  1. Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I will stay with the K 55 M. Maybe I could use an Altec in a Cornscala configuration?
  2. Have you tried lowering the gain on the QSC?
  3. Would using an Altec driver be an upgrade over the Klipschorn mid driver. I am presently using an Altec 511-B with the K55M and it sounds pretty good.
  4. How well would the Klipsch midranges work on the Altec 811-B horns or the Altec 511-B horns?
  5. Thanks, That driver looks promising and not to expensive.
  6. I would appreciate any recomendations for compresion drivers to mate up with the Altec 811-B horns.
  7. Thanks for the quick response.
  8. Does the Altec 511B and 811 take 1" throat drivers? I looked on the Altec web site it doesn't say. Thanks, Robert
  9. I had the same problem when I hooked up a USB DAC from computer to hifi system. I was recommended this site, www.electronics-shop.dk, the sold me a USB galvanic ground loop eliminator and it worked. Cost about $49.00 + shipping. Don't know if this will help. They might have another device etc.
  10. I want to make a second system with active crossover but, not spend a ton of money. Choice is an Adcom 4 channel @ 60 watts per channel 8 ohms or Carver 4 channel @ 60 watts 8ohms. Both use both about $140.00 both can bridge channels 3 and 4 for single 175 watts @ 8ohms. I will use to drive mid compression driver and high compression driver. Thanks ahead of time. Robert
  11. Does the AL-3 crossover have attenuation tapps for the midhorn? Thanks, Robert
  12. Thanks guys. The problem turned out to be bad cables. Replaced with heavier shield cables and no more buzz. Robert
  13. I recently purchased a USB DAC to output music from the PC to the stereo. Immediately I have a low level buzz. Is this a ground loop? The two systems are not near each other, using 25 ft rca connectors. No other problems with system. Thanks, Robert
  14. For repair service from qualified people try: www.carveraudio.com www.ritasvintageaudio.net
  15. To the best of my knowledge a guitar amp has a limited badwith depending on type of sound wanted, also higher distortion ratings are allowed. Your ESS speakers are power hungry. If you played them with the Phase full out, WOW. There are a lot of stereo amps available these days priced from $200.00 up that will power those speakers. Some newer Crowns, Behringer, Samson for just a few Don't rule out lower powered stereo amps that can be switched to mono giving you the power you want. It might cost just as much to have the Phase fixed. Off hand I do not have info but, on E-Bay there are advertisments for repairing the older Phase Linear amps. If I come across the info I will post again. Just my opinion. Hoping you get up and running soon, Robert
  16. Yes. At minimum I would place a capacitor parrallel with the + line going to the external tweeter. Maybe 4000hz or higher. You might have to place a L-Pad on the tweeter to match output of the full range driver as well. Robert
  17. Yes that will work. However, you probably need a some type of filter to prevent low frequencies entering the horn. robert
  18. I would leave it alone. If you bought it only a few months ago from Best Buy it should be under warranty. Return it to Best Buy for repair or exchange. Good Luck. Robert
  19. Thanks. Good reading. Can you tell me more how the T-Amp sounded with your Klipschorns. Robert
  20. Or this one:http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=320-304.
  21. Any thoughts about using one of the amps for driving mid and/or high freq horns. I am looking at these:http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=320-304 or this one: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=320-300
