  2. Actually, Busa, we need help taking orders. Thanks for your input, as usual. Thingy, Send me another email, please! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  3. edy, Swap the green and purple plugs in the soundcard to determine if the problem is with the soundcard or connection. If the problem moves to the front right speakers, it's soundcard related. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  4. Justin is correct; the failure rate on all our ProMedia's is very low (with the exception of the first batch of 5.1s shipped last summer/early fall). Anytime a company maintains a bulletin board, especially with electronics, there is a skewed perception of how many defective units are actually circulating. People with no problems rarely visit a bulletin board. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  5. The gain in the rear speakers is higher, which would be why you can't hear the hiss from the front speakers as well. If you can only hear it from about 1ft away, then this is normal "white noise" and nothing to be concerned about. I usually can respond to email within 24 hours, but I've been training 2 new people this week (yea!) and it's put me a little behind. I'm going to do my best to be caught up before the weekend. Some people have complained that their emails to me have been undeliverable....If this is the case with anyone, try amy.platt@klipsch.com or promediatech@klipsch.com Thanks! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  6. That is cool, justin! You're so talented. It's pronounced "Clip-shh." ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  7. You can call our return/repair dept at 800-554-7724 option 5 to inquire about a repair. Thanks! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  8. Did you plug the purple cable into the front output of your soundcard, just to rule out soundcard feedback? Send me an email if you continue to have trouble. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  9. Alienware has not dropped the ProMedias. Please cite your source. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  10. kaplan, Sorry about the trouble you're having. I do have your email... We are not open over the weekends--sorry about the delay. I'd recommend exchanging the amp and the 2 satellites that seems to be affected. Contact returns at 800-554-7724 option 5, or email shelly.acrey@klipsch.com and request a call tag for the package, so you do not have to pay shipping on the bad replacement. I'll also forward Shelly the email you sent me. Let me know if you need futher help! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  11. The RA dept. number is actually different: 800-554-7724 option 5 ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  12. The failure rate on the ProMedia's is very, very low. Otherwise, we would discontinue selling them. When a problem does arise, we admit to it and fix it. Everyone is taken care of to the best of our abilities. Vatican3, No one is "instructing" me to say anything. What I post on the bulletin board is me being honest--it has been for a year and a half. I understand you had a bad experience, and I'm sorry for it. But to call the ProMedias a "fiasco" is not only false, but unwarranted and unfair. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  13. Mike Trin has been taken care of quite a while ago. Customers who own the speakers and do not have problems rarely post here, unless they need other advice. Perhaps he'll visit soon and give us an update... ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  14. Dan, The emails I receive inquiring about the status of returns, I usually forward on to the returns department. I apologize if you have not heard back. Send me an email again, and I'll look into it further. Thanks! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  15. When there's a channel out on the 4.1s, it could be one of four things: a loose connection to the soundcard, the volume control pod wiring, the sub channel, or the soundcard. Try this test to help determine: Switch the green and purple plugs in the soundcard. If the problem stays with the speaker plugged into the rear left channel of the sub, then the problem is in the sub or control pod. If the problem moves to a different speaker, the the problem is with the soundcard (try reinstalling the drivers). If the problem is fixed, then it was a loose connection. Let me know! ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  16. Windows XP will automatically default your soundcard drivers to 2 channel. What you need to do is completely reinstall the soundblaster drivers FROM THE CD ROM, then install the XP update from www.soundblaster.com. You must do both. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  17. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as defensive. I'm just trying to address issues that keep coming up. Yes, they are manufactured in China. I don't know the answer to the second part of your question. I'm sure there's domestic content, but I can't tell you what or how much. I'm not involved in the builing of these. I'm addressing the questions as best I can, Big Bean. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  18. BigBusa, I'm beginnnig to have the same response for your arguments that you try to make over and over...I'll just copy and paste: I'll ask again, do you honestly think we would still carry the ProMedia line if they all failed?? Or if 30%, 20% or even 10% failed?? Ludicrous. And do you honestly think we'd continue to have a bulletin board available as an open forum if the failure rate was that high? We would have negative posts in the 10's of thousands. Your logic (?) astounds me. Krugar (and anyone else with XP), This is a common issue when running win xp... the installation of xp will automatically default soundcards driver to 2 channel. You must completely reinstall the soundblaster drivers FROM THE CD ROM --as you discovered--(which is not available on their website), then ALSO install the Win XP update patch from their website. Hope that helps. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  19. Please contact customer service at 888-554-5665. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  20. Yes, they are all checked. Unfortunately, shipping damaged can be a concern. Send me an email... ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  21. Hi Dan, I'm very sorry for your experience. I don't recall receiving an email from you, for whatever reason, however. Please resend to amy.platt@klipsch.com and I'll take care of you first thing Wednesday morning. Please put your name in the subject line so I can pick it out easily! Please include information as to when/where you purchased the speakers, and where you received your replacement. Thank you. And again, I apologize for your ordeal. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  22. BigBusa, I'll ask again, do you honestly think we would still carry the ProMedia line if they all failed?? Or if 30%, 20% or even 10% failed?? Ludicrous. And do you honestly think we'd continue to have a bulletin board available as an open forum if the failure rate was that high? We would have negative posts in the 10's of thousands. Your logic (?) astounds me. Creacher, I can't explain what was going on with the floor samples. 9 times out of 10, you can bet the soundcard settings are wrong, however, or the system has been misused in some way. Also, the ProMedias are analog... If another display has digital speakers and you try the ProMedias on the same set up, they will not work properly unless you change the settings to analog. Those are just theories... I can't know for sure unless someone at Best Buy actually contacts me to get an answer (which none have ever done for a floor sample). ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  23. The 5.1s have serial number, the 4.1s and 2.1s do not. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  24. Vatican3, You know I can't apologize enough for your bad experience, and I really do sympathize with you... but you must know how rare it has been for customers to receive one bad set after another, as you have. Usually when it does happen, the failure has been a result of exchanges from the same batch, bad wiring in a house or dorm, or misuse of some sort (not to accuse you of that at all)... If we really had one failure after another, do you honestly think we could continue this product line?? And do you honestly think we would continue this bulletin board?? We appreciate all feedback, but please keep this in perspective. ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
  25. Unfortunately, there are still a few units out there with the bad transistors...however, we have not been manufacuturing them for many months. We will certainly take care of anyone with an affected unit purchased from an authorized dealer. There will be a post every so often (out of thousands sold) from someone with this problem. Again, please keep this in perspective. Quale, Please send me an email about this problem. Thanks, ------------------ Amy ProMedia Tech Support promediatech@klipsch.com
