  1. nice proton :)

I know.  Came from CA to Kokotucky in a Pioneer HT box (nice box).  Thin bubble wrap around the glass.  In a box full of peanuts... I was afraid to plug it in and try it... unboxed it at CP1 HOK....  the peanuts about sent M into a panic attack.  Very insufficient packing IMVHO... local UPS store owner thinks should at least be double boxed.

I've hit those +3 and +6 db ... doh!  without cutting off the bass on AW-525.  Sounded great until it didn't.     Cone crunch or crack flimsy basket. I'm guessing cone crunch.. Neil Diamands Suli... Brother Love's Travelin' Salvation Show

Had RatShack mixer, that can drive Heresies across parking lot to 70 db feeding the Proton.  It has EAX EQ settings but all seem to really lower the output and sound well, artificial on my vintage Creative Labs zen xTra 60 gb.  mp3 at creative 60% and then 100% compression... beats the CRAP out of any 128 kbps mp3.    Hope to get a pono player soon... the Ayre DAC and balanced headphone amp in them are crazy good for $399

Now to sell off some stuff, maybe even the Proton .... need to get to Hope 2016

ps.  Percussion sounded great.... CD I'm sure would be much better... LP even better assuming early CD mastered by ID10Ts?

  2. Is anyone interested in complete operas?   On LP.  I may have more.  A couple of boxed sets not operas.

I am chopping at the bit.

    Champing.  It's champing.

Blindfold me and stand me in front of a firing squad. :o  ;)

Okay, I meant to spell it chomping which is an alternative word instead of champing.  Both are accepted in the commonly used idiom.

Drool... Accurus is excellent equipment... I hope to open an audio business sooner rather than later... gotta sell enough for my lawyers fees to set up a doing business as under my LLC for C2C (Corporate to Corporate) z/OS (ibm mainframe) DB2 consulting... name Audionatics... goal is to sell as much USA made gear as possible, and Indiana connection if possible... Indy Audio Labs who own Accurs and Aragon brands fits nicely founded by ex Klipsch employee RIck Santiago.  But no ca$h.   Working to sell off enough to finance trip to Hope gathering....

If you still have it in July I'm very interested.  Accurus stuff will sound great for decades.  Better than what I have for the most part.  lol

If you can get somebody to take to swap meet, I'm sure somebody there would be enticed.  If I can get there and have some Ca$h, I'll buy it.  Yeah.  I've heard the demos where it plays on for quite a while when power cut.  Massive.  Power.  Supply.

    edit:

My wife would chop me up into bits if I tried or even hinted of interest if I'd try to buy this today.   (Grumpy) Yet still lovely bride (I think - lost newest prescription so can't see up close with sunglasses).  OH!  HELL!  NO!

edit:  If you can wait for payment and hold until July 1st.  I'll happily take both the Accurus amplifier and ACT 3 for $400.  Excellent gear.  Even if the ACT3 is out of date.     I should be starting one of my new jobs and be able to swing this be July 1st if not sooner.  Father Out Law lives in Venice FL so we really need to get down there to see him.

  4. So no Bonnie Raitt fans.... I might have accepted as little as $4, maybe even $2.  So if you're interested, join the Original Vinyl Auction Group on FB.  Maybe I'll start at $4.  Or maybe $2.

So maybe now I should just delete and post in Alerts!  So report me.  My image here is too clean.  roflmao

More LPs available not sure if will post here or maybe another vinyl auction group on FB that I think may allow multiple sales per day.  The Original allows 1 per 24 hours....

WTH!?!  Limited number of new posts?  Wait 24 seconds.  GRRRRRRRRRRR

I have one pending.... I started this morning..

  6. This appeared to be in great shape but found that the 8" woofer foam is bad and needs to be refoamed.  Simply speakers sells kit for $19.   Velodyne also will happily sell a replacement driver for $110.

We do sell replacement 8" drivers for the unit.

To purchase, please complete the attached form and submit.

    Replacement 8" Driver Part id: 81-067: $110 + shipping

I could not find a manual for this sub and was sent the following link and got the following response from Velodyne when I further inquired.  The VA08VBX10 has a level control.

    http://velodyne.com/pdf/va/VA-810-1012Manual.pdf

The link to the manual provided is the closest to the one you have.

    Functionality-wise, they are identical.

