  1. short answer: no

to get your f3 even around 30, you need 300+ liter ported enclosure per driver, i didn't even bother to find out if the port would fit, or how the fr graph looks

I imagine you'd get better results from a modestly priced "normal" sub that won't take over your room

  2. Undergrad in Engineering Physics with emphasis in materials science

transfers nicely into graduate program in materials science, might be able to get done in 5 years too.

Next semester for me is crappy too, still entrenched in our gen ed program:

    Thermodynamics

    Intro to religion

    U.S. History since 1877

    World Regional Geography

    Math for physicists 1

  3. Foundations of Physics II

    Public Speaking.....................................

    American Democracy and Citizenship.......................................

    Differential Equations

    Fitness for Living.......................................................................

I'll be done on Thursday, first one was today, then I'm off for a full month. WHooo

  4. I'm running straight off my denon avr-1907. I had a crown xti 2000 hooked up for a while, didn't notice a difference. If anything it added a buzz/hiss I didn't like, (might have been something else crappy upstream, art clean box, my source)

I turned to the cdp before a tube integrated because I don't have a decent source, actually considering a normal cdp over a tube integrated probably

I'm running compressed mp3's off the digital out from my computer. Not good. Crappy integrated sound card.

Thanks for the info on used cdp's, I've never read about the lasers going out.

I'm a little skeptical about doing anything more audio wise until I'm in a better room though- just seems like a waste. (Will be 2 years from now)

Also, I was laying in bed last night thinking about a round/oval room. Could standing waves form like they do in rectangular rooms? Seems promising having not read any good technical articles on the idea.

  5. I played cello from first grade through fifth, taking lessons from a phenomenal cellist in the st. louis philharmonic orchaestra.

Played on stage when the pope came to st. louis back about 8 years ago as second cellist in that band, toured for a couple weeks with a mostly college age group.

Very few things I regret more in life than quitting.

Get him to play in talent show at school, obviously something 10 year olds recognize, not mahler......

  6. I have dean g'd rf-7's and a denon receiver. I think I'm going to stay with ss amplification, and get a dedicated one someday, but would like to experiment with a tube source.

Any thoughts are very welcome. I know NOTHING about tubes.

Suggested reading, brand names, prices, everything.

    Thanks

    Alex

  7. First time I heard rs-7's, after hearing rf-15's, kg1's, rf-7's, rb-75's, rf-35's, rc-3, kv-3, heresy, cornscala, etc etc. - I was blown away, they were terrible. I imagine it would need to be 10 feet away from the nearest listener to be bearable; and it that case, not suitable for dvd concert material, just movies.

Good observation, I always compare my ht "sound" to theaters, and the obvious differences in speaker layout.

I've been in several bad theaters. One, the center channel was way to the left of the center of the screen and drove me nuts.

In the theater I saw transformers, there was one sweet lfe effect with almost a sine wave sweep down to very low, and their sub was just torn to shreds, bottoming, all kinds of mechanical noise, I laughed out loud.

  8. Turns out MSU students like MU......

I was watching the MU Oklahoma game downtown here in Springfield in a bar, about 100 Mizzou fans, and me.

Every time OK made a play, i was like yyeaaaaaaaaaaaaa, it was amazing. After about 5 minutes, the other 2 OK fans came over to sit next to me. Man did I get some dirty looks

Definitely the most fun I've had in a while
