  1. I used it with my Cornwalls too ... and it was a terrific match!
  2. SOLD Pass Labs First Watt J2 Power JFET Amplifier in terrific condition. From the FW site, "New Silicon Carbide JFET transistors, higher power 25 watts, lower distortion, single ended class A circuit". The J2 has a sound that is warm and relaxed, combining precision and detail without sterility. Rated class A in October Issue of Stereophile. I am the second owner (since September 2016), and it was originally purchased from Reno HI-FI the beginning of 2016. It has not moved from my smoke and pet free dedicated listening room since I've owned it, and has only driven 98dB+ 8ohm speakers, so no hard use. Amplifier will be shipped in the factory package with heavy duty power cord and user manual and time left on the three-year transferable factory warranty. Buyer pays shipping, I will cover the PP fees. It will ship from 53147 (WI). I'm in Lake Geneva, WI and a local sale would be great! For the record, I love this amp but some medical bills necessitate that I pull some $$ out of my system right now. Photo is attached but it won't let me load more due to storage limits ... I can supply a lot more, just ask. Reasonable offers will be considered, but I'm not desperate to sell and won't be giving this one away! I am also including a felt-backed Naugahyde dust cover that I had made specifically for this J2. Tom
  3. Bump for a great phono pre before sending it to A'gon. I would also consider a trade/partial trade for a well-reviewed linestage preamp with remote.
  4. Great sounding and flexible phono pre that will handle any MM or MC cartridge you throw at it. Plus, its battery powered (rechargeable battery) so the noise floor just isn't there. I'm the second owner, but the pre is in perfect condition. I don't see any marks on it, and it functions perfectly. I use it in a pet and smoke free dedicated listening room, with my VPI Classic 1 and AT OC9/MLII cartridge. Only selling to free up some cash as I broke my femur and need to buy a linestage preamp with a remote (too difficult to get up and down on crutches). Plus, I don't see myself needing MM capabilities anytime soon, so I'm going back to a MC only preamp. I have the original box, packaging and manual, as well as the power supply. No issues at all! Save $325 off new for a unit that could pass as such. I posted a pic of the front and back, but can send more of anything you want to see, just ask. I'd also consider a trade/partial trade for an affordable linestage pre with remote that would play nice with my First Watt J2. SOLD and I'll eat the PP fees and shipping in the CONUS.
  5. I've bought sold a few tables and related items. AR XA, AR XB, Empire 398 and a Marantz TT15S1. I've since purchased a new VPI Classic 1 and I'm not looking back! Although all those other tables were keepers too, and I had fun refurbing the vintage ones. By the way, that Nova II is already sold! It lasted about 20 minutes on A'gon. It was a smoking deal!
  6. I hear you. If I had the funds, I'D buy and resell it for a profit! I paid $700 for mine a couple months ago By the way, that AR is a really nice example. Someone will be happy with that one.
  7. Jim, if I may make a suggestion, I would jump all over this one: https://www.audiogon.com/listings/phono-musical-surroundings-nova-ii-phono-preamp-2017-05-23-preamplifiers-92625-corona-del-mar-ca I have owned a number of phono preamps, and currently own one of these. It is excellent. MM/MC, flexible loading AND it's battery powered and dead silent. And this particular one is a smoking deal as they typically go upwards of $700 on the used market.
