I have a pair of RF-83 and was wondering if the RF-7ii would be an upgrade or a lateral move? I use them 80% HT and 20% music and I've heard the 83's are more musical and the rf 7 are better for HT.
The RF-83 have a very laid back top end. Midrange and bottom end are pretty similar. My vote would go to the RF-7 II.
Check out this thread where I compared the RF-7, RF-7 II and RF-83 a few years ago

We have not heard any news about the RS-62 III being released. Hopefully Klipsch will produce a successor to the RS-62 II as the RP series is a series just under the RF-7 Series. You might want to contact Klipsch to see if they can let you know if they are at least considering making a surround for the RF-7 III / RC-64 III.

wvu80 is correct, tagging someone in a post is the best way to alert someone you are directing a question to them.
My guess is the RC-64 III will sound just a tad more relaxed and smoother than the RF-7 II but I wouldn’t think it would sound bad necessarily.
If you are eventually wanting to get the matching RF-7 III, Go for it. If you are planning on keeping the RF-7 II, try and find the matching (both visually and sonically) the RC-64 II.

you are in a unique position to answer a LOT of questions I see a many of potential Klipsch buyers asking.
That is exactly why I reached out to Klipsch back in November about reviewing the RF-7 III since everyone was asking how different were they from the RF-7 or the RF-7 II. I own the RF-7 and RF-7 II and Klipsch thought it was a great idea so they sent me a pair to review. After moving them into the theater room, I realized reviewing the RF-7 III for home theater without the matching center would be weird so they graciously sent me RC-64 III to review as well. My goal is to provide as much info as I can on them during the time that I have them.

Have you ever had an RC-64 before? Did you have one with the RF-83's?
Yes, I had the RC-64 with RF-83
And my son has the RC-64 II with his RF-7
That I bought with this package

It looks amazing! Will watch my first movie on the RF-7 III and RC-64 III this weekend.

It's possible. Will not have the exact sound as the RF-7 II as it should be slightly more laid back and a bit more refined on the top end.

Yeah, I don't think they are aware of the appropriate value. I would take the Chorus for $300 any day over the 2.2 for $200.

Looks like a sweet buy for someone - https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/ele/d/klipsch-chorus-speakers-other/6519619269.html

Hi Champ. This is posted in the alerts section which means it was an item that was not personally mind that was for sale I just found it online and wanted to share that link with others. Besides that this was posted back in 2016 so I highly doubt the seller still has it

To add some context to the above screenshot...where I said "we all heard the same thing" I was referring to the fact that the modded RF-7 II are quite a bit less bright than the stock RF-7 II which does put the top end closer in sound to the RF-7 III than to the RF-7 II. @WakeJunkie has stock RF-7 II and has heard the Deang RF-7 II many, many times in my home. He always felt, and even shared with @Deang over the phone during a conversation we all had that the Deang mod removed the very thing he loved about the RF-7 II which was the detailed top end, without being harsh like the original RF-7 are known to be.
A few weeks ago, I hosted an audio get together with 5 other guys, we all agreed the RF-7 III was smoother and much more refined on the top end than the stock RF-7 II. The Deang modded crossover reduced the top end of my RF-7 II quite a bit which did make it sound less bright on the top end just as the RF-7 III is less bright than the sound of the stock RF-7 II. After a few A/B/C/D between RF-7, RF-7 II, RF-7 II with Deang and RF-7 III, everyone seemed to be more interested in comparing between RF-7 II with stock crossovers and RF-7 III as we were all trying to narrow down which speaker we liked the best. We all agreed the RF-7 III had a more balanced sound from top to bottom than the other three speakers and sounds fantastic.
I have said it many times that my ears have always preferred a brighter sound. I chose to have Dean modify the crossovers because he offered to do them for free if I would document the process of removing them. I shipped my crossovers to dean and a month later, when I received the crossovers back, I noticed the Deang crossover had removed a lot of the top end that my ears actually preferred but kept them because I'm probably 90% Home Theater and 10% Music and they still sounded good, they just weren't as bright as I liked. I never sit down on my couch to listen to music, I'm typically streaming it through my phone while I'm working in my home office. I just ended up turning up the treble on my receiver to bring back some of the highs that were reduced by the mod.
When we were doing the A/B/C/D comparison during the audio get together, we listened to the RF-7 first and Mike Carter immediately asked what my settings were on the treble when we listened to the original RF-7. He has them in his own home and noticed immediately something didn't sound right. I had increased the treble from 12:00 to 3:00. The increased treble that I had added to the modded RF-7 II made the original RF-7 unnaturally bright so we returned the treble to flat at 12:00 for the rest of the day.
I did end up selling the Deang crossovers last week to a gentleman that said at times, his RF-7 II could be a bit fatiguing and wanted to buy mine to see if they would reduce the top end a bit. To someone that feels the RF-7 II are too bright, modifying the crossover is an option that would certainly reduce the top end. -
Yes I was born with one lol

Klipsch is sending me the RP-280's sometime in March. It's just not feasible for me to swap crossovers in and out every time I want to compare a set of speakers to the stock RF-7 II.

No, he just got a pair of RF-7ii’s. He wants his networks uograded - I thought yours were for sale. If not, I’ll PM him with details.
That's the way I read it. That's why I referred him to you. A guy contacted me last week and bought my networks since he was looking to smooth out the top end on his RF-7 II.

I hear you modify crossovers that can clean up the top end on the speakers, what would that cost me?
Yes, you can contact @Deang. He's the man that can hook you up if you are looking to modifying your networks.

I have not heard the Reference Premiere Series yet. Klipsch is sending me a pair of RP-280F sometime in March to review so I'll be able to provide some insight then. My guess, much bigger sound due to the larger tweeter, larger horn, larger cabinet and larger drivers.

Over the weekend, I moved the RF-7 III from my 2ch setup in the living room into the Home Theater. I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform for movies. Here is the first of several videos to come.

Yeah, large speakers wouldn't benefit you at all with the couch being that close to the wall. I had originally thought RS-35 as they are a smallish wide dispersion speaker but you might could use a Synergy wide dispersion speaker (not familiar with Synergy models myself)
-
Hey Justin, if your couch is near the wall, I would recommend some type of wide dispersion speaker. What are you using for front speakers? Do you have photos of your room you can share?
-

In this video, I share my thoughts on how the RF-7 III perform for 2ch music.

What is your budget? Do you prefer a modern style speaker or older heritage style? Do you have any restrictions on speaker size?

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

In person is of course the way to go.
I could invite the entire Klipsch Community over for a demo.....we might have to have a rotation schedule though haha
I haven't listed mine yet but I'll likely be selling my Deang crossovers since Klipsch is sending me another model in March to review and this week SVS is shipping me their Ultra Towers to review. Since I've got the only pair of Deang for RF-7 II's, it doesn't benefit anyone for me to compare any speakers to them not to mention, it's too much hassle to keep swapping crossovers back and forth.

RF-83 or 7II
in Home Theater
Posted
All I know is when I A/B/C the RF-7, RF-7 II and RF-83, the 83 were definitely laid back in comparison. And even more so when I A/B them with the LaScalas. The 83 have a very smooth sound to them where the RF-7 II and LaScala are somewhat "Bold" and "In Your Face".
