I had a 250 and 3600, sounded great but had to fix em a bunch of times, finally replaced the system with Sansui stuff ( which I love) now the only marantz I have is some mono blocks, ma500 and ma700, very good stuff.

I would shoot higher and buy it piece by piece as you can afford it. Start with a pair of rf-7 II's, they have plenty of bass and should keep you happy till you can fill in around them, they put the 82's to shame....I had 82's and was not impressed.
If you are willing to go used you can pick up a pair of RF 7 1's for 500-800.

I have a lead on a pair of Khorns, they are asking $1200 but are "extremely motivated" to sell. They are missing some veneer on the trim around the top hats so they need a little work. I auditioned these 3 years ago, they sounded great but the price was higher and since then I bought a mahogany "2nd" pair and there is no way and no room for me to buy a third pair. They are in a suburb of Boston. If you are interested send me your phone number and I will pass it on to the seller, they would be pick up only,
