  1. If you are interested in a crossover upgrade, I purchased all new caps from Bob Crites about a year ago that I did not use. I would be willing to sell them at a discount price. Let me know if you are interested, also did you get your wiring figured out how do they sound.

  2. For some reason I quit getting email from this thread, anywho Craig thanks for posting. Once I receive this unit I will take as many pics of the buisness side of things as possible. However I believe one of the cans in the rear is missing this would need to be replaced right off of the bat, I know one of the threads I was reading earlier, you had posted a sight with some replacement cans I think I have it booked marked so this will be first order of action and anything else you recomend. 2nd do you have any source of 7189 tubes I will need a couple of pairs. You don't have to jump back anytime soon I can wait until I send you some pics.

    thanks for your time.

  3. Pm

That's nice that's what I want to get, is that a Thorens table.

I have a td166 mk 2 that will be paired with this system along with either my Heresies or Fortes. I think the one I am getting has the unpowered center so I can run my powered sub

  4. While I await for the arrival of my Scott 299, I am doing a little research. It calls for 4 7189 out put tubes, could the EL-84 be a replacement for these(I am having a hard time locating a couple of matched pairs). Also I noticed on some sights such the tube depot, that there are a couple different priced sets of tubes in the same brand. What does one get out of a higher priced tube, and do I need to keep a expensive power tubes with expensive pre amp tubes and so one.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    thanks

  5. Man am I glad I found this post, I recently picked up one of these off of the bay. I don't I got a great deal but i got a deal I am happy with, the one I picked up is a bit of a problem child as far as one of the caps in the back is broken, but this post helps me a lot since it seems that one of the ones in the back of Mikes is what is was working on as well.

I have found out that you really need to search the different topics in the forum to find what your looking for. Now I will start a new one about tubes, which again alot of question I have were answered by reading this post.

    thanks

  6. I know I should stay away from impulse buying, I just had this discusion with Youthman I think a couple of weeks a go. But a HH scott 299 any model letter a-c which from what I've read the c's are the best. Any who settled for this one 299 don't know why I have a thing for a reasonable priced fixer upper.

So after I fix the things that are broken were should I go from there, once I have my HT done and my main 2 channel system in the next stage I would like to save the money to send this to Craig over at NOS. But for the mean time is there any thing I could repalce fix etc, to get her up to par.

    thanks

    Duder.

  7. Hey subs, I really like your speaker motto. I have recently been trying to live that way for this past year, and man am I glad wait and ask around here, I have made some poor buys in the past but waiting and asking the right questions has left me with what I really want and saved money.

Thanks all for your input, if you guys come across a good projector something for me to give a try, that has component inputs, and can go up to a 110". let me know.

    Thanks

    Nick

  8. well I put the 3d idea a side for now, if I go with something around 1200 mark than I will have to wait 3-5 years before I can upgrade, for now I have been looking for a good used one

There a couple factors one is do really need hdmi or would I be happy with component for now second if stick with a 110" will I have to move it forward or back when I up grade I know most have a range for the throw distance.

  9. Youthman,

Thanks for pointing me to wards that article, it really explained alot. Looks like if I want projections, and 3d I need to wait a bit for the technology to be there.

As for you get what you pay for I understand that completely, I was just looking for a budget projector to start with, and seen those 3d ready ones. I will keep my eye on the Epson, and also look at others with some what smilier specs.

thanks guys at least now I have a idea, like the pre amp I want I will have to deal with what I got until I have the big bucks and the technology is all up to par.

  10. What does this mean when a projector is 3d ready, do I just need some sort of player that plays 3d movie. And do blue ray players play 3d movies. And last but not least are there any budget projectors out there that can get me by for the next couple of years.

The reason I asked, is that there are a couple on the bay that claim to be 3d ready such as.

  11. I don't believe Bob has woofers for the Jubilee cabs. There are readily available drivers that will work, though.

I'll also show my ignorance and ask...who is Tony Ham?

He offers those 12" for the Heresies, I don't know if they will work but i guess its worth a try.

    sounds like fun any way.

  12. Looking at 2 different pairs on the bay the 1.2 are asking 150 obo plus about 30ish for shipping, and the 1.5s are 69.00 obo 43 for shipping but he claims the crossover is acting up.

These would be used for my daughters first 2 channel system, unless someone else has something else they recommend.

I guess I wil also keep my eyes on these.

I prefer something with a nice wood grain which I know 2 of these don't have what I want but for the price might be all I can afford. no more than 150.00 with shipping.

    Thanks

  13. Were Dave's vented LaScalas set up and running when you picked up the Klipschorn bottoms?

Yes they were, they sounded fantastic, he also showed me his homemade deals in his living room. He is a very nice guy, and thank you so much for the lead, do to you and Dave I know have my first pair of Khorns[Y][:D].

    Now for the fun part

    Thanks

  14. Would it hurt anything to take off the mounting board and tighten up those bolts on the back side(wait I think I understand how that all comes out now to tighten off).

. Paper floor underlayment works good too. .

what is this material you speak of.

    Thanks

  15. So I picked up my first pair of Khorns this weekend[:D], one is 53' and the other isn't realy a Klipsch khorns but the builder built exactly like the Klipsch version and signed the inside J.B. Rives.

But my question is I have a pair of Crites cast frame woofers, is the gasket on the driver all is needed, and what is the best thing for the access cover to use as a sealer. If there is anything else a new owner needs to know about installing new drivers in these fell free to input any 2 cents worth is worth it to me.

    Thanks

    Nick

  16. Cask

thanks for the input, how did you go about getting a refurb model, also the dhc9.9 can be had nos for about 1000. Course its all most 2 years old. What is Audyssey Pro and what external instrumentation do you have that takes place of it.

Cecaa, I do own a older NAD reciever I just don't care for the sound, another forum member and a friend of mine on here has NAD everthing and hes does sound great, I only seen to find the master series came as just a pre/pro, but haven't looked futher. Also we need to have a chat about those IB subs, I think the first thing I need to do is figure which side of the room I want to plant my ht that will help me decide location and style for one. Anyways thats a hole nother descusion and time.

    Thanks guys.

  17. I was have recently been looking at the Integra line for a pre/pro for my HT I have a Emotiva 5 channel amp,. I have also been looking at Rotel, I know there is a big discussion on here for the Emotiva pre/pro but seems to me there is some kinks to work out.. Couple of issues I am looking at is thx certified, and hdmi pass through, I only have 1 source that isn't hdmi but I don't want to have to run another cable through the wall. Any Ideas.

    thanks

  18. I have searched for a better quality Rg-6, and used it to make short run interconnects. I just had a longer run thought it would be more necessary to use balanced. I am interested to see how you installed a resistor on when terminating. I think I will look at prices next to help decide I guess that could make the decission. Doesn't seem to be a big issue, for what I am doing for now I guess even some cheaper rg6 would be all right unless the balanced isn't to expenssive.

Any one know xlr is wired to the 1/4"connectors.

    Thanks for the info guys.
