  1. I will next time I am in there

so on their floor they have just about everything one could want to hear

they curretly have two sets of Klipschorns on display ( new and used )

What does "just about everything entail?" Being home for winter break I don't have much to do, might as well go check them out.

  2. So I guess this thread can be summed up as, just wait. I waited about 18 hours or so with the speakers that I got from Groomslake sitting in the heater room in our basement. Very similar conditions to what he had down in Florida, and then took them up to where they now reside and let them sit in the boxes for a few more hours yet. I know its exciting to rip them open and get on it but just hold off. Hey looking back at your post its been almost a week, they better be playing by now, haha.

  3. buy a real organ and take lessons

    Hows that helpful???[^o)]

I'd say that obviously it will get better with a good sub. I have the "little KSW10" and I like the performance that I'm getting out of it now and don't have any plans on switching it out, aside from the fact that it's because of financial issues, haha. Why wouldn't the performance get better? A "better" sub will play lower and flatter (likely) so it has potential to be even more musical than the current set up. Or if you like it then stick with and enjoy.
  4. Cool yeah I can leave some room, I have a good 1.5ft behind the couch to push them out.

Would you agree to use the SF-1 towers w/6.5 drivers in the front and move the SB-3 bookshelves w/8' drivers to the rear?

Aside from woofer size will the tower vs bookshelf speaker sound better?

    Thanks Guys!

I just sold my set of SF-1s I had pair of the SB-3s for about two days and then went back to where I bought them and upgraded to the towers. The bass extension is much better. They maybe don't have quite the "punch" in the mid range of the bookshelves, but I'm trying to remember back nearly five years. Either way you will be pleased with them up front given some good amplification. And worse case scenario you can put them back behind the couch and experiement with which you like more. But regardless you will be pleased over the speakers you have now.

  5. Removed the K-77s and replaced with a set of Bob Crites tweeters. This changed the character of the speakers enormously. The imaging is now good and I have a for-real stable phantom image. Thanks, Bob for the good product.

My son put a pair of Bob's tweeters in his Heresies, and it prompted me to put a set in my LaScalas. A very nice improvement.

    Bruce,
Could you describe the difference whether sound impact or whatever else. And did this require any recapping once completed?
    Thanks

  6. Congrats! I have a 2385 in my 2 channel set-up that is WAY overkill. Not only do they sound great, they also look pretty cool!

I definitely agree with that. The walnut on the one I just got is nearly unblemished, only a small amount of glue on the top, but other than that a great looking

    and sounding receiver.
  7. So I got it home and its a beautiful thing. The guy I bougtht it from was the original owner and he definitely took care of it. Sounds as good as anything I've heard in recent memory. The case is beautiful, just got all the pots and such cleaned last year. Very little noise when switching source and what not. No bulbs burnt out or anything. I feel like I got pretty lucky. Only problem is I couldn't plug my sub into the pre out, for some reason it kinda popped when I did (sub turned way down no worries) so I guess it'll be through the B speakers that I'll run it.

  8. Could you move all of the desks and bookshelf towards the back of the room about three feet or so? Just from looking at your drawing it wouldn't be too hard to move them, as only the computer requires power and its little more than a small extension cord or a new power strip with a longer cord. I'll echo the sentiment of no sub behind or to the side of you. It just sounds too disconnected from the rest of the system. Just from looking at the drawing though it would be the best location.
What sub are you thinking of going with?

  9. They are definitely vibrant thats for sure. IMO something only that a mother, or in this case a father, could love. But best of luck with the surgery hope thatit works out well. Though there is always the option of tinkering around and see if you can find some upgrades that will replicate the sound that your LS's had. JAT.

  10. Cool, well as long as there are no big sentiments against it. It sealed the deal for me after he said he got it cleaned last year after saying the pots were scratchy on volume changes. Going to pick it up Sunday night after I get back to school. Thoughts to come then.

  11. Buy it, and when you discover it sucks, send it to me ............................... Big Smile

    Split shipping? LOL

Consider it done !!!!!! .......................... You will like it I'm sure .................... Did you see that Scott 222 in Garage Sale ??????

    No, I did not. Link?

  12. So I have them hooked up and listening to them right now. Wow these are amazing speakers. Granted they are at home on my dad's older receiver (some Pioneer, nothing stupendous) running the Ipod through a dock and into a dirty pair of inputs and wow I'm amazed. The music just has so much more dynamics to it, even at whisper like volumes it's so easy to decipher the different sounds. My old speakers it was muddled into you cranked them a little and then they kinda shone. I haven't really given them a workout yet. I'll save that for when I get home and pop in some CDs with them hooked up to my normal receiver with the subwoofer attached. As of now though I have no complaints whatsoever. After my old speakers either they don't seem as "colored" as everyone said, maybe its just that I'm used to the decisive high end.
    Thanks all for the responses.

  13. Sorry some of these are pretty scratchy. The quality once it gets dark starts diminishing pretty quickly.

    Pretty self explanatory

  14. We got some flurries early in the week, I think Wednesday or Thursday. Luckily they didn't stick so looks like its going to be a brown Thanksgiving here in Michigan.

Sounds fine to me. I will be driving to the Big Puddle (pinky knucle) on US31. That road and the dogleg over to Grand Rapids can be a slick, ugly bear of a drive.

I'm right off of US31 in Holland. Remember the driver three years ago (2004). That was to be light the worst day of travel in my life. A trip that usually takes 2 hour and 45 minutes took 9 hours through the snow and everything.
