  1. Morning Dave,

You're not the first. I moved into an apartment a couple of years ago when my dad got sick. I strapped down my Panasonic RP and during the move the screens broke from overtightening the straps. Good move on my part eh?

Ok, I called around to some TV repair shops and found a used one here in Indy. It wasn't the correct size. I called around to a couple of glass repair shops and found one that would cut the screens to size. They put them on the work table, marked the size, and cut them without a problem. Brought them back here, Installed them, cleaned the lenses and mirrors. Like new picture. Total cost: $60

Six months later the Blue color gun went bad. I trashed the tv. The guns were $225 each X 3.

There's a bunch of RP's sitting in shops with bad color guns. I'll bet if you call around you can find a used one.

Check the web for something like "Fix your own TV". They might have the parts available. There was a post a couple of months ago is how I know about it.

  2. One of my PS400's had that same issue. I had to put it on a different power outlet to eliminate the hum. Move the amp power cord and hook up source components one at a time. also make sure your speaker wires are not close to the power cord on the amp. Too many items on the same outlet can cause noise also. You may have to seperate power feeds to your components.

  3. I had the same problem when I got mine. I took it back where I got it and it worked fine at the store. It was my Satellite receiver. (DirecTV)

Change signal source and see if the problem persists. Then decide to take it back or not. You can do a google search for common problems with tv's. I bought a 1 year old used Mitsubishi about 6 weeks ago with a problem. I searched and found something like "FIX YOUR OWN TV" websight. They have hundreds of models listed with common problems and the fixes. They even have Live Tech Help in some cases.

    Good luck,

  4. Yo Bro !!!!

It's gotta be global warming or something else. There ain't no down side to them tubes!!

Turn on the A/C and "don't sweat it"

I've got so many glowing tubes on one of the walls I got rid of a lamp..... My girlfriend is so dumb She thinks it's a tanning bed..... I got a stick and bought a bag of marshmallows...... "No it's not neon lights, it's my stereo"... "I have to rotate my head every 15 minutes so my tan stays even"..

  5. Definitely do the upgrade on the Crossovers. BIG difference. I'm running the Crites CT125 tweets and Love them.I'm using Bob's parts mostly in my crossovers. I'm also using his cast frame woofers that replace the K-33. I listen at all levels. Low to extremely loud. No weak spots in the Crites. Anywhere. Everyone has different tastes and hearing.

Want more? This audio stuff always has left me wanting more, better, best.

  6. DOC,

Want some advice from a deaf old fart? I've had 4 back surgeries, a dozen different chiropractors, taken every type of pain pill and muscle relaxant. Stay away from the Ibuprophen as much as possible. Since the injury is more than a couple of days old: Before bed take a nice long warm shower concentrating on your full back. When you lay down prop pillows under your upper legs and prop a pillow on its side letting it curl around your neck. While laying on your back the pillows under your legs and around your neck will be like light traction. While you sleep you relax and this will help stretch out the muscles and let your back align itself. I've been doing this for about 20 years and it's basically eliminated the need for chiropractic. The only time I see my chiropractor is to loosen up the muscles before a big golf game with the guys. It's basically stretching and a massage. It makes it a lot easier to loosen up and warm up before the 1st tee up.

Hope you feel better man. Take care of your back. You might think you're invincible but trust me. We all think that until it's too late. That youthful immortality will disappear about 15 years from now. You're too young to cripple yourself up kid. You have to be fairly smart. Don't act stupid. Heal up and watch what you're doing.

    Best at ya,

  7. I shouldn't get started on DirectTV. Horrible, lousy, crooks, inept, .........................

I had directTV for a year. In that year they were here on 12 service calls. No service signals, lousy equipment, incompetent service people. I had service less than half the time I was with them. Oh, and my TV was pixelizing with black squares on the darker screens. They had the nerve to tell me it was my new TV. While the tech rep was here, I drug the TV out of my sons room and swapped the cable to it. SAME THING. Then I went to my bedroom and got my 26" older tv out and plugged it up to the dish. SAME THING. He had the nerve to tell me I had 3 defective TVs. After the 12th service call with the 7th new box and listening to their crap I asked/TOLD the tech to get his A$$ out of my house FAST.