  8. I have used this phono preamp for the past 2 years with great results. I have successfully used it with a Denon DL-103r, Denon 301 MkII, AT-OC0ML/II, AT-PTG33/II and Ortofon Rondo Blue, which speaks to it's flexibility. The only reason I am selling it is because I have the upgrade bug, and want to try a MM pre/SUT combo. There are no aesthetic flaws, and it's performance is perfect. Below is a statement on it that I copied and pasted from the web. I also included a link to a nice review of the Coph Nia tested with a Zyx cartridge."The Coph Nia phono preamplifier is designed for the connoisseur who appreciates good analog sound . It supports MC cartridges and has variable input load settings that range from 47 Ohms to 47K ohms , internally switchable , in six positions , 47, 100 , 470 , 1000 , 4700 , and 47,000 Ohms respectively . The gain is 60dB and the RIAA equalization curve is very precise .Using the latest IC technology as the active component is the only way to get ultra low noise level from the sensitive low output MC cartridges. This together with totally separate power supplies and transformers for each channel assures this phono stage will bring the utmost listening performance .The main audio board is a dual mono construction . Even the ground planes are separated all the way back to the mains filter and the power cord . Only the highest quality capacitors and shielded internal signal cables are used .The Coph Nia phono preamplifier is built to give its owner many years of quality analog listening pleasure ." http://www.hifi.com.sg/review/zyx_r100.pdfI will send more photos if interested, just PM me.
  9. There isn't one. But I'd be happy to talk you through it if you want to PM me.
  10. Come on over and have a listen ... I had another audio buddy over yesterday and he was pretty impressed!
  11. A typical OB is a large, flat plane that separates the back wave of the driver from the front wave. A folded baffle design is basically an open back cabinet, but it functions similarly to a standard OB (but takes up a lot less room ... although they are still not small). A pic of mine is attached (in MDF test cabinets). I am getting some really good bass response with this design, while retaining the OB "airiness" that is typically the allure of the design. It's been an interesting project...
  12. Never thought I'd do this, but I am knee-deep into a folded OB speaker design that I'm pretty fond of, so I'm thinking of letting my Cornwalls go. They were made in 1982 (I've been told they are a "1 1/2" version) and are in Walnut Lacquer with cane grilles. Components are B-2 crossovers, K-33-E, K-77-M and K-55-V with the soldered lugs (Bob Crites told me these are the most desirable, FWIW). The crossovers were recently updated with the Crites kit. The cabinets are unmolested. They are in terrific condition ... a nick/chip here and there and a little discoloration on the grilles, but overall they present themselves very well and don't need any immediate refurbishing (if any at all). And of course they sound great. I am not willing to ship these, so a buyer in WI/IL (or within driving distance) is preferred. And I don't have a vehicle big enough to transport them, so I can't even meet somewhere halfway (sorry!). I wanted to offer these up here before I list them elsewhere since I know there are several members in the vicinity. If you are interested, shoot me a message and we can talk. I attached the pics I have immediately available, but will take more and better ones tonight. SOLD Tom
  13. I'm on my work computer as well, and no photos. Strange, as I haven't had that issue in the past.
  14. This is a brand new pair of P.AUDIO BM-D450S compression drivers. 8 ohms, 1" screw-on. The specs can be found here: http://www.usspeaker.com/paudio bmd450s-1.htmThese have NEVER been powered up. $100 + shipping for the pair. They are heavy, but I imagine shipping won't exceed $10 or so.
  15. I had this Rondo Blue re-tipped by Andy Kim at Needledoctor in November, and it has no more than 100 hours on it since the re-tip was done. Sounds terrific, but as a spare it's just sitting in the drawer right now. Comes with original packaging, paperwork and accessories. The rebuild used an aluminum cantilever and the nude FG70 stylus to match the original configuration. SOLD. I will cover the PP fees and shipping costs in the CONUS. Tom
  16. I keep watching for it to pop up again on the used market. So far no luck,,,
  17. Ditto. If I didn't just start a new OB speaker build I would probably grab this one. Worst audio thing I ever did was sell my Budgie with the internal SUT. It was to you Schu, wasn't it?
  18. I've seen your table tuba listed for what seems like forever. If I had the right room for it I would have grabbed it a while ago.
  19. All I know for sure is that I definitely did NOT wet my pants ...
  20. Seems like wishful thinking ... http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ele/5957225259.html
  21. Man, I really wanted that Merlin ... I'm jealous, ACM! Kicking myself for not pulling the trigger...