Anyway.  I have no intentions of shipping this.  It's reasonably compact but quite hefty.  I can deliver to Indianapolis area if patient.  If I'm able to get to the Hope gathering this month I'll bring it with.  Don't have the cash at the moment and the deadline is almost here.

Woofer looked fine before powering up....

  8. p.s.   Isn't a lithograph considered art?  More a high quality reproduction but signed and numbered by the original artists can be very valuable.... Yeah.  This is a whole magnitude cooler.... and valuable.

  9.

Gawd Shu that movie scared the shitt out me when I was a kid. Movies on TV was big deal back then and that movie broke new ground for sci-fi in movies on home TV. Pretty corny by today's standards but scare as hell when I was 10 or so.

    Cool -

    Indeed.

You know, when I watch vintage movies I am very careful to not judge them with the eye of a modern movie goer... I try my best to look at them with the vision of the makers of that era. I love old movies!

This is not a litho, its an actual multi-color screen print... like I said, its actually art.

Gee thanks Shu.... now I won't be able to sleep for another 1/2 of day or so.... not really I'm about to the crash and burn phase.  20 mg of pure melotonin.  Some Valerian root.  Need to add some carbs, with a shot of  margarita mix to aid things along.  And just to be safe, put on some nice chillaxin' music.... The Acoustic Sleeping Pill (Acousitc Alchemy, I think back on the case, is quite good but at low levels............. and well, picturing the dadburned cover makes me yawn.EXCELLENT SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRREEEEEEE!!!!    Practicing in case Kokomo Mantis FC semi professional soccer team calls me in as replacement soccer (the real football to oh, the rest of the world except the Aussies, as well, the feet are used very little in conjunction with the ball in Football Americain as the French would put it).  So I can scream GGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!! into the microphone...

    AWESOME PPPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSTTEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  10. I think the key to a long life with the Li-Ion batteries is to keep them charged. They do not like to be completely withdrawn of energy. They are a great choice though, especially when weight savings is key, like on a bike. Ballistic makes a good one also.

I thought Li-ion batterers still should be discharged completely every so often to avoid the memory effect?  And work really well in high drain devices such as digital cameras better than say a non-rechargeable standard Duracell, Energizer (go Bunny... go bunny) or Ray-o-Vac?

I may be getting my thoughts mixed up with the older nickel metal hydride or whatever they are, or the new lithium polymer?

Lead acid batteries such as standard car, motorcycle, and lawn tractor batteries really need to be kept fully charged, I think.

The non-rechargeable and expensive lithium batteries are much better below freezing which will either freeze or drain more standard batteries.

YMMV  just my 0.2 db   sleep has been very elusive as of late.

  11. I would take the refund and order another pair.  Klipsch customer service in the US is very good.  The structure of things for Europe is that the warranty goes through the distributor for that country or local distributor.  Not sure why that is but it is the way it is and there is probably a reason....

My daughter and I both have a pair of white Status and have had no problems, other than the headphone cable I broke when my phone fell on the floor the first day I used our first pair of Status that I won in the Klipsch #UnleashRoy contest.  Replacement cables were quickly sent out.  Yours should have never got past quality control.  both our pairs have held up quite well and are very durable.  I've even used mine (or maybe our daughter's) while doing yard work with no issues.  I did change to a vinyl cable for such things as I didn't really want to get grass stains on the cloth cable.

Hopefully your issue will be resolved soon.

  12. Time to clear out some excess inventory and I need the ca$h.  Hope to raise enough funds to cover expense to Hope gathering May 20 -22 and help pay to start a couple of small businesses.

These are oak vinyl and in very good condition and sounded very good when I last hooked them up.  Very small tear in corner of one of the grills.

PayPal only at this time please.  Can ship to CONUS.  Buyer to pay actual shipping. .  Can deliver to Hope gathering.

Hey Ben I think that cartridge is for 78rpm....not sure.

Not stock, but a .6 mil 78 stylus is available.  I believe they are green.

I have one somewhere.  Works nicely for 78, but found the Stanton 550 DJ model with 78 stylus to be just as good and a bit more robust.  Able to track at 6 grams nicely.

    Dave

When I got the v15type5MR over 25 years ago to replace my Shure M97HEAH (adjustable headsheel for S shaped tone arms which I still have) I thought I should get a 78 RPM stylus for the v15 or the M97 and never did.

