  3. quote: Originally posted by discorules: I thought when you get elected, it was to represent the people, not areas where you only find cactus and tumbleweed. By the way the people were serious when most of them voted for Gore. Do you want representation for ALL -- or for just the large cities? I guess that depends on what it takes to elect a liberal...that's all that seems to matter to you.
  4. Hillary for pres -- scary indeed, but I don't think it will happen. I don't think she can get the union vote like a male can. I don't agree with that reasoning, but I have many problems with (communist) unions. On a different note, the more I hear Colin Powell speak the more I see him as Pres or Vice Pres (after George W finishes his second term).
  5. quote: Originally posted by discorules: I have my own sex life. Most of us didn't need to experience it vicariously through President Clinton, the best President in our lifetime. So when a superior has sexual relations with a subordinate that's okay? So if your 18 year old daugther was banging her 48 year college english professor (to get an A) you wouldn't have any problem with that? Or if she was 20something and blowing her 60 year old boss at some large corporation (to get a promotion) that would perfectly fine with you? So when someone outright LIES to a grand jury that is okay with you? A lie is a still a lie -- no matter the reason behind it. Clinton could have saved everyone a lot of trouble and money by just fessing up in the first place. Man you really take the cake! I have liberal friends and we get along fine, but you are so utterly brainwashed that you can rationalize anything to be okay as long as it furthers your cause. BTW, cybergeek really has you and your spinmaster tatics pinned.
  6. quote: Originally posted by discorules: No more so than I would think read my lips Bush would raise taxes. Just who was so he11 bent on raising taxes? I don't believe it was Bush Sr's idea. It was the democrat congress who wanted the taxes raised (for a number of reasons). Well your buddy Clinton knowingly lied about his relations with the intern (among his other lies and half truths) -- but I'm sure that is okay to you!
  7. quote: Originally posted by discorules: Bush Jr came into a prosperous economy. You are really living in a dreamland. The economy started slowing BEFORE George W was even elected. Look for yourself -- the tech fall-out had already begun. Like I said before, you proably believed Gore when he said that he invented the internet too! LOL...
  8. quote: Originally posted by discorules: This should still be a nation of laws, not secret military tribunals. I just saw this: Americans favor Military Courts Well it appears you are in the minority. This message has been edited by STL on 11-28-2001 at 11:57 PM
  9. quote: Originally posted by discorules: As for Florida, the count depended on your point of view. Certainly if all the votes were counted, Gore won Florida. The narrow counts would have given Bush the win there. I will say that despite all of that, the officials in Florida had no intentions of letting Gore take the state anyway. Just in terms of sheer numbers, Gore had more people voting for him than Bush. So clearly most Americans believed Gore to be the better man. While I disagree with just about all your points, the above one is the only one I will take the time to address. It was Gore who wanted the selective recount because he just wanted the heavily democratic counties recounted because that is where he was most likely to gain votes. I bet you believe Gore invented the internet too, right!?! LOL Recounting should be left to just machines since they are truly non-biased. Every person has a bias that will impair their judgement to some extent. Yes, machines might not be 100% correct, but their mistakes are random and not biased. I still cannot believe some of the arguments that came out during that recount. Gore's people were trying to get punch cards with multiple holes punched for president counted for him. They way I see it, if someone cannot read those simple directions and follow them, then they forfeit their vote. If they don't have enough grey-matter to do that (or if they are too lazy to take the time to read and follow the directions) then how can they possibly truly understand the two canidates and what the stand for? I myself would rather this country have officials they were elected by at least somewhat intelligent people -- rather than people who are too stupid or lazy to get their ballot right. BTW, my county also uses punch card ballots. Despite the liberal press's attempts to make them seem complicated, the truth is they aren't. 10. Can anyone tell me in which speakers are (or were) these drivers used: K-1064-SV, K-1079-SV, and K-1075-SV? I believe the last driver was used in the original SF-1 towers, but has since been replaced with the K-1078-SB driver. I tried using the search function both here and the on Klipsch's website but neither turned up any info.
  11. quote: Originally posted by PhilH: Forrestthump: I'm not sure who dirtied your cornflakes lately, but the personal attacks are NOT needed here. I'm all for debate (heck, that's what makes this forum fun) but it seems your debating has turned into plain mudslinging, and that is starting an ugly trend. I find it odd that you single out forrestthump when others have been mudslinging too. For instance: quote: Originally posted by TheEAR: ForrestDum, Dear F.Dumb ... quote: Originally posted by discorules: So it really is true. Stupid is as stupid does. ... It is that you agree with the views of TheEAR and discorules so you choose to leave out of it? It sure appears that way to me. This message has been edited by STL on 11-28-2001 at 09:40 AM
  12. quote: Originally posted by discorules: Like so many things, we didn't appreciate the good we had until we begin to experience some real crap. As a President Clinton supporter, I think more people will realize how good things were during his term. Yes, I'm sure all the people in NYC and the families of those who lost their lives in the WTC are so very happy that Clinton stood idle and never seriously took on Bin Laden after his numerous attacks (towards US citizens) during the Clinton administration. Willie was too busy playing with the intern (and who knows who else) to do his job. As time moves on, I'm sure history will tell just how dirty and corrupt he and his administration was!
  13. I have a compared the K-85-K horn in my KG5.5s with the K-85-K horn in my KG4.2, and although the share the same model number I see several physical differences. I was curious why -- anyone know? I also wanted to know how the differences might affect the sound (since I'm using the KG4.2 as a center to match my KG5.5s front mains). Pic of the K-85-K driver in my KG5.5: Pic of the K-85-K driver in my KG4.2: Notice the center portion of the horn is different. Also the surface of the horn is much smoother on the KG5.5 compared to the KG4.2 (but that might be hard to see in the picture). Also the material the actual horn is made of is different among the two -- with the KG4.2 seemingly having the "better" material. Lastly, the KG4.2 had a textile dome/diaphram whereas the KG5.5 have a poly one. I already replaced that textile dome with a poly one in hopes that would help the KG4.2 horn better match the ones in my KG5.5s. Any insight would be appreciated... 15. I agree that ferrofluid isn't anything special (as far as calling out its use). I have opened up tweeters in a KG4.2 and KV3 and neither had any ferrofluid. I wonder know if it could have "dried up" or if those drivers never had it.
  16. FYI, I have a pair of KG5.5s and think highly of them.
  17. quote: Originally posted by STL: Or go to www.partsexpress.com and look for part #260-335. They sell acoustically transparent grill cloth for about $7 per yard (by 67" wide) so it's a lot cheaper. They even sell the 3M spray adhesive that you could use to attached it (for like $8 can). BTW, if those cats haven't learned to appreciate your Klipschs then maybe it's time to get rid of the cats. Maybe I can help. I have ONE extra grill for a KG4.2 that I might sell you. Let me know what Klipsch wants and maybe we can make a deal. I can even take some digital pictures so you can access it's conidition (which I think it good). Let me know if you a interested...

