  1. You'll like it Schu. I've been using one for the past year with an AT OC9/MLII and it's a nice table. Recently added a Q-Up so I don't have to jump up at the end of an album side.
  2. Never mind. I decided to give a Bottlehead Reduction with the Integration upgrade a try instead.
  3. I always see those forum threads that go "what equipment do you regret selling the most ...?". This is one of those things. I've bought and sold a ton of equipment, and usually it's "meh". But I do wish I would've hung on this this one...
  4. Like a dumbass, I sold my low s/n unit (003, I think, with the wood ends) with the internal SUT on this forum last year because I needed more gain. Well, the system has changed yet again and I'd love to have it back! Or, any Budgie, for that matter (I don't need the SUT right now). Anyone have one for sale? I know I can buy another one from Shannon, but I thought I'd see if there are any on the used market first. Better yet, anyone have my original one they want to resell to me? Tom
  5. GREAT phono preamplifier with a tube output stage. Upgraded with Obligatto 1uf Premium Gold capacitors, NOS Matsushita 12AX7A tubes, and OPA 627 (genuine) op amps, which replaced the (4) OPT37G in the input stage. I will include the original op amps and tubes so you can roll them if you want to (but I'm guessing you won't!). The tubes also include two vibration damping rings each. The physical condition is NM, and it functions perfectly. It will be double boxed in original packing and with the original tubes and op amps (as well as the installed upgrades, naturally),original manual and power cord. For the record,I have run this with an AT150Mlx and am currently using it with an AT OC9/MLII, and it sounds great with both of them. The flexibility of this unit is amazing! $525 + shipping. Shipping will probably be $20-$25 or so in the CONUS via USPS Priority Mail, if I had to guess.
  6. Finally got around to looking at the tubes. The magic eye tubes are Russian 6E1P. For anyone interested in the amp, I have 8 spare power tubes and 2 spare magic eye tubes, so you would be set pretty much forever. They would all be included in the sale. I don't have an extra 5ar4 rectifier tube, but those are readily available. Thanks!
  7. It uses (2) 6s45P-e power tubes per channel and a 5ar4 rectifier tube. Offhand I don't recall what the magic eye tubes are (I'll look when I get home), but they really don't serve any purpose other than to add a little visual entertainment to the mix And they each have a level control so you can make them as active (or inactive) as you'd like.
  8. Well, it just sold this morning! And someone got a good deal. I still have my 6s45P-e amp on the block, which is actually even a much nicer amp. And it will easily drive your HE Klipsch speakers ... had no problems driving my Forte II's!
  9. No love for a nicely built 5 watt single ended power amp? It'll drive your Heritage series with ease! And it sounds great to boot! I'm open to interesting trade offers, so give me a try. Here's a link to the build thread of you want to know more about it. I bought it directly from Tim, the builder. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/252575-thats-what-she-said-rh84-build-log.html
  10. Bump for price and offer change. This is a great deal!
  11. I will check on this one. Not sure how this is set.
  12. Interesting thread. But I'm not in search of making my digital source equal my analog source, just to make it sound better than it does through the internal DAC in my CDP, while keeping the convenience of being able to control Spotify on my iPad with my iPhone! The more I read, the more sure I am that I need to invest in a decent DAC. The question is, which one to get that will accommodate an iDevice connection. I don't want to go through the effort of incorporating a music server, Mac Mini,or anything like that. I've heard my friends' digital front ends that sound terrific, so I have no doubt they can get there. But not without some significant investment. I'm just looking for a step or two improvement, at a reasonable cost.
  13. Yeah, it's a great way to preview music before plunking down cash on new vinyl. But I'd still like it to sound better!
  14. So I'm a hardcore vinyl guy ... built a listening room around my vinyl rig, and have enjoyed it immensely. But, I've been expanding my jazz collection and repertoire, and I've found that a good, affordable way to find out what I like before I shell out good $$ on quality vinyl is to preview it on Spotify. So, I'm using the USB connection on my Yamaha CD-S300 CDP to allow me to Spotify through my system. I currently have one of my iPads connected to the CDP. What I really like is that I can control that iPad (through Spotify) with my iPhone remotely from my listening chair. It's awesome! What isn't awesome, though, is the quality of the music playback. It's not horrible, but it's certainly many steps below my analog rig. I'm wondering what a logical, and affordable, upgrade path would be. I would be willing to add a DAC, to replace the CDP connection I'm currently using, but I'm not sure what to get that will allow me to use my iPad/iPhone combo like I am now. I know there's a couple iDACs out there (Wadia and Arcam come to mind) but I know precious little about them. Or is there a better way to accomplish what I want to do? I'm not looking to spend a fortune as this will never supplant my analog rig as my primary source. But I would appreciate an improvement in sound quality. Thanks in in advance for your advice! Tom
  15. Open to reasonable offers. Also interested in trade offers for a DAC (maybe) or a quality MM or MC cartridge that still has plenty of life left and no issues.
  16. Richieb, Did you ever sell the Budgie? I was the original owner, and I'd be interested in owning it once again... Tom
  17. Bump to include the separate passive volume control/preamp. This is a great set up to get you into tubes, if you're new to the tube world. Plenty of power to drive your Klipsch speakers (easily drove my Forte II's) and it sounds terrific!
  18. Small chassis (6"x10" top plate) RH84 build. Walnut base with 1/8" thick aluminum top plate. Utilizes a Hammond choke and 5w Transcendar OPTs. All point-to-point wiring and no hum. Output is about 5w/ch, although it sounds much more robust than that on my Omega A8's. Included is a pair of Chinese EL84s and a new pair of matched Sovtek EL84Ms, which improve the bass (IMO). The amp sounds great, as an EL84 SE design (and the RH84 in particular) is known to. And it's small footprint allows it do be used in a desktop or on a rack where it won't take up much space. No issues with this one. The only reason I am letting it go is to fund a new Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2, which pairs beautifully with Omega's. $375 + $20 shipping in the CONUS. Add 3% for PayPal. I'll pack it to survive nuclear blasts and UPS corner drops.