I don't know much about 78 but aren't the RIAA type of EQ curves different for just about every record company?  At least for the earlier 78s?

  15. Husqavarna used to make good motocross and enduro motorcycles in the 60's & 70's.  I think they make pretty good chain saws now too.  I don't have 1st hand experience though, my chain saws are all Stihl.  I would take it back to Lowes and tell them to exchange it or you will never go to Lowes again and tell them you will give all your business to Home Depot or Menards.  Rat bastards!

Husqavarna still makes pretty good chainsaws.  My brothers ex-wife's step son's significant other, Scott,  is/was a lumberjack and said Husqvarna was one of the best along with Jonsered which is what we had since 1978 until around 1998 when we bought a new one after Dad passed away.  The old Jonsered still going strong but could no longer get parts though I think Mike's co-worker and pastor made what he needed.  he place where Dad purchased it still had on file that Dad had bought it in 1978.  Wore out the ancient McCulloch.  Got  new one.  Killed it in a year or two.  Dad bought the Jonsered.  It cut through hard dried maple better than the new McCulloch could cut soft green wood.

Never saw anybody as good with a chainsaw as Scott.  Had almost forgotten that they're supposed to produce shavings and not saw dust when cutting.  Saw a bit.  Sharpen chain.  Continue.   Somebody stole our new Jonsered a few years back so Mike bought another pro grade from a different store but son of long time friend of Dad's.   I think Scott said that  Husqvarna, Jonsered and this other brand now all made by the same company?

Love our Stihl straight shaft string trimmer and think of them as maker of very good trimmers, chain saws, etc.

  16. Hey Ben I think that cartridge is for 78rpm....not sure.

    Chuck,

M94E  M44E is an elliptical but I think a 79 78 RPM stylus is available for it.  Not sure if still available but at one time one could get a 78 RPM stylus for v15 type 5 MR so 78 stylus  probably available for any Shure cartridge

    STYLUS MODEL

    N44E Replacement : Grip Color-Brown

    ELLIPTICAL SHAPED DIAMOND TIP

.0004 inch (10 microns) side contact radii

,0007 inch (17.8 microns) frontal radius

.0010 inch (25.4 microns) between points

    of contact with groove

Thanks for Dave for catching my SNAFUBAR M44E not M94E!... thought M94PE didn't seem quite right.

  17.

Bad start to my day. I went out to mow the lawn and the Husqvarna I bought at Lowes three months ago won't start. A little trouble shooting and it looks like a shorted coil. Lowes says because it is more than 30 days and I didn't buy their warranty plan, they will do nothing. Husqvarna has a three year warranty but they are closed until Monday. What a PIA.

On the up side, I don't have to mow now. Think I'll do some wood working. I need to cut the wood for the turntable project.

I was looking at their trimmers glad to kno2 i should purchase the warranty.

Luther.... this is why you should spend a few more $$$ and buy good power tools from a REAL dealer with a service department and not a big box store.  Have not had any issues with my Still FS85 bought new back in '98 with minimal maintenance.  A few issues with Cub Cadet lawn tractor bought used - the electric clutch went out and muffler was too rusty to re-use ... has worked fine since though needs a new battery or more acid.  Only a few issues with pro grade Simplicity walk behind snow blower.  Mostly my own making - tried to push a railroad tie through it.  Janked things up pretty good before it broke the shear pin.  Then tried to push slush through it .... bad idea - bent up 2nd stage on that one.  Other than that let it get out of adjustment bad enough it didn't go.  Felt stupid on that one as I took it to a localish dealer as the dealer in town bit the dust.  Great mechanic.... terrible at running a business.

Good luck with your yard gear.  I did have to "fix" my mower deck.  Some ID10T had mowed over an old t shirt and get it wedged really tight into the blades and pulleys.  Changed blades and much better... had previously mowed a chunk off the top of a rock I hadn't seen and had been clubbing grass for a while.

Highly recommended to buy from store / dealer that services what it sells.

Can't wait to see TT plinth pics.

I have a vintage Garrard AT6 Mk II from a console with Shure M44E? or something like that.  Has manual and plinth template.  Worth using a good hunk of cedar, other word, or marble to make a new plinth?   Need to inspect and clean up.  Looks to be in real good shape.  Have to get out my magnifying mirror etc and inspect the stylus.