10 minutes later I was on the phone to Dish Network. 3 days later I had full service including HDTV Dish Network in my home. It's been almost a year now and I have had ZERO problems. Perfect picture and excellent products. Oh, BTW, same 3 bad tv's. Yea right!

What do I have to say about DirectV? Same thing I told their attys when they want me to give them the $246.00 balance on my contract. GO F>>urelv.

Just my experience with them though.

My mom had DirecTV come out and they told her they couldn't put up the dish because of the trees. I called Dish Network, a couple of days later she has Dish also. Works great. She just hasn't figured out the remote. Still griping about it.

I have absolutely nothing good to say about DirecTV.

  8. Tim,

Excellent decision on this tube thingy!!! Have no fears with tubes. How much you willing to spend? The money part is important but just equally important as what kind of music you listen to mostly. Amps have their own charastics of sound. I'm sure someone on the forum has something nice in your price range that will fill your wants/needs. Integrateds are nice. I personally like seperates. Easier to play with when you roll around tubes. Besides tubes glowing around the room are kinda like candles. Now That's Sexy!!

If you're thinking used, I'd buy from someone you know that's honest and will tell you about any issues or if anything should be done to it/them. Stick to this forum if possible. Great people willing to help in our little community.

  9. I'm selling off a few of my personal items to help pay for my new preamp.

These are in the Black Satin Veneer, twin 10" woofs and the big Tratrix horn on top. Sound new. Excellent condition, I can ship or hold for a member to pick up at the Pilgrimage if needed. I got them out today. They've been in my closet for over a year. I'd forgot about them until today when I was putting up the winter coats. I guess I've got way too much audio equipment tucked away.

I'd also consider trading them for good equipment. $375 or best trade/offer + shipping. Shipping between$60 and $120 to the west coast for the pair. Insured and packed VERY securely.

  11. AVG, Adaware SE Personal, Spybot. All free. No pc problems except an Idiot (friend) sent me 200 pics in a row and locked up my Outlook Express.

Nothing is 100% effective. I've had no problems and I pay nothing for free protection through these companies. I do however keep close watch on my PC adventures.

  12. lol....Mexican.......remember the big "paraquat" scare?

I don't remember much at all. Maybe that's the problem here. Nowadays water is higher than gasoline, Coke comes in plastic jugs, cigarette taxes are funding the CIA instead of South American drug money. Teachers ain't allowed to knock the heck out of your mouthy kid and you can't either for fear of going to jail. Everything you eat causes cancer, the news media has no conception of the truth, 6 channels 6 different versions. Holy ^!#&% Batman. Did you see that new SS amp selling for 20K? Yea, but it still sounds like SS. What's happening here? Watch out all, I'm voting this time just as soon as the bars open.

  13. I think the JJs are the tall ones. They have a killer sound to them. I bought a couple of quads of the long and short ones about 2 months ago. They were a Chinese tube made for some other company tag. I found them on Ebay for $39.95 for each quad. New manufacturer. They also sounded good. I put them In a Heathkit AA-100? if I remember correctly. The taller ones would have fit but they were almost touching the top of the case and I had to be very careful putting the lid back on. I could look up the name on them but the point is they have started making them again.

  14. Easy one here. MC75 Mac and the McAlister PP-150. Different flavors but both with beautiful and strong sound. It's a toss up. The Mac might be a bit smoother but the McAlister has unrivaled range and outstanding bass.

IMO. That and a buck will get you a small coffee.

  15. I had a pair of them about 6 months ago. I didn't keep them long. I thought they were a little noisy for my tastes. They had a bit too much back ground noise in them. Even without a signal. I changed around the wires and IC cables to no avail. The guy that bought them is happy with them though. I might be a bit picky. I like 'em quiet.

I had the dared pre also. not bad for the money.

I had intended to keep them but They just fell a little short of what I expected.

I've been on a tube amp frenzy lately and listened to approximately 2 dozen different amps or so.
