  1. My buddy has a Jamestown 120" screen and a all in wall speaker system, with 2 inwall 10" subs being pushed by a Dayton plate amp 240 watts pushing both. Problem is it is rattling It off the wall.

Any screen mounting tips to keep it from falling off the wall.

    Thanks

    Nick

  2. I don't know much about that tone arm, but I would see if there is a free printable compass. This is what I did and copied it to a piece of oak paper. Also see what the weight needs to be on the end of the tone arm for the cartridge/stylus should be. I would think if it is all set up properly you should have no problems.

  3. I sorry it isn't the single one, to the left of the single one is a dual sub out looks like they label it front sub and rear sub I would think you would just use the front one or rear one as were your sub placement is. Hopefully this makes any since. If not let us know.

    Nick

  4. You might need a y adapter connected to your sub like one of these

and this then would run to what looks like the single rca plug to the right of the reciever, might even be purple color coated. There might be better cable to use but I use rg59 for my sub and have no problems but this might give a idea what you need.

  5. I had a issue with my top E string on my bass as it kept breaking I finally had some work done to it about a year or 2 ago, since then I have never replaced my strings. I think it sounds soooo good. then again I don't play as much as a lot of guys do.

sorry to hi jack for a min. now back to the original program.

  6. what kind of phone do you have Nick? I can control winamp from my android phone and tablet. there's a couple of programs available in the Android Market.

"Remote Control" and "Playa Control", they both have their respective plugins and work pretty well. Your library will show up on your phone, lets you queue up songs, create playlists and adjust the volume. It's not as fully featured as winamp but pretty cool. let me know if you need any help of have any questions.

HTC evo 4, I will take a look tomorrow if I get a chance. If I have music on my windows media player, I know they might not be fully losseless or as much as they would have been if I put them all on winamp but if I decide to move all my libary that is on WMP to winamp is there a easy way to do so and will it change any of the format.

    thanks

  7. You guys are cracking my up. The images in my head with guys tip toeing around the house with cd players under their arms like a burglar sneaking around. Setting on the floor with a pile of audio gear looking up at his wife like a little kid getting busted doing something he wasn't suppose to.

See this is were I am able to by time, I once messed up and said I have purchased all the speakers I need for the ht. Doesn't mean I don't have to build any. But were i was going is both of my kids are getting to ages were they want their own setups, I mean didn't we want stereo systems in our rooms at 5 and 8 but who cares gives me a excuse to buy more audio gear[:D].

keep having fun, and keep fighting for the cause.

  8. Going back to this thread, are you still running the Khorns and lascala, or from what your signature says your have your diy speakers. If this is correct how do you feel about the surrounds timbre match with your current setup. The reason I ask is for I am running modified khorns, and lascalas for my fronts, and am looking for the right surround speakers. By modified I have Altec 511bs with K-55 drivers and the Selenium HM17-25 horns with d220ti drivers. My room is way smaller than yours but still want a good sounding surround, maybe going with something like the kpt-8-vbs, or kpt-8001s, which brings me to my next question going back would you still have gone with both model speakers or just chosen one of them and if you were still to go with both models what do you gain by using the 2 different models.

I like the idea of being able to raise these up the ceilings, I don't know if I was to stick with Heresies if I would like them blasting right at my face(plus I want to use them in my 2 channel rig). I think last resort would be to go with a diy surround with using the right selenium products. But that would take some heavy research maybe from other sources.

    thanks

  9. I was using winamp for lossless format, so it is all ready on my comp. But I want to be able to control it from my phone, so far I haven't seen anything were I can control it just move songs to my phone. So I was looking at xbmc which looks like I can use a some sort of controller with this product. Or does anyone know of any controllers for Windows media player.

    Thanks

    Nick

  10. I was looking for any Android based apps that control windows media player 12, or Itunes.

I want to be able to go either into my living room with my main system or into my basement with another, and be able to play different music from different players simultaneously. I think PSG does something like this, but don't understand fully.

you guys understand what I am would like to do and know how to do it let me know thanks.

  11. How close are you guys to 420 E Lamar or BVR, Sorry big Pantera fan.

I'm about 10 mi from 420 E Lamar. "BVR" threw me for a loop. Googling "BVR" AND Pantera returned some stuff about "Big Vin Records". Is that the BVR of which you speak (er...type)?

