  1. The Speaker Exchange?

    reconingspeakers.com

I need to get a replacement diaphram for a Tannoy Berkeley speaker and they are a ways away from me as I'm in Canada and they are in Florida, I believe.

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this company and how they are.

    Thanks!

  2. Ok maybe I can help with the puzzle, she or he has arrived to a location. A location I have been wanting to send it off to for the last two years since it came into my life. I tried all I could to make it work but it just wouldn't. Pictures of my actions, and then of course pics of its triumph return, to follow. So stayed tuned as I am very excited for this to happen.

Going by the description, it could be a blow up doll that is finally getting some sexual parts added. LMAO Pics?? No, thank you!

  3. Hi All,

I am thinking about purchasing an amp to power my mains. I don't need one to do the other three. I am running a Marantz SR-6004 receiver.

I know Emotiva makes some great stuff, is there anything for us Canadians that is a reasonable price? I don't think Emotiva does much in the way of warranty for out of states customers. Someone may know more.

Also, how does one get an amp that turns on when you turn on the receiver?

    Thanks guys.

  4. Yeah, I saw that too. I would believe it is the II's but I haven't saw them in my local F.S. store to see for myself. If they are at your local store, check the woofers(they look different than the I's) and if you can have a look at the back of the cabinet, it should say.

  5. Thanks sf. The problem I was having was it would only play if I cranked the volume. So when I opened it up, it looked like some metal shavings got in the V.C. gap. So I blew some compressed air in there to rid that and tried to shuffle the shims so that there was no connection between the V.C. and the sides. It was working more consistantly last I listened, but need more time to test.

  6. Hey all,

I have recently received (scored?) a pair of Tannoy Berkeley speakers and am having an issue with one of the tweeters. I took it apart and the diaphram's voice coil sits in a gap suspended by some shims. It is a concentric speaker.

Question: Does the voice coil have to have NO contact (needs to float) in the gap where it sits? And if it does come into contact with the sides, will it cut out?

    Thanks

  7. Thank you for the review, it is so nice that you share the pictures when you are unpacking it. It feels like I'm getting a new piece of gear and I love that feeling. I know I didn't but I guess I get excited for other when they get something new. Good for you, ENJOY!

P.S. I hope the wife is doing fine.[Y]

  8. RLBURNSIDE, what happened??? I'm in Canada too and am interested in what went down. I hear Gentec isn't good at much! My Klipsch dealer stopped carrying Klipsch because of them. I have a B&M store to go to now but get the B&M service. [:(] I don't want to switch brands, guess we'll see.

  9. Sorry to hear about your issues nezff, I have talked to what could be the same person at Tech support that seemed rude and blunt. Anyhow, if you lived near me, I would trade you my RF62's for your new 62IIs, considering your using them for surrounds, I'd prefer the 62 v.1's as well. Although I think the 62II's ould make better mains, considering where the x-over is set. May not seem like much, but I can hear the difference. (1800Hz vs 1500Hz)
