  1. The truth is, they arrived at my place from the factory just fine. I inspected the tops of the speakers and carton- everything was fine. i repacked and shipped to my place in FLA, and didn't look at them until three months later. Called Fedex, said you have 21 days to file a claim. My parents would not have been able to look at them anyway. Now I'm stuck with them. I think i'll have a furniture guy shore up the insides, maybe with a brace and lots of glue. I think the crack was more from compression than anything, and it doesn't seem like it is clean at all, but being MDF, it may be totally compromised and just not look or feel that way. Anyhow, gonna try and salvage them, otherwise, it would be a total loss. On a further note, Klipsch shipped them with the feet installed and not tight either.. they swiveled around during shipping and marred the finish- I had these really nice aftermarket outriggers I was gonna put on, but the feet dinged up the area so badly, I would have had to have them touched up anyway.. I'm through with big speakers!! RNAVer
  2. Anyone think this cabinet need go to the dump? It was crushed by Fedex. It doesn't seemed completely cracked/compromised, the veneer can be touched up, but I'm worried that this will become a problem later on. Any suggestions? If I look at the inside of the cabinet, it seems the MDF is a little craked/delaminated but this isn'ta clean break/crack. I wonder if a bit of glue might shore things up.. hoping at least.. RNAVer
  3. I've been wondering the same thing. How do decibels relative to zero equal wattage output. Or do they.
  4. Well, I didn't turn the amp off before removing an input cable which produced a horribly loud snap/buzz. I know that speakers can be blown this way. Music sounds fine but is there a better way to tell if it has been damaged? Thanks...
  5. I can vouch for this. I have the RF-7 and was complaining about them being edgy and bright. Well, that was with a $500 receiver. I picked up a Mcintosh MC2100, a 1970's vintage solid-state tank, had it checked and put it straight to work. I can't tell you how stunned I was. The RF-82 will not dissapoint if you power it properly.
  6. Since the RF-7's were a good deal, I guess I expected to use them with an inexpensive reciever. Come to think of it, the Bose are starting to get on my nerves. There really isn't any detail there which is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Maybe I need to audition some quality gear with the 7's then make a decision. Thanks gentlemen.
  7. Gentlemen, I am not an expert here, but I enjoy music like the rest of you. I do have a question about the RF-7 and your opinions of it. Firstly, I drive the RF-7's with a late Pioneer receiver, and I've been pretty happy with music and movies. But right this minute I happen to be listening to a Onkyo receiver with a 20-year-old CD player, hooked up to Bose cubes and I have to say the sound is waaaay more laid-back and enjoyable (go ahead and laugh now). Maybe it's not as nuanced and lacking some midrange, but overall not bad! Also, I don't feel the need to turn it off after five minutes. I actually feel that the RF-7's put out an overly-sensitive reproduction without much depth which is probably related to the receiver, but I am starting to wonder. I guess the question is, is the RF-7 really that great of a speaker and are there others with similar, less than spectacular experiences? I could go out and buy the pricey stuff, but I wonder if in the end it will be worth the thousands it will cost to enjoy the '7's. Thanks guys...
  8. The speakers match, the audio cabinet is different.
  9. I either have to sell the corner horns or crate them for shipping across the Atlantic. Unfortunately, none of the speakers have tags on the back. I have the recepit says they're laquerd palisander ro something to that translation. The "Grand Piano" model I guess that was something special in 1973. [*-)] Is it considered quite negative in terms of selling on ebay to not have them? I'll keep them if so. Cheers guys.
