  1. I have been listening to a pair of KG-5.5's for a month or so, now. I have been shocked at the improvement over what I felt was a decent pair of Polk Monitor series speakers(Monitor 50's). A good kind of shock, mind you, but seriously very nice sound. It is a matter of time before I go the Heritage route and, shoot, can tubes be far behind(although I do like my Sansui 771, with the Hagerman phono preamp)??
  2. exactly my experience......I auditioned the KG 5.5's on a run-of-the mill HT amp, not impressed, but suspected they were capable of better. I bought them, knowing I could turn them over, and hooked them into my Sansui 771. Very nice result!
  3. As others have said, it is good to have test records/cds that you know well, as well as a range of sonic types. My personal list, which I just trotted out this past week to test my newly acquired KG 5.5's was: 1.Dire Straits--Brothers in Arms(LP) --good overall mix of sonic qualities. 2.Soundrack to Ska movie "Dance Craze"(LP)--good percussion mix 3.Boney James--Ride(CD)--wild range of vocals and dynamic, lots of detail on this one 4.James Taylor--JT(LP)--subtle acoustic work, nice bass, obviously lots of voice work 5 Del Amitri--Twisted(CD)--lots of dynamic shifts I toss this list out only by way of example of how I put a mix of test tunes together. Hope that helps.
  4. The Voices don't frighten me so much as the Bats. They're everywhere!! And, yes, I did crank them up a couple of times so far. Nice. Very nice!
  5. This week, I came into a very well cared for pair of KG 5.5's very cheaply. Based on what I have heard the past couple of days, I think this might be the start of a long journey in the Klipsch club! Thus, I joined up and just wanted to say "hello".
