your right I did say I wanted to try something new, just not 2,000 right now. This is just my family room. not looking for the best right now I have to have my priority in check before I make that purchase. but 999 seems a little better.
  2. Well I have received the furman today and thought it does not seem to get rid of the rfi/emi on the system as I thought it would. However the system doesn't pop when I turn on the lights, I still need to check the wash machine but if I don't blow anymore tweeters it is worth the 50.00.

  3. djnick as good as it sounds, I don't have that kind of cash right now. I thank you for your opinion I will maybe look into them when I do a complete home theater. But I also do think that some of my problem lies in my room since the wall the sub is on opens to a stair way to one side and the rest of the room is open to the kitchen on the other.

Maybe I will post some pic of my room so you all can get a Idea.

  4. If your talking about me I confuse myself. Sometimes I get excited and start rambling and saying things that aren't important to the question, or even answer. Sorry if I talk to much,

Basically I was just saying that once I have money I will be looking for a new sub. But before I spend my time trying out subs maybe someone has a Idea what could be the issue with the sound coming out of mine. That's all.

    Hopefully that wasn't to confusing.

  5. Funny but scary story, when I got my rc-52 I just bought a piece of furniture grade pine and some shelving brackets from my local lowes. I bought what I thought was the appropriate anchor screws. I hung the shelf with 3 brackets 6 nice anchor screws, even tested to see if it would hold my wait(maybe that was the first problem) but it stood the test of time which was about a year when I was moving. I guess the rc-52 was ready to goto the new house. On the last day which was the day I was getting all my electronics I was upstairs when I heard a crash. Ran down stairs to see my shelf had fallen on top of my Sony t.v.. You know you have good quality stuff when nothing breaks( though I did notice a small black line had formed in the top right corner of the screen months later, I don't notice it when watching movies. But if anyone hangs a shelf in the wall make sure the anchors you get are over rated, or like youthman said gooooo for the studs.

  6. After I replace all my tweeter diaphragms, a pair of caps. Pay for my wedding I am seriously looking for a new sub, I think. I have a ksw12 which I used to think was great but that was at my old house in a 11x22 family room in the basement on a concrete floor, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. But since I have moved into my new house the sub doesn't seem to do what I like. I have tried a couple of different spots that aren't near a heater vent. I have tried different cables. But I can't seem to get in tuned for movies.

What I am saying is that it sounds great for music but when it comes to explosions in movies it sounds fluttery like flatulence. Maybe something is wrong maybe its the fact its a ported sub. Maybe its my new family room setup. I don't know for some reason I think I need to try a sealed sub. But maybe not, any suggestions I know theres a lot of sub woofer guys out there.

Look forward to all the ideas

P.S. I have put the sub in my favorite spot and crawled around on the floor to try and find the best spot. And two of them are about the same which aren't near a vent.

  7. James,

You an Outkast fan? I've been listening to the since the 6th grade (1993). Easily my favorite hip-hop group of all-time. Southernplayalistic... is a true classic

    Yes I am....

Man thanks for reminding me how old I am, 6th grade in '93 wow...... Surprise

    James

I never made it pass the 6th grade so I don't remember how long ago that is.
  8. I have had the chance years ago to hear Rf-7s with HK and that's what turned me onto both, I think what Fish might be saying is drop the yamaha all together and just go with the HK 3390, there are some great reviews on this forum regarding that particular model. It has a lot of iron in it and a good sound. Just my two cents worth, unless you are using the yamaha as a surround processor that could be a whole other topic, like Wuzzer said maybe just get a separate power amp.

  9. I was looking into the OPPD Surge protector, the guys at The Sound Environment said it doesn't hurt as a back up. But do not rely on it. I have just ran a extension cord to another circuit and I don't get the pop issue so I believe it is that exact circuit, is that a bad ground issue. If so I guess it could be anywhere in the chain of ground were it goes bad. I assume the best way to take care of it is to either use a conditioner or ground the outlet directly to a cold water tap(but that would require a lot of wire down to the basement)

  10. But anytime something is turned on, rather it be a light or something plugged in to that circuit I get a loud pop through the system.

Are you using a surge protector/ filter for your amp/ receiver/ tv/ dvd/cd/blue ray player?

You should consider it, if you are blowing tweeters from turning lights off and on......

    Good luck.

I did read about this else were on the web I am using a cheap surge protector, maybe I should consider a filter/conditioner of some sort.

My main concern is that if there is something wrong with the electrical system, I need to find out so I can turn it in for a warranty claim on the house,(was built with a two year warranty) some electrical problems are covered.

I have a start, I will try a couple of things next weekend when I have time.

    Thanks

  11. I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I can't take it any more. I have blown one tweeter since this and I don't know what to do about or what the source even is. Could use some help.. But anytime something is turned on, rather it be a light or something plugged in to that circuit I get a loud pop through the system. I just replaced my tweeters about 6 months ago in a great working environment now I have another out which I feel might be to this problem. Anyone got any suggestion, I remember a thread about this before, but I think it was a little different situation. I am a afraid to even listen while the wash machine is going which is 90% of the time.

    Thanks in advance
