Sounds like your pilgramidge is going to be quite an experiance. Since the trip is coupled with business, and "out of town business" at that!!! Brings up a whole new relationship with IRS. Could outfit the vessel with some serious gear and
write it off.An overhead projector to display your computer graphics...mounted of course on a swievel mount so you can turn it to display out the window onto an outside screen setup!
Then sell the stuff to yourself after the trip and bring it inside...WOW...happy sailing!

Correct me if I'm wrong...did'nt BobG make the comment while touting the upcoming "new refs" that the KSP-S6's were the best available match (not a perfect match), and that the RS-7's would match even better!
Can't compare them now, but I'm with you guys..no way I'd pay that kinda dough--even for brand new. I listened to a pair in home once. A-B'd them with my KSF-8.5's, new then that I was not a dipole kinda guy.
Anyway, to each his own
.Now the new refs...I got a serious jones going on there!

We really appreciate you clearing up this issue. It is easy to take ads like this at face value--we depend on information from you to keep us accuratly informed. I have not yet been blessed to have heard these legendary speakers--hopefully soon.

I listened to some classical guitar with those same speakers fed by a Krell setup. Very nice speakers, closed my eyes and the guy was playing right in front of me
! And talk about cabnet work these babies look good. Bang for the buck however, they are not Klipsch.Interesting note: my dealor has these set up by themselves so you cant A-B compare them. Also removed the KLF-30's from the RF-7's, really want to hear that comparison!

A popular thinking is that the more connections there are, the greater the chance for interfearance
or introduced noise. Therefor bare wire should be the best/quietest route...I use banana's & don't have a problem.The rubber plugs in my KSF 8.5's just popped right out with the help of a small screwdriver.

Supertramp--Even In The Quietest Moments" track-8--has some low base frequency sweeps that sound totally awesome! And the horns, pianos etc...WOW!

They have updated the page since the Herritage line went offline. They offer several wood finishes (more expensive that standard finish), yet, still discounted.
So very nice to see prices!

They claim they are the "new models" and ship in 15 days.
They add that dealor restrictions only let them ship in Arizona--but check out the discounts!

I'm with your mom, when I unpacked mine we had the same problem. My x-gf wound up all over them on the couch (hence the x-gf part).
Was really the best thing that could of happened. I now recomend to all of you to have a large woman sit on your cubes! It's the body heat factor--never have I heard such warm sounding music. The only problem is that when I listen to some base heavy rap music they get a little too warm & you can actually smell the music if your sitting close to one of them.
WOW! These things really rock!

Most of my experiance is with Denon/Yamaha. Avman's unit will do well, don't know about the comprable Denon, but I will say that I feel Denon has always sounded a little warmer than Yamaha for music. Just a rough generalization & MHO.
Auditioning this stuff, making a decision, taking it home, hooking it up, tweeking,....this is the hobby!
Check out your local shops & find one you can live with. Get to know the sales staff, pick one out & shoot straight with him/her .Just be careful, this stuff gets in your blood faster then you think

With the Legend series discountinued I'd take advantage of the KLF-C7 pricing now--about 1/2 price on the net & it's a terrific center. You can get the KSW-12 for about the same $'s as this center anytime.

Sound Advice has a really beautiful one--steel frame with suppended glass shelves. Their floor model has the 90 lb Krell amp on one shelf! Talk about well built, can't remember the price--I thinking $400-600, pricey, but a definite fasion statement!

For most of my music I turn the effects off. Every now and then I will use "Pro-Logic Enhanced" or "Rock Concert." My moods change (? moon phase, planetary axis shift, WAF--whatever) from time to time and with this my ears like something a little different.
Strange how one day you listen to something and really enjoy it and the next day it's just not right! SO you start playing around, change this, then that, spend money, talk about it on the web...wow, great hobby!

Don't know which dealor you are using, but, my local dealor (Sound Advice) tells me that they special order discountinued models in large quantities and them use them as promotional "get em in to the store" items.
I have to admit it works...got me into a set of KSF 8.5's & opened my eyes to another...Oh oh I digress!
It seems that Klipsch is not beyond going back into production on discontinued models if they can sell enough of them. Heck, there are in the business to make money. Just wish Sound Advice would order a bunch of cornwalls and have them as "buy 1 get 1 free".

Thats a tought quesntion, my dealor has moved the KLF 30's out onto the showroom floor (not hooked up at all) so I can't compare them. I spent about 2 hours listening the RS 7's a couple days ago with a lot of different music. Unquestionably better highs--the best I have heard so far. They have really worked on that horn harshness/fatigue factor.
The base on the other hand has a lot of room for improvement IMHO. Now I say this cautiously. I was in the showroom and not my house. When I listened to Supertramps "Even in the quietest moments" (which has some really musical low base) I was totally dissappointed. My KSF 8.5's dig on this stuff, without my sub--hitting hard! And I'm also talking about LOW base. I do feel as you go up in hertz there is significant improvement with good, tight base. Will a sub make the difference? I did try a Velodyne (oh no, I've forgotten the model--HGS-10???). Did not help--couldn't get the match/musicicality! May the new ref subs will do it.
Credit due, these are the best Klipsch speaks I've heard so far (no Herritage around here to listen too) and I like them (just more partial to the highs myself). As far as your budget, I might lean towards the speakers. They will be great speakers for many, many years. The technology of amps is changing so fast you may find yourself upgrading sooner than you intend. You could wait for the new subs for a review of their match--and your dealor may stock them by then!

Your choice of digital delivery is going to bring you into the new age! Many people feel co-ax is better since you get a tight fit with the RCA connector as opposed to the toslink connector.
Is tighter really better? I'm with BobG, try em out. Most retailers will let you demo their product in your own home, so don't fret about it.
You are a valued customer that whose business is being sought! So kick back, audition cables and audition more cables, and don't forget...get a discount!!!

Fair price? Just for reference check out the wegivesoundadvice.com web page and look at thier scratch & dent sale. These are floor models and can be discounted heavily.
I agree with Ray on the quality, you should love it!

I'm probably not gonna be much help, haveing not tried to run a second signal to a remote room. But I know my Yammy does this--have to have a second source (ie your other receiver). I'll look at my manuel when I get home & get back to you, meanwhile check out yours as well--has to be a section on playing a second source to a remote location.

It's nice to wire ahead of time, lets you take the time to do things right. I would recommend 12 guage wire (could use Monster Cable in wall). They have 2 & 4 wire applications that are rated for such.
Make your runs as to avoid crossing electrical wires @ 90 degrees (can go through the ceiling if necessary). If you use conduit you will be able to change wire later much easier.
Measure and plan, let us know how it turns out!

I've checked to see if I could access this hyperlink & don't seem to be able to??? If I type in the address it opens just fine. The article talks about how each format works and why SACD sounds more "analog like," helped me to understand a little better. I recommend reading it.

Great name! I think a lot of us would like to be finishers around here...just too many decisions!
Seriously, DD2 gave you some good advice, Klipsch is coming out with their reference subs soon. If price is not a big concern you might want to wait and hear them. This is a great hobby, one that always makes you want to try something a little different/better. So choosing a good sub now will leave you in good shape if you do feel the upgrade bug
. They are supposed to be fast enough to keep up with music with the better speakers.
