  1. Very nice review on the Merlin ! Wish I could read a similar review on the Blueberry MkII just for some more info as I didnt get any paperwok with the preamp. Are you A.Colin Flood I went to pick up the Fisher 400 today, after having it restored , at my techs and decided to take the Blueberry with me. He has the tube amps that I demoed so it was a chance to listen to the BB. First thing he did is take it to his bench and hook it up to his equipment to test it. He was very, very, very impressed and couldnt wait to hear it. He was so amazed by the sound that he wanted me to leave it with him for awhile and I did. I want to give Mike (USNRET) a special thanks for telling me not to hesitate and just buy it and I am happy that I did. I can not wait to hear it on Mike,s VRD equipment. Don
  2. There are endless combinations. On my first test I listened to the same song 14 times in a row. Once with the stock cable and then with the modified cable on all 7 power cables.

  4. When the boss gives you her FINAL ANSWER that will be fine. I am just very gracious to get the offer.
  5. I am willing to bet you could not believe the sound of that little H/K 430. I have one on my Chorus IIs and love it but keep in mind that its not just the 430 making Klipsch sound good its the Klipsch making the 430 sound good because they are so efficent.
  6. Hey Bill, You missed trying the best one for the Quartets. Its a Sansui 8080db and I personally loved it with my Quartets. I think the Quartets are the absolute best speaker under the Chorus II that Klipsch sells. ( strictly my opinion ) I used the only thing that Bose ever made that was any good and that was their tulip stands to raise them up off the floor. Heres what they looked like.
  7. Winchester21, Its not that bad, I have only been into this new hobby for 2 1/2 years. What I really worry about is if I am going to have room enough to still put a bed in 10 years.
  8. Great ! I am right between I-35 and I-30 just north of Dallas.
  9. Ok, it ain't my stuff we're talking about BUT after listening to several make/models of SS on my system (and for a very short time on KHorns in a most inappropriate room), here's my way of spending your money.Order the VRDs custom matched to your system, list the extra stuff for sell and with stereo gods smiling the sell and build completion will be simultaneous. You do need to check with the builder to see how long he queue is these days. I may be coming thru to visit my Mom up near Texarkana about 3rd week of June. Would you like to host the VRD stereo model for a few days while I am in the area? Not the monobloc but would give you a "feel". Wow !! That would be fantastic. When I demoed the monoblocks I had them for 2 days during the week so I took off work for 2 days just to make the best of it. What amazed me the most is that on ss I really only liked a couple of songs on each cd. The tubes made every song sound great !
  10. Help a po' boy out and buy NEW at the forum discount. If I can make up my mind to sell some of my SS collection I might can make that happen. I really only listen to about 20% of it right now anyway. I just had a Fisher 400 restored that i bought from a forum member. I cant to get it back and see what it sounds like but it is not for my main system
  11. You shouold contact MaxG on the forums. I haven't heard from him in awhile, but he lives in Greece and is familiar with those amps (if I remember correctly). He could also give you the lowdown on them.Bruce Thanks Bruce, After listening to them I started looking to buy and googled them. I contacted Max after reading an old thread from 2004. He was really surprised knowing how old the thread was. He couldnt help me other than tell me to try ebay. I even looked through Craigslist in Greece and there wasnt even any ss gear for sale. ( strange ! ) Gary Dodd (Dodd Audio) only lives 20 minutes from me and from what I read he builds nice tube amps and preamps which I have listened to at his house. But the key was listening to this stuff on my khorns and just not believing how what I thought was the best sounding speakers I had ever heard just sounded atleast twice as good. Thats a big jump for me. I see alot of members that have VRD amps so I feel pretty comfortable that they will sound fantastic and I would be very happy with them if I can find any.
  12. Winchester21, Thanks alot for your advice. I will definately post a want ad. The tech who let me demo his Tsakiridis monoblocks pictured in the link at the beginning of this thread has finally agreed to shoot me a price on his. This does not mean that I will not buy Craigs VRD,s it just means I will be more enlightened by tubes by the time that I find some VRD monoblocks. If you have looked at this thread you have seen I am not afraid to own multiple pieces of gear at the same time. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/135036.aspx We will see what happens. Don
  13. I am strongly considering the VRDs but do not know anything about them. What would they sell for in the used market if I could find them
  14. Thanks Josh, After USNRET and Fini said not to think just buy I knew it had to be good. I always take the advice of my piers ! I would like to find a set of monoblock tube amps to go with it I just dont know what to look for.
  15. When I clicked the picure and enlarged it is shows to have a stand-by mode. Does that mean it is a Blueberry Extreme?
  16. I just purchased a Juicy Music Blueberry from a forum member. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/135531.aspx . I dont know anything about these, I am just wanting go down the tube sound road. I am been trying to do some research on it. I keep seeing Blueberry Extreme. Are these the same or is there a difference.
  17. It is not a Heresy II it is a Hersey. Judging by the logo I would say 77 or 78. Ask the seller for the serial numbers.
  18. What you have here is a set of decorator Heresy with all the right parts. They have the lazer logos which are also desireable. I am not sure what they will sound like with the holes in the speaker but you can get replacements
  19. You are correct, it is the European version of the SX-1050 !
  20. It doesnt look like you got it but it does look to be in great condition. I sold mine a couple of months back for $500. It was a very nice receiver I just decided to sell all my Pioneers.
  21. I received alot of good advice from the friendly people here on the forum. If anyone would like to read that thread here it is. Thanks Again Thebes ! http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/100052/1009904.aspx#1009904
  22. Dont make me go into my bedroom and take pictures of my Harmon Kardon, Marantz, Yamaha and Kenwood collections ! This is all the fault of one man, and that would be Sir Thebes. Two years ago when I retired from drag racing I decided to pick up audio / video for my new hobby. I bought 4 sets of no-count Bose 901,s. Then after reading this forum about the Khorns I located a set. I posted a thread about buying the Bose and said that I have found a set of Khorns and ask what I should do. Thebes said box up the Bose and sell them and buy the Khorns, so I did and have not looked back. Thanks Thebes !!!!!!!
  23. Well that my friend is obvious! Anyone (everyone) that has ever had any slightly angry 'conversation' with anyone in the household about buying, spending, trading anything related to music instead of purses, shoes or children's college fund. That my friend is why I am the only one in my household . Life is GOOD !
