  1. thanks guys for the help. I'll let you guys know how it turns out!
  2. Okay, so this is kind of a strange question. I used to have a rear projection tv which allowed me to use an Omni center channel mount which would sit on top of the tv and rest against the body. I've recently bought a Kuro and can no longer put the center channel on top. So I can either by a wall bracket for the center channel right above where the tv is, or I can buy a new tv stand altogether which will allow me to mount the tv on the bracket and place the center channel right below. The problem is, I am getting my Audio and Video ISF calibrated next month, and the man says that center channel placement is very important and to put it below the tv. Below the the tv would require the new tv stand option, but would put the center channel at ear level. If i go with the wall bracket option above the tv, it will put the center channel 2 feet or so above ear level. Shouldnt he be able to make it sound about the same either way when he's calibrating the sound? The distance from the couch will be almost the same in either position, it just wont be at ear level. The surrounds and front left and right are about at ear level as well. I guess im just looking for some advice as to how big of a deal this is since the new stand is a lot more expensive. If i mount the center on the wall i believe i can angle the speaker downward so it is angled right towards the couch as opposed to going straight out. Does anyone have any experience with professional audio calibration, or know if this will matter? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the center channel is a Klipsch C-3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Okay, so my lowpass frequeny on the back of the sub has a range of 40-120 Hz. You're saying I should set lowpass at 120 then?
  4. Okay, so I have the F3, C3, S3, and Sub 12 speakers in my setup. I read on audioholics.com that they recommend you set the crossover frequency of each speaker to 10hz higher than the lowest it will accept. So this gives me roughly: Front L&R - 40Hz (35Hz - 23kHz +/-3dB) Center - 80Hz (73Hz - 23kHz +/-3dB) Surround - 80Hz (62Hz - 23kHz +/-3dB) LFE - 80Hz (24-120Hz +/-3dB) I also have the speaker size set to Small even though these are pretty big speakers. There is also a setting on the back of my Sub for Lowpass Frequency. I'm not sure how that differs from crossover, but I believe I have that set to about 60Hz. It seems as if I can only adjust the frequency in increments of 10 inside the receiver. Any help or comments about my settings would be greatly appreciated. Just want to get everything balanced just right =)
  5. Okay, this is going to be hard to explain but i'll try my best. I have a Denon 2807 receiver and Klipsch F-3, C3, etc surround sound. I seem to be getting some type of interference on my tv screen when I turn the volume up or down using the receiver remote. It basically looks like a straight line that appears on the screen for about a 1/10th of a second. If I continue to turn the volume up or down then it doesnt do it again. If i wait a minute or so before adjusting the volume, the line will appear again. I'm not sure if its electrical interference in the receiver or if the wires from my speakers are causing it or what. The line that apppears on the screen is very thin and appears across the entire width of the screen. It almost looks like the type of interference you would get on the old tvs when you turned your vaccuum on, except its just for a split second when I hit the volume button. Also, the line appears higher or lower on the screen depending on whether I turn the volume up or down.. Very strange I know. If anyone has any insight into what this could possibly be, let me know. Thanks so much =)
  6. Very cool, and reassuring at that. Not sure if anyone is familiar with them but I think I'm gonna go with a guy from the lionav site. They seem to have a lot of positive feedback from customers. But yeah, I'm pretty excited about getting it done, so I'll let you guys know how it turns out! Thanks again for the help.
  7. I was thinking about having it done to my SXRD but I've already tweaked it a lot with the Avia disc and was wondering how major a difference an ISF Calibration would do. I've heard that some people could see a night and day difference, so would it just depend on the set?
  8. Thanks a lot guys =) Well I've seen several different setups with the LR mains to the sides and a setup with them somewhat arced on each side. So you suggest that I try to push them further apart, or angle them differently?
  9. Thanks man, hopefully it works this time
  10. Hmmm, thats weird. I checked it earlier right after I posted it and it worked fine, but you're right, now its going to the main site. Well damn, can I just paste the picture right into this post?
  11. Well I think I finally have everything the way I want it so I thought I'd show you guys how it looks. Feel free to offer suggestions on different speaker placement. The couch is back about 12 feet with the rear surrounds, I'll try and take a picture of those soon. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=24264432&albumID=0&imageID=4507871
  12. Okay, so I ran the auto setup on my receiver and everything seems to work fine. It just seems like I cant here the rear surround speakers at all. I know they're producing sound, just compared to the center and L,R speakers, its really hard to tell. Although when I went into the setup again and did the level check manually, the surround speakers seemed very loud at 0db, so im not sure. Would it be a bad idea to increase the level of the rears? They are only 4.5 feet from the sitting position. Here are the rest of the levels if someone wants to take a look at them. Front Left +2.5dB Front Right +1.0dB Center +1.5dB Subwoofer -6.0dB Surround Left +0.5dB Surround Right 0.0dB
  13. Awesome, I finally got everything unpacked, connected, and all the setup for my speakers. I havent really had a chance to test them out much but from what I did hear, it sounds friggin awesome. I put in an epside of House from season 2 and it sounded so clear. The amazing thing is that at only -30dB, the sound is at perfect listening level for the room. I work at best buy, and the systems they have there I have to crank em up to -10db before they start to get loud. I cant even imagine mine cranked up that far, im excited to test it out. Also, the Sub-12 sounds nice and deep too, I still havent figured out the right balance for it yet, still have it set pretty low. Anyways, these things rock!
  14. I have the Sony Upconverting DVD player. And yes, the HDMI cable is the only thing I have running from the DVD player to the Receiver. I saw another post on here about a guy who had the same problem and he somehow fixed it in the auto setup, but I've already run that and it worked fine. I'm wondering if maybe I need an Optical cable from my DVD to Receiver. The thing is, before I got my speakers, I could play my DVD player hooked up to my receiver the same way, and get sound out of my TV. But with my cable box hooked up through component to the receiver, I got no sound out of the tv. So i guess im wondering why i would need an optical cable for the dvd player if it obviously sends sound out through my receiver already?
