  1. Many posts mention the Klipsch DD 5.1 and the Creative DDTS-100. I suspect there are other devices that would work. It would be great to get a comprehensive listing. Seems like there's demand for them. Anyone know if this would work http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150545879756&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNAFP:US:1123
  2. Yeah...thought about that. I'll probably try the sats with my receiver. As far as the sub goes, I've had several different models and none are as punchy and satisfying as the PMU sub. The Mirage MX system is very nice and very elegant. The sats are tiny and the sub is an 8x8x8 cube with a 6.75" sub and 2 passive radiators but gives really big sound in a moderate size room. I like my PMU better though.
  3. Thanks for the references. I may just get that adventuresome although electronics is really not my forte` But I do love this system and really want it working again.
  4. Any luck finding an alternative to the DD-5.1 or the DDTS-100? I saw a post about a product from Teufel but not sure they have what's needed. I sent an email to the company. We'll see. This is the first I've seen mention of the NeoCINEMA. Anyone have experience using that product with the PMU 5.1?
  5. I'm confused. Are you trying to use your PMU 5.1s with a non-PC source (like a stereo receiver, etc)? Were you successful? I'm under the impression the only way to do that is to get a digital decoder like the Klipsch DD-5.1 or the Creative DDTS-100 (both of which are discontinued). Am I missing something?
  6. I got the PMU 5.1 from Dell back in 2005 when I purchased my XPS Gen4 dream system. I often leave the entire system on for days. In 2009 I began to hear crackling/popping both when I was listening to something and when the system was idle (espcially noticable when idle). Eventually the subwoofer just quit altogether. However, the 5 satelites still work fine. So now I've basically got a 5.0 system. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions. I really love the sound of this system. I not heard anything that comes close to it (for the price). I just bought myself a Christmas present (Mirage MX) for my home theatre. They sound great but can't touch the PMU what I really want to do (and what I've wanted to do for years) is hook my PMU 5.1s up to the home theatre. Like many others, I've been searching for a DD-5.1 or DDTS-100 (but that's for another post). Regards and Happy New Year.
  7. Unfortunately I'm not finding either the DD5.1 or the DTS100 anywhere. Here's what I want to do. Only 1 A/V source - Samsung HD845 DVD player. Will use optical out to decoder and connect my ProMedia Ultras to the decoder. Any thoughts? Do I need special connectors? Jim USA
  8. I bought the ProMedia Ultra 5.1s with my Dell XPS 18 months ago and I love them. But I just picked up a new toy (an LCD HDTV) and being rather short on cash at the moment, I'm wondering if there is a way for me to use the ProMedia system with my TV/DVD player rather than with my PC. I'm guessing that if it's possible, there is something I need to purchase to decode the DTS signal (in place of my Audigy sound card). Does such a stand alone devise exist?
