  1. Welcome to the forum.

If you want the most out of a system, seperates are the only way to go. For 2 channel, monoblocks are the preferred choice of audiophiles(which I am not). New to the game three years ago. Your RF-7's can dip down into low impedence(2-3 ohms) in which a high current amp would be best. Here are a couple of suggestions:

As I said above, seperates are the best choice. I am suggesting the Marantz receiver because to many, it's preamp section bests most receivers on the market and rivals many dedicated preamps and also gives you the added flexibility of home theater(5.1 or 7.1) applications if you choose.

  2. Anyways, I've been looking at the two most local craigslists which, for me, are Birmingham and Atlanta (I'm now at Auburn and there's never anything in AU, Montgomery, or Columbus) so there's at least something there. No Heritage other than a pair of Heresies that I can find.

Here is an easier way to search C-List without going to each city. Just type in zip code and subject(Klipsch) and all C-list adds within 250 miles.

  3. I just got back from browsing the local SA in Kissimmee and found a nice DCD-1500 for $19.99. No brainer. Brought home and hooked it up to my Marantz 2252b and Forte's and boy was I in for a surprise. A 23 year old cd player that sounds awesome and doesn't skip and jumps from track to track without a hint of hesitation. I understand that this player was one of the one's to have in the 80's. I can see(hear) why.

  4. I just picked up a little vintage(80's)NAD system today I found on C-list: 2150 stereo amp(50w/ch), 1020 stereo preamp, 4125 tuner. Seller threw in a pair of unused Acoustic Research AR S-20 bookshelf speakers. This system sounds sweet. I have not hooked to any of my Klipsch yet but might see what it sounds like with my Forte's. Does anyone have experience with these NAD components? From what I have read the preamp's phono section is high quality. I really bought these to turn around and sell them.

  5. Welcome to the forum. I live in Kissimmee and would be willing to help you set up your system on Sunday(if my wife doesn't mind). I would suggest you get a receiver with hdmi connections. I found this on C-list and emailed the seller. Waiting for his/her response. If working properly this is a good deal.

  6. Thanks for uploading a picture for me. The one I am considering is black with rosewood sides. The seller emailed me pictures that I tried to post but could not get it to work. I have not listened to it yet. The seller lives way on the other side of Orlando about 40 miles away. If he still has not sold it by Saturday I hope to be able to take a look and listen.

  7. I have an opportunity to buy what seems like a very nice Denon POA-1500 amp offered on C-list. The seller wants $235.00 OBO. Any thoughts, opinions, etc.

I am considering hooking it up to the stereo pre-outs from my Marantz 2252b to power my Forte's. Maybe pair it with my Luxman R-115 to drive the Forte's. What do you guys think?

  8. I know I wussed out on the 62 vs 64, but worst case, in a year or two I'll sell the 62 and upgrade

I had the RC-62 with a pair of RF-63's for a little over a year. I felt that they sounded fine together. Then I took advantage of 6ave.com's "name your price" promotion and plugged in $575.00. Five minutes later and an email from 6ave accepting my offer. $575.00 delivered with no sales tax from an authorized Klipsch dealer. What a difference in every way. I did do an A-B comparison and the 64 won hands down. Now I am not saying the 62 is a dud by any means, I am just emphasizing that the 64 is definitely an upgrade.

    PS

6ave is currently having another "name your price" promotion this Labor Day weekend.

  9. Welcome to the forum.

Nice system. A pair of used RS-42's might do the trick. I am using a pair of RSX-4's as surrounds with my RF-63's and RC-64. Though not the perfect match, they do work quite well. I do think you should stay in the ref. line if possible. Maybe even try a pair of RSX-5's if you can find them.

Here is a good deal from an authorized dealer.

  10. BC,

If you are not quite sure 200w/channel will be enough, here is something interesting. Look at this review of the XPA-2.

    http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/power-amplifiers/496.html?task=view&start=3

"Power output at 8 ohms is very solid up to 300 watts (0.04% THD+N), before a rapid rise to clipping (1% THD+N) at 340 watts. At 4 ohms, output reached 400 watts (0.07% THD+N) before the rise to clipping at 480 watts. No question, the XPA-2 will really put out some juice."

If Emotiva's power specs for the XPA-2 is 200w/channel and the amp tests at 300w/channel, I am sure the XPA-3 also tests way above mfr specs.

  11. im not to sure about buying a used amp though.

I understand your concern but an outboard amp is one of if not the most reliable piece of audio equipment you will have. An amp takes a signal from a receiver/processor and amplifies it and sends it out through your speakers as sound. That's it. No moving parts,no processors inside.

I bought my one owner 10 year old B&K for $100.00. I sent it to the shop for a good checkup and cleaning($90.00) and it runs cool and quiet and has transformed my system. I am not saying that you should by from the used market but you can find many like new pieces out there for a fraction of the cost of new.

  12. Yes your amps have to have bridge capability. One question, why would you want to pump double the power into the center and half that into the front's? It seems like it would get kind of tricky with your Pioneer's EQ settings. If you want crazy power, why not get this.

  13. Yes 200w/channel will make you say "WOW". When I added my B&K Ref. 4430 3 channel(200w/channel) to my Onkyo receiver, the RF-63's came alive. More depth, bass, articulate, headroom, refinement, and all other audio lingo adjectives. I have no experience with Emotiva but many on forum are pleased. There are better amps out there but for the money it seems Emotiva is a good choice. Here is a link to an excellant 3 channel amp on the used market. I would get it if I didn't have my B&K and had extra cash laying around.

  14. not sure what you mean by disregard, I was just asking for your insight on some issues lol

I think Bill H's "disregard" means that he started to post but changed his mind.

the fact that I just got some almost new RF 82's for $499 makes me happy

No hate mail from any of us. $499.00 for an almost new pair of RF-82's is sweet. If you were to decide on the Def Tech's you might have received hate mail(just kidding). We all appreciate good sound and good deals. Did you get the pair of 82's from the C-list ad I posted?
