  1. Hi Josh,

The cherry veneer was done by Bill Perlick, the original purchaser. So it's not from the factory. He did a real nice job on it. Bill is a retired "rocket scientist" having work on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle missions as a payload specialist.

As far as the cloth goes, I agree with you and the others who like the look of the original cloth. It looks 10-50. (Rates a 10 at fifty feet). But a 2-10. Its forty years old and looks it. So I will replace it if I can find it. The wife has seen all the replies and has decided the look of the original cloth is the way to go, even if my cornwalls have black cloth. Likewise the 2.2v's.

  2. I am now the proud owner of this set of horns (K-C-FR, 1C992 and 1C993).

I bought them from the original owner.

    Now what do I do?

I don't have room for them, but I'll make room. They're finished in a cherry veneer. Quite nice, but old.

I would like opinions on needed upgrades. I will change the xovers, but to what kind? And probably the grill cloth.

    The xovers are type 1R. Tweeters k77 (2453, 2473), squawkers k55v (3481, 3516).

    Yikes!

  3. It seems like a lot of money just to change from pressure treated wood to cedar, if that's the case.

Are you building it yourself or is someone doing it for you? Ask the builder why it costs $300 more just to change wood type..

True, the chemicals in treated wood is not as 'bad' as previous, but they are still chemicals. I, personally, would not submit my daughter to any chemicals, if at all possible.

Cedar is naturally water resistant and it does turn silver (gray) over time. I say it ages gracefully (hee hee).

  4. Hi everyone. I've been enjoying reading the post for a few weeks now and have finally got the gumption up to post.

I'm not new to Klipsch speakers, owning a pair of Cornwalls I purchased in 1976. I've owned Heresys and Khorns in the past, but have never given up on my Cornwalls.

Some of the stuff I read I understand, but most of the technical jargon is Way over my head. But I'm catching on.

I spoke with Mr. Colter and received interesting info regarding types of Cornwals and a possible Xover replacement from Bob Crites.

Here's the question - Is it necessary to replace the Xovers, even though they still sound exceptional? Do they wear out?

    OK, two questions.

    Yours Klipschally,

    Jerol
