  1. I know this is off the "klipsch" subject and not even about home audio but if you could help me in finding the answer it would be alot of help. On tuesday i bought and 1991 Lincoln Continental. and it has these jbl pro speakers and i took the cover off to examine them and found that the "bass" speaker was made out of a material that i was not used to. it was more like a plastic than a paper? it was almost like a flattend out peice of plastic. now i know im not much about this stuff but it didn't seem to be the typical material that speakers are made out of..... and ideas as to what this is? if anyone knows please let me know so that my curiosity doesn't kill me thanx alot Rob ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  2. i have to dis agree with you on the point about carver amps being harsh. i use a carver amp and its not harsh at all. but to each his own.... ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  3. I have a pair of KLH 9912 speakers. I know.. but they are in addition to my LaScalas. anywayz... i have noticed that after playing the klh's loud for a while the dust cup on the driver will be luke warm to warm. now is that normal or is something wrong here? ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  4. has anyone herd anything about the carver cube? its an older amp that had no cooling fan and was a very small but powerful cube. i have one and was wondering if anyone had a background on it the actual model it m-400
  5. im not much on dvd players but i bought the pioneer 343 at best buy and i went to the audioreview.com web site and manypeople say they can burn some or all of there dvds to a cdr and then the pioneer will play them they call them svcd and i was wondering if anyone knew how to make them.....just wondering... thanx rob ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  6. no..no..no...no you got it all wrong. what i said was that any other speaker except klipsch was...... sorry for the confusion ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  7. well i guess i get the idea is the wrong thing to say. a better thing to say is i had NO idea! who would spend that much $????? thats crazy!! you could buy a HOUSE! those speakers must sound DAMN good. holy crap. thats outragious!!!!!!!!!
  8. well first off sound dogg are you serious about spending that much money on those subs?!?!?!?! and second. i was wondering y they are so exspencive. 28 thousand bucks is alot for a sub. are they really that good??? for that much you could buy a couple pairs of Khorns. what were people thinking? ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  9. this seems really odd to me...... take a look. what are you guys' thoughts? http://audioreview.com/reviews/Subwoofer/product_69185.shtml ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  10. are you sure that its a 1000 peak? there is a huge jump between 100 and 1000 so how can that be? my scalas are 200 cont. and 750 peak...... i don't know much about them but that sounds alittle high
  11. and i don't understand this uglyness stuff.....the scala is the only speaker that looks "proud" to be a fine audio pleasure. the way it looks like its standing at attention ready to fill the room with increadable sound....that is the scala ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  12. i know its looked down apon but i do use a eq. with most the bass up you make the amp work hard because thats a big driver but i love the response with no sub i feel that there is no other speaker that could keep up with me except the scalas. if you take a 200 wpc amp put it on any other 15 inch woffer and you won't get much. you but 200 wpc on a scala you better hang on to your chair..... i know ive never herd another speaker produce such deep and loud bass and not sound bad..... wish i had a bigger power amp..... 600 watts you say? unless you have the proscalas they can only peak 400.... did you blow it? some times i wish i could see that HUGE woffer pulsing back and forth..... but im satisfied with the sound..wouldn't trade um for nothing
  13. i don't know. im a youth and i push my scalas at least the amp that is. but ive never played them to the point of bad sound. i know that i have never really "pushed" them because of the rugedness and the high power handeling. that is what my point was. how? it must have been difficult. and i do realize that youcan't kick it but maybe if you took it out and threw it on the ground and then tried to play it? i don't know. kinda dumb founded. must have really been beatin on them because it seems unreal. when i think of scalas i think of a peice of 30 feet thick sheet of steal. undistructable. but i guess not
  14. a sub would give you more bass. not nessasarily a better sound. ------------------ ------------------------ LaScala (industrial) Main Radio Shack ssm-1200 mixer Carver 400 Amp Pioneer pd-4700 cd player
  15. i mean a and b sets. two sets of speakers running off one amp. if you have this you could run a sub off one set and the scalas off the other set. i don't know what kind of burden this would be on the amp......might over load it. id look at the cv subs. if you like klipsch go for them. i tested one out a NFM and i didn't really think it had much bass. cv makes a good sub........go to cerwin-vega.com they have some on display....you can get them at best buy i beleve. i don't even use a sub with my scalas. i have the industrial. but i don't use them for ht. there stricktly music. i have a pretty good eq so i can put the bass up a notch and get all i need. but i don't have a pretty good power amp with that packs quite a punch. i use 200 wpc instead of 100 but i don't think ive hit the top yet. tried to....
  16. hey jeff. howd you get your signature to work. i don't think mine is
  17. if you got the money go for it. or buy some more scalas. im not sure the price on the others........ maybe you could do something about a sub? use a tape out? i don't know how well that would work but? who knows. does your amp have a and b speakers?
  18. STICK WITH THE SCALAS. your gonna find that another speaker is a peice of *&^% compared to the scalas.
  19. So Ray, what your saying is that there it is very hard to blow it..... correct? id like to know how some one did it........ without going deaf....
  20. My question is how do you blow a sub on a Scala? Kick it? there is really no way! id like to hear the story......
  21. with the vertical horns doesn't that limit the way you can sit to listen to them? to get the full sound of the horn don't you have to be in there range? if you move one way or another on those you move out of the horns range don't you?
  22. ive had dc for a while and the only way you can get the 5.1 is to have the optical or the 6 rca outputs on the dc box "which it doesn't have" you can't send a 5.1 channel sound through 2 rca. you have to have seperate rca cables for each center rear front and sub
  23. when i looked at them they looked very very small to be scalas. are they a certin kind that were smaller than the original or is it just the picutre?
