  1. Sounds interesting. I am going for a balanced look as well. And I dont want them too far up there that they get excessively tippy. Were you able to fasten them to the stands in any way? Im inventing some sort of bottom clamp idea for the top of the stand and the bottom of the speaker, but im not sure exactly how to do it.
  2. The speaker stands yet at the moment dont exist. After measuring the height of my ear off the ground, when I am in a sitting position, and then puting the tweeters of the RB5's at that height, I end up with RB5's on 30 inch speakers stands and the overall package being just over 47 inches tall. My question is that on many of Klipsch's floor speakers the height overall of the speaker is many times less than 40 inches. In the case of the KLF-10s they are 38.75 inches which would put the tweeter a bit below that. SO, how important is it that the tweeter be at ear level? Not vary? or does it just have to be near ear height? Could I get by with shorter speaker stands? I cant say how they sound on stands, yet, since the stands are still on the drawing board. That is why I am trying to find out the near perfect height for the RB5's. Thanks
  3. Dont forget a 500 dollar Best Buy receiver doesnt compare with a 500 dollar receiver on ebay. A new or used ebay receiver is like 1000 or 1200 new in a store. A 500 dollar Pioneer Elite receiver on ebay will kick the pants off a 500 best buy Yamaha or anything else. Thats my personal experience with several receivers and my feelings majorly lean towards the Elites. They are clean and rock.
  4. My goal is to replace it with a RC3 or a KLF-C7 since I will be changing my main speakers. So whatever it takes to do that. If you have one of those or could get one cheap and you would like to trade I would be happy to do that. Otherwise Im not sure If we can discuss selling this thing here. You can email me at waukeetalkie@hotmail.com. Jon
  5. Glycerine from Bush has some enjoyable bass that most people dont realize till in a car with decent subs. Also Wyclef Jean and Ginuine have some classy bass in their songs. I almost stalled my car once while moderately cranking some Ginuine. I discovered I needed a larger capacitor. -Jon
  6. Im looking for something to complement some RB-5s or 3s in a small room/ apartment where room shaking unfortunatly can not be a major plus. What about the RW-10? This is a budget plan. Are the RW and RSW lines both currently being offered? Thanks Jon
  7. How about RB-3s versus the RB-5s? Not a comparison? Tollerable? How far down the food chain are the KSB 3.1s?
  8. I wouldnt worry about the size of the conductor. Clarity is the important part. Patch cables differ from speaker wire in that they arent carrying the signal with such force as having lots of watts behind the signal as in a speaker wire. Also, speaker cable is usually braided wire, with many strands carrying the information on the outside of the strand. Electrons travel on the outside of the strand, that is why speaker cable has hundreds of strands in it at times. That may not help, and im sure there is a scientist on here that can explain it better than I can. The only thing I would be wary of is the number of breaks or connections that you have in the path of your signal. Whenever you involve connectors there invariably will be some signal loss.
  9. Ear, you are sounding like one of those "The Fabulous Life of" shows on tv. "Britney spears could fill her swimming pool 10 times with Crystal Champagn and still have enough to buy the country of Nepal". I dont think I am the only one on this forum that shops on ebay. Although, I sure wouldnt mind seeing those pics of the RSW 12 in your hizzouse. Do you have airplanes crashing into your house from the magnetic field of your subwoofer collection? haha, I hope that doesnt happen. Thanks for the reviews.
  10. I can reply on the sub input, from what I have noticed. Many times there is a selector switch for a mono input, which you could do and run your wire into which ever channel is specified for mono. Or you can always do the Y adaptor thing which many times is included in a subwoofer wire kit. I dont know that it is that necessary. Theorectically some people with out a subwoofer pre-out on their receiver may have a pre-out for a right or left channel and would run that passive signal into the subwoofer, allowing the subs internal crossover to cut off the high frequencies. Some people have noticed the subwoofer output signal on their receivers, to be not that strong, so a person could then use another speaker line level output (pre-out). Out of curriosity, is that RG cable that your contractor used, similar or identical to regular cable tv wire? Probably a little stiff eh, but way more cost effective.
  11. With many new model names each year that are a variation of previous years names, im getting confused. What SW models are there and what RSW models are there? Are they all front firing? Are there good deals to be had on former Reference subs, on ebay? Are they worth having? Thanks jon

    RW-12

I there a way of getting another of those subs from your wifes workplace? Thats a very nice deal. Im interested Jon
  13. I am currently using KG5.5's and a KV3 and to my ears the sound is superb. As I am moving to New York soon and am looking for some referece bookshelf speakers I may be willing to part with my KV3. Its a beautiful real wood veneer, light oak I believe. Let me know. Jon
  14. Thanks for the info thus far. Ill start looking for the Heresy's and the Cornwalls. Dont some of the older speakers have quite vintage looking 'cane' material grills or no? Im not going to try to match any orange shag carpet or anything like that, haha. thanks
  15. Thanks for the input thus far. I wouldnt concider using RB's with out stands, so that shouldnt be a problem. Although my question was originally 'the best Klipsch bookshelfs of 'all time'. I was intending to find out if you all knew of any bookshelf sized speakers made by klipsch that sound as good or better than the new reference series. BTW, I tend to only buy used or cheap off of the internet (ebay). Thanks again. Jon