  19. You probably just need a new diaphram which should run less than $40 I believe. Just call Klipsch (at 1-800-klipsch). I believe the oily stuff is ferrofluid and is used to help keep the voice coil cool by helping transfer the heat from the voice coil to the magnet structure.

  21. Sure they want you to exhange those cables so they can make even more $$ on you -- plain and simple. BTW, component video cables are NOT anything special. It's just three (75ohm) composite video cables with the price jacked WAY up. My suggestion, stick with what you have instead of throwing any more money away. I'm not saying all cables are equal, but you do reach a point (fairly quickly) where you are really just paying extra money for a fancy name and flashier looking cable. Don't believe the hype!
  22. The dude says "I was so high I could not move" and he expects us to believe he actually remembers what really happened!! LOL... It's probably his mini meth lab that blew up...
  23. Actually it would be optimal to have the same speaker in every location, but that's hard to do. More important than the rear speakers, is having a matching horn on all three front speakers. It can been done, but it will require buying a lone KG4.2 and building a new box for it (and having the room to place it in the center). I myself have KG5.5s for main fronts and bought a single KG4.2 (since it shares the same tweeter as my 5.5s) that I'll re-box and use as my center.
  24. Don't sell those KG5.5s. They are excellent speakers! And I wouldn't even consider replacing those drivers. The K-85-K horn is a awesome horn. I have the crossover schematic somewhere, I am a Electrical Engineer and have access to inductance meters and such. The parts didn't look all that cheap, but I can probably dig the info up after Thanksgiving. I myself am also thinking about rope caulking the horn and replacing the exisiting speaker wire. Other than that (and maybe re-enforcing the cabinets) I can't see a lot to upgrade.

You might give the guy another day or two and start to look into making an insurance claim. I guess I've been lucky and never had to go that route.
