  5. Thank's for the help everyone, but I have chose Mr. Al's universals....... Dr Who, from what I have read, It seems that there are advantages to going active. But in the hands of a novice "me" I am shure I would let the magic smoke out of my speakers. I have an aweful lot to learn. Thank's again!!

Thank"s guy's I am weighing the posibility of maybe trying to build al-k's universal I dont have alot of book smart's but do have a fair amount of common sence. my first shot at building a big block vega wagon went low low 10's, I also turned all the wrenches on my turbocharged 2001 suzuki hayabusa!!
  8. iI' m not trying to start a fude but I'm fixing to buy some crossovers for my La scala's I mostly listen to rock-roll. Both guys's seem very nice too me. And I hate to get either mad made at me.Concering the type of musicI I listen to witch one wold be better for me? mr.Bob's al-3 or mr Al alk's. I'm shure I'll be doing plenty buessniess with the both of them!!! Thank You!!!!
  9. Soundbound!! I have been a member at decware for some time now, Mr. Steve is a very good guy to deal with. In time I plan on building his version of the imperial, but I must admit the horn flare's he builds out of wood look's a little scary, I'm not shure if my wood working skills or up to it!! LOL!
  10. Wow!! Daddy dee, Speakerfritz, mungkiman, Mr.Mcdermott, and Frzinvt, Thank you for your all the great information!! I'm most shure he said it was the more sought after S K'S. He used to own his own audio store and said it was time to get rid of all the extra gear he's collected over the years. He's supposed to email some pictures of the S K's and some Mcintosh amp's wich he said was all in great shape and in working order!! And if they look anything like the Lascalas it will be a go! Again thank you for your input and time!
  11. Thank's for the heads up on the Lascalas Daddy Dee!! Already talked to mr. Bob. As soon as they come in I'll get back with him so he can tell me wich one's would be best for me!! Thank's again!!!
  12. Anyone interested Imperials should have a look at Steve Decert's site "decware" he's even got improved plans to build the Imperials!! I built some folded sub cabinets from his site that are very impressive!!
  13. Has anyone A-B tested Speakerlab Khorns against Klipsch Khorns? my Lascalas or comming in next week, but I also have a chance to pick up a real nice set of the speakerlab khorns at the same time for a very good price! will they sound better than my Lascalas? and what would be a fair price to pay for them?? I have a choice he said I could not buy the Lascalas and just buy the Speakerlab Khorns, but i really had my heart set on the Lascalas. Maybe I'll get them both!!
  14. ha ha ha you guy's crack me up!! your alright in my book. Well it look's like the La scala's are mine, so i'm off on another journey and it's like I have ants in my pants!! so you can add La scala's to my list at the bottom!!! it will be a few weeks before I can get'um here, but it's been a life long dreame of mine to have a set!!!!!! Thanks to all who responded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I recoup a little more money I'll let Mr. Bob do his thing and get a set of the big crossovers!!!
  15. LOL! LOL!! Your right Plummer!!! I was thinking about keeping solid state for the low end, and getting some tube gear for the mid's and high's.
  16. How much trouble would it be to mount grills on the older model La scalas? can they be bought? and would it decrease the value?
  17. Well I have two set's of rf-7's and two of Mr. Steve Decart's (Decware) wicked ones for sub's. But I think natural Is what i'm missing, Also I maybe hearing something I dont really care for comming from the adcom gear I am using to push everything, one of my adcom gfa555 has had alot of work done by musical concept. But I also want to try some tube gear, wich I have a mcintosh tube amp comming, a friend had one givin to him and he's giveing it to me (not shure on the model yet) I do know that if you catch a bad recording the RF-7's will let you know about it!! I think I will try to get the la scala's just to try, I already know the crossover's need to be sent to Mr.Bob to be freshend up, I have always wanted a set of la scala's anyway. Thank's
  18. Anyone ever do an a-b test? I have two set's of rf-7's and have a chance to buy a nice set of 1985 la scala's and I'm not shure if I should get them or not. These or for music only. Thank's in advance!
  19. Sorry zuzu! Yes I will have to melt the solder to disconnect them.
  20. Not shure Wrench722 but I can tell you this, these are some pretty nice speakers to have a connection that fell off upon delivery and when I opened them up there were a couple more connections barely hanging on. Now I have no doubt!!
  21. Thank's for the head's up zuzu!!
  22. Hey Soundbound those are awesom looking!! I was drooling on my keyboard the other day looking at those bad boy's! Also wishing I had some extra cash! do they sound as good as they look? and how hard was the build? Also where did you get the plans for the a7's? I have been looking at decware's plan's for the jensen Imperal's. Thank's!!!!
  23. I fully agree with Wuzzzer these speakers really wake up when you feed-um some power!!!