Yup, Big Vin Records. At least thats the address for the recording studio. I always heard that the Abbott Brothers such as Viny and the late Darrell have lived in that area.

    Your Khorns sound like they would sound nice I hope you enjoy them.;

  12. These are some of the speakers I was looking at building. For the price maybe you could give them a try and see how they compare.

I am looking at the concept of something like these for my surrounds but they may be great for you as well.

Good luck with your search as well, hopefully someone with a vas of knowledge will chime in on our post and give us a hand.

I know the surround aren't that important but It will both me if I know they aren't a closer match, plus I want to you my actually Klipsch Heresies for my 2 channel once I sell my Fortes.

As for me you are right about the cost of these speakers and what you get out of them that is why I chose them, plus to play with upgrades aren't that costly.

  13. Im just board, and was thinking of building a Heresy like clone for my some what Heritage like 5.1 ht. In another post I asked if I should stick with my Heresies or go with my Fortes. I am using for the front 3, 2 Khorn bass bins and 1 Lascala with Altec 511b/k55v, and Selenium HM17-25D/220Ti.

First the main reason I went with the Altecs is for the price, I traded some blown older Kustom colums for the 3 horns. I was thinking of upgrading to some of Gothovers midhorns, I would probably use the same horn for all 3 up front on the mid. Still use the Seleniums for the tweets. I haven't built any tophats in stone yet so new construction isn't a big deal.

If I was to do this what does anyone think to use for a mid if I was to build a Heresy like clone. Would it be ok to make a 2 way or is there a good mid that would match with either of the mids I am/or would use. I obviously would need something that would fit in the size of a Heresy cab. No size of the cabinet doesn't matter. However I would like to keep the Heresy look is all.

I have seen both Gothover, and Bob Crites build a Heresy or Forte like clone(I think but don't quote me on that). Would either of these work for my Surrounds. I think I will use that cleat system I have seen some use to hang speakers on the wall gives them a bit of a angle down and looks nice.

Like I said just board and pondering ideas.

    Thanks.

  14. Tubes and transistors, there's just no getting away from the need to match. So your saying that between channels you need to be matched not just with

In the 4 for one channel. The ones that were refurbished were available in two pairs as 2 pnp and 2 npn I was going to replace the 4 on the one channel but you might be saying I should replace all 8. I wonder if the seller has data on them if they can be matched or not.

  15. Were is all the electronic guys. I have a HK 830 or maybe its a 730 I can't quit remember right now at the moment . But I had a tech tell me that three out of four were bad on one channel. So I started searching and didn't really find anything other from electronic companys over in China mainly that carried them. Then here recently I have stumbled upon a few on ebay. Some being old stock from the states for around 20.00 each shipped, then some that are refurbished from Japan for 10.00 dollars shipped.

What would you trust I have herd of people getting counter fits how could I avoid this.

    Thanks

    Nick

  16. , Windows media player 12 claims to have a lossless format.

I think I am wrong about this. When I first got my new comp a while back and started with WMP 12 I thought I read it supported a flac. But sounds like you have jump through hoops to get this to work.

I don't know if any what I am talking about makes any since, any input would be much appreciated as well.

    Thanks

    Nick

  17. I think for 38.00 I can order a usb sound card and a toslink cable so not much to try both and not be out much. If this doesn't suit my needs, than I will pursue other possibilities.

After I get the comp. moved down stairs the next thing will be what media software to use for play back, Windows media player 12 claims to have a lossless format. I just need to figure how to move all my music to my external hard drive and still run it off of the windows media player.

    Thanks for all your help.

  18. Actually, there are several threads that say to use firewire to avoid clocking issues.

I was talking about using a optical cable, my Behringer fca 202 was a firewire interface, but I can not get driver downloads for windows 7.

From what I read you using a lynix operating system, they seem to not have as many clocking issues with usb 2.0. Do the Behringer usb sound cards run off of usb 2.0 just wondering I was looking at them as the ufo 202 goes for about 30.00 and that will be the next thing I might try for the price.

PSG I have read a few of your post and those are the ones that all ways seem to get me going on other projects.

  19. For about 8.00$ I can order a toshlink or optical cable from monoprice and run it directly to my receiver and see how this sounds.

From what I have been reading using a optical cable is not the best. This website I was reading was recommending a good dac with usb 2.0 this seems to be the best for music since it does the best clocking or master clocking.
