  1. This is what it is all about: What sounds good to you. Set your speakers to large and play with your sub and crossover settings, then do the same with the speakers set to small. Which sound do you prefer, it's YOUR system! FYI: My B&K Ref 50 is set to small speaker size (all 5 channels) with the crossover set @ 80.0 Hz High Pass Slope: 12.0 db Low Pass Slope: 12.0 db LFE Level: 0.0 db Crossover on subwoofer on bypass, volume knob slightly under 1/2 way up. Main Seakers: RF 7's Center: RC 7 Rears: RF 3II's Sub: RSW 15 I let the sub do the lower frequencies because I think it sounds alot cleaner, even though my RF 7's are perfectly capable of reproducing them. Correct me somebody if I am wrong but room size and layout contributes to this equation also.
  2. Way ahead of you..... I even thought of the 125.2 as the second zone amp to power my AW 650's in the garage and throwing away the system they are on, which was my main system before the B&K. And to think that an Onkyo integrated amp (don't laugh) ever sounded good to me. Oh well, you've got to start somewhere! Does your pre amp do "4 channel" stereo? I enjoy the 2 channel as much as the next guy, but the "4 channel" doesn't alter the sound for the rear speakers, just duplicates the fronts and actually is pretty cool. Put some Disturbed on a DVD-A and enjoy the ride!! My ears are bleeding just thinking about it.
  3. I would have to agree. I am running the B&K Reference 200.5 S2 and the Reference 50 S2 (in hindsight I should have bought the 200.7 and used the extra channels for a second zone) and the sound quality is outstanding! The RF 7's can play soooo loud and soooo clean it's just great fun listening to this system. The amp made all the difference. I often wonder if a different processor with this amp would sound this good. In regard to the crossover upgrade: I am afraid to tamper with them, can you really improve the sound of these things?
  4. Hello. Long time reader, first time writter. I have RF 7's and an RC 7 (came before the RF 83 and RC 64) in a roughly 15' x 15' room and they sound great. And to really get under my wife's skin, I use the RF 3 II's that used to be my main speakers as rear speakers. I got the bigger speakers because I will be using them in a larger room in the future. I guess a rule of thumb is that if your speakers can reproduce music accurately then they will do movies well also. And if you enjoy listening to music you are off to good start with the reference line. I have never heard the RF 82's but I know my RF 7's can play too loud even for me. I guess my point is buy the best speakers that you can afford, because if you're like me you'll probably have them for a long time and just keep moving them from house to house. Have fun shopping, that's the best part of this hobby!
  5. Hi there. I have been a Klipsch fan for decades and I have been using RF 7's for a few months now and I absolutely LOVE them! Glad to of hear others enjoying them. Do you want to have more fun? Consider a subwoofer, I have the RSW 15 matched up with the RF 7's. Talk about WOW! Just be VERY careful with the "bug", it could put you in the poor house very quickly. It sure is fun though! Enjoy!
