  1. I was very tempted to buy those!!!! Very!  But I fell into an auction for a pair of K-horn Decorators that were at $288 dollars.  I put in a bid for $500 (I had the highest bid) and my bid was cancelled this morning - and I have great feedback on Ebay, so that wasn't the issue.  I believe the seller was just feeling things out and withdrew their auction.

  2. Over the past week, I've become somewhat obsessed with the new DJI Phantom 4 Drone.  It has some really nice upgrades from the Phantom 3 Professional.  This would be my first drone.

I currently have $760 available to put towards it so I need about $650 more.  Unfortunately, we are in the process of putting money aside for two projects that take priority.

    1)  Make the trip from Florida to Alabama to pick up my new cabinet for the theater room when wakejunkie finishes.  This will also include a road trip to South Carolina.

    2) Enclose 1/2 of our lanai to make a bedroom for my daughter.  We are $2000 away from having all of the money to do it.

Any new websites I develop or design projects must first go towards those two items.

We are debt free other than our home (thanks Dave Ramsey) so it's not an option to finance.  So today I began thinking about the possibility of selling something:

Option 1:  Sell one of my four RSW15's.

    Pros:

    • It would completely fund the remaining I need for the DJI Phantom 4.
    • I definitely would not be lacking in bass if I sold one of the four subs.

    Cons:

    • Would not be able to have this.  I was VERY sure this was the easy solution....until I looked at this rendering.  Man that would look sweet!

Option 2:  Sell my newly acquired URC MX-890, MRF-350 Base Station and RFX-250

    Pros:

    • I began programming the remote but have not actually used it in my HT yet.  Still using my Harmony One
    • I have not hooked up the MRF-350 and RFX-250 to add RF capabilities and I really don't have a need for RF since everything will be within line of sight with the new cabinet.
    • I still have the Harmony One (which is a great remote) to use for the HT

    Cons:

    • Worth about $150, therefore would not fully fund the DJI Phantom 4.

Option 3:  Be patient, get the cabinet for my front wall of the HT and room for my daughter built and then buy the Phantom 4.

    Pros:

    • Would get to keep the RSW-15

    Cons:

    • Would not have the drone to use when I go pick up the cabinet and make the journey back to Florida.  Thought about some cool shots I could get to document the journey.  I think this is my biggest reason for wanting to sell an RSW-15.  But it may take wakejunkie several more weeks (or months) to finish the project.  He thought for sure he would be finished by the first of April but he still has to sand everything, stain and varnish the entire project.

    Ok.....looking for some advice here.....

Let patience have her perfect work    :)  ^_^

  3.

Not saying that Atmos is going to be UHD BD exclusive - but it seems like they've stopped putting Atmos on new releases...unless they are UHD.

I tried playing The Last Witchhunter 4K UHD bluray movie with DTS X today and I wasn't impressed at all. My Yamaha receiver didn't have a clue how to decode the data and just shoved 4 channels into the side surrounds. It was quite annoying to say the least. Yes I have the latest firmware update for the Yamaha RX-A3050 as well. Their seems to be lots of bugs they will have to sort out for this new technology to make me a believer.. Still on of the best movies I've seen thus far has been on a normal bluray which happened to be the newest Starwars movie which came out last month which I believe was recorded in DTS 7.1 master HD ?

I don't have Atmos or DTS-X. However I find that the proprietary mode (not DSU or Neureal-X) does a great job of placing sounds where they should be.  I'm running 13 speakers as well (two front presence, 4 rear presence, 2 back surrounds and 2 side surrounds - besides my LCR and subs). My question is more toward the HD3 DSP modes not the DTS-X or Atmos decoding.

The Star Wars movie was extremely immersive using the Adventure DSP mode and HD3 processing. Master and Commander, Brave, 9, and the Revenant are also very immersive as well! I'm beginning to wonder if I should even go Atmos at all - seeing that I'm satisfied with HD3.  Some people have stated that the best upmixers are Auro 3D and Yamaha's proprietary HD3 - with DSU being right there.

  4. I've tried it and I'm a total fan! On some forums, people prefer HD3 to DSU. I know that Atmos and DTS-X are the real deal, however I'm very content and satisfied with Yamaha's 3D tech.  You have to tweak it, but it's very tweak-able! I think this will tie me over for quite a while - especially if Atmos is going UHD BD exclusive.

  5. Hey so I will be having heresy iii as my left and right front speakers. Would I be better off getting a used Klipsch Academy or is the Heresy iii as a center channel that much better? I am planning on building a custom tv stand this summer so I will be able to accommodate the size of the Heresy!

A third Heresy III - nothing better than that!!!!!

  6.

I have Dave Brubeck's "best of" CD...and yes I can pick up each instrument exactly were they are located.  Everything is not just in the middle.

    I want to hear that.

I bought it from Barnes and Noble - I've gotten several recordings from them that I couldn't find anywhere else!!!

  7. Loud, his remote controls everything behind the closet with an IR repeater so no need to walk back there to pause the movie or change setting on the AVR.

Very, very, very clean - however - He still needs to enter that room to put his blu-rays into the Panasonic....right? I was expecting to see some type of server back there.

  8. is it just the pic or did he really paint the veneer?  I emailed him for a pic of the sticker so we can see what they are.

Did you get your sticker?  I've got my pic ;)

  9. They were originally KH-BR (I believe that's Birch Raw). If he used Minwax - they wont strip easily at all.  Your looking at a total refinishing. Well, at least they're not walnut or some other nice hard wood!!!
