I don't get why you would need a false wall for the front.
-
I have the r-5650-s in wall surrounds, I have had them about 3 years they are good quality and sound great in a poorly set up system. So in a good setup they should sound even better but that is in a surround configure with only 5.1. I have not herd the in wall fronts you are looking at, but I do have a buddy with a room about the size of yours if not bigger and he is running cheapo in walls that I think are even smaller then the Klipsch ones and his sounds pretty good. I don't think you would be disappointed with them but like CECAA said if you go with floor standing you won't have problems with your walls when and if you want to upgrade.
I went 50/50 I have floor standing speakers on the l/c/r and the in walls for surround maybe look into this with some nice reference fronts.
Hopefully this doesn't confuse you. Good luck with your search, I think the danely clone for a riser would be a great idea.

Funny in the middle of reading this, my wife calls me. She is down in Georgetown Texas, and happened to stop off at the ikea store in that area telling me how they have great stuff including some nice shelfs for my records.

Duder1982, im not sure if thats a comeback or you want to buy me a bag of dog food??
Sorry I wasn't clear on that, I was saying I would contribute if jhoak was to adopt one or two.
-
I'll buy you a bag of dog food.
D@mn Kimba... I really wish I could help you out with those guys but I'm just barely feeding myself lately.
Should my job situation change soon I'll take at least one an maybe both.
If you want, I could make a donation to help feed them if you were serious??? Thats the norm to do now at the no kill shelters.

That one kind of looks like ginger, but a little darker. Good luck finding them a home, it is a lot harder finding pit bulls homes. Especially around here most city's in the area have bans on them. Nice looking dog.

Has anyone ever tried the 2 or 3 zone for music, on any of the pre pros out there. I was looking at onkyo/integras, and running the 2 zone for my 2 channel in a different room or out side. Since you wouldn't be using audyssey wouldn't it just be pass through to your amp of choice and sound decent. I ask because I mainly will be using the pre/pro for ht use.
As for upgrading I don't see why you would have to upgrade a pre/pro seems like it would get costly considering these companies put out a new one ever 6 months. If the sound quality isn't there to begin with then it wasn't worth the 1200-2400 to begin with. Just my thoughts on up gradeing for sound quality.

Psg is in the process of building one now, I have mine for that exact reason.
Hey there GIL...
That looks GREAT and I must say, I believe it is the first time I have seen K'Horns used in a THEATER setup ! Bet they sound wonderful
Mine are 'up front' also, but for 2 channel only...........the 7.1 stuff is out in front of them... I'll sent you a PM of the photos if you missed them from further back on THIS forum...
.........Gary
ohh, you simply must try it out if/when you can. Don Davis has a 4 khorn + academy + svs pb 12 ultra that simply sounds glorious with movies.
Ohh isnt it to die for??? Heavens to betsy!!

What is behind the doors, maybe closet space the subs could go into.

Wow nice work, its funny how the love of our speakers can bring out the best wood workers in all of us.

Thanks, I just need some audio gear on it now[].

Dido what fritz said alot of my labels have stain on them. I would even remove the screws from the back as well and put some temporary screws in once you get stain or paint in there makes it real tough to take them out for maintaining the drivers, while you have the backs off I would get some new caps for those crossovers.
Hey Groom could one use mineral spirits to lighten up stains. I have a project in mind that needs some cherry stain but I don't want a dark red or cherry just a hint.
Have fun glad you decided to keep them after 25 years.

Welcome you have encountered some nice speakers, sit back in your favorite lazy boy, a glass of wine and of course this compact disc playing on your home stereo.

There are different variations of this, you could just use nuts and washers sandwiching the pieces of plywood which would make it easier to adjust. I even had some 1/2" thick glass but I couldn't get it cut like I wanted to plus it was all scratched up so I scraped it. I like how mapleshade uses some sort of brass adjuster nut but I don't know were to find anything like that. Good luck.

Check out my rack in my avatar, its 4 pieces of granite with 4 5/8 all thread, and pvc pipe in between as spacers cut to size. I am thinking of making another like this with 3/4" plywood or maybe some sacared purple heart wood i have to find a use for some of this but someday I will.

1974 Laphroaig for sedating JB while dtel and I clean out the loot!!
While your cleaning out the loot, look in his fridge to see if there is any meatloaf. Since I moved out of mom and pops I haven't had any in a while.

Oldmako, I had that sub a couple of years ago it was a great sub I had it in 11x22 room and it shooked me pretty good. Now like you said a low book shelve or some sort of a entertainment center will hide all of that and really tie the room together.

What about Onkyo aren't they pretty much the same as integra maybe not as good build quality. But maybe a little cheaper, also what about some other brands such as Rotel, or even Mcintosh which seems would be really expensive.

I miss the bud bowl.

I have noticed that some recievers with pre amp outs don't have 12 volt triggers, Does this mean I have to get up and turn the power amp on everytime. Is there a different accessary that will do it for me. I have a Harman/Kardon avr 247 and Emotiva upa-5
thanks

Gary, glad to see you up and running. You have to enjoy those time capsals that those kids left on the foundation. When ever I build up walls in a house, I like to leave something like a pop can or at least a date for a little fun. Thanks for the photos and keep'em coming.

Gary,
Thanks for your time and all your response, I don't think I will modify the 53. Maybe someday if I come across another clone, or make my own I will try it.
Thanks

If you put your speakers behind the screen make sure you go with audio transparent screen that way it won't muffle the sound.
