way beyond its rated 100wpc power
    specification.
    Into 4 ohms, the RX-V659 was able to deliver continuous power levels at
    a whopping 200wpc x 1 and 170wpc x 2 with less than 0.1% THD + N.
    The amplifier section of this receiver is truly underrated.
    I never encountered a budget A/V surround receiver that could deliver
    this kind of power before.
    Truly amazing."

  3. So my brother just is getting into audio, and he bought a tube amp with l/r rca inputs. He got 2 klipsch bookshelf speakers as well. My question is how does he run a signal to a subwoofer when he gets one? All help is appreciated, thanks!

  4. I'm looking for a headphone amp (tube much prefered) between $50-300. I've found little dot MKs on ebay and seem pretty good. I'm using sennheiser hd595. Recomenadtions please!

  5. Hi, i'm posting my questions in this folder since I got no responses in the subwoofer folder. I'm going to be installing a subwoofer in my car and I have some
    questions you guys should be able to answer. I'm going to be getting this subwoofer
    (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-468)
    and i'm wondering if a 1.5-2.0 cubic foot box would be big enough and
    also if you would recomend going sealed or ported. Would sealed reduce
    rattle because less air is moving around? What effect would too small
    of a box have on it? All responses are very appreciated. Thanks in
    advance

  6. I'm going to be installing a subwoofer in my car and I have some questions you guys should be able to answer here but i'm not sure if this is the right folder. 7. Thanks for all the helpful replies. It's still pretty confusing not knowing which amps are good but as time goes on i'm sure i'll get an idea of which one to get. I'm liking the TAD-60 a lot. I found one on ebay for 900 but it will be gone by the time i'll have that to blow. [:(]

  8. New or used. (i'm not looking to spend much, <700 if possible). I'm not sure what you mean by integrated or power amp. Is amp just stereo rca inputs and power outputs? It doesnt have to be american if it sounds nice. And power shouldnt be a big issue since the rf-5s are pretty efficent at 99db/1watt and I probably wont crank them. Thanks for the help; i'm very new to tube amps (the mcintosh was the first i've played with)

  9. I'm looking for a reasonably priced stereo tube amp for my rf-5s. I don't know who makes a decent one but I listened to them on my friends McIntosh 225 and I liked the way they sounded. Any recomendations please?

  10. As much as i'd like to get something with 100+wpc (I think the Yamaha is 100wpc) money will be the biggest issue. They wont be played above 100db ever i'd say so i'm not sure if i'd even need that kind of power to get them rocking. Will higher wpc make them sound more dynamic at lower levels?

  11. Ok, sounds like I should go with an HK receiver then. My only concern is that some specs say the avr-247 is 50wpc and some say 85wpc. I'm sure even 50watts will be enough as I Probably wont be listening to them at any excessive volume level. With the RF-5s being so efficent do you think 50wpc is enough?
