  1. Hi tmassey, it's easy enough to miss, it's called "Re". I find by Googling Re universal remote. Shake
  2. Tmassey, I'm counting on the market being flooded. I'm gonna let mine go for whatever will get it out of my house quick. Shake
  3. Edit: Please note these revisions may be the result of my inability to absorb the instructions and well offered support. I just don't know but I couldn't get it to work on at least two components in my theater and to I've found over time this control has not worked as well as I initially thought. If and when I'm able to delve into the issues again I'll post the results. My apologies. Please let us know if you have any findings that would clear this up. Original post follows: Hi, Here's a great little inexpensive way to run everything in each room of your house. It's sixty bucks (the ap is free) and works well once you get the hang of it. It works like a charm for me. It has a few quirks which are offset by excellent Tech Services. I found it awkward that Techs are set up to work through email however they will call you once you work out a time with them. Really though, all the info you need is included with the device that plugs into your Pad and on the website. I think a lot of members will be able to get it up and running without making any phone calls. One issue is that the remotes (they are all different and mostly correspond to the actual remote that comes with the component...you switch from one to the other as needed with the touch of a button...very cool) don't fit exactly on the display and you have to move it up and down to access all the buttons. You can also customize individual remotes as needed. It is a little time consuming and can be confusing (I gave up on it more than once) but I really look forward to using it now that the leaning curve kicked in and I had a conversation with Barry at their Tech Services. One other issues is that you can't charge while operating it so make sure you have plenty of power in your battery before sitting down to enjoy your system. Its easy to spend a lot of money on your remote and if you love your iPad this might be your ticket. Shake
  4. Hi All, What a great way to deal with a Blu-ray collection. It plays all the way up to DTS-Master Audio and the sound and picture are very good, even excellent. I've been waiting patiently for the price to come down as they were about $2000.00 originally and I've even seen them for three. I found a beautiful one on Ebay for about half the MSRP. The Gracenote feature is especially pleasant even though mine only picks up about 50 to 65% of the discs and the others remain nameless. This is where one of the major flaws of the maching glares ominously. There is no input for a keyboard and you have to use a phone-like keying system which is time consuming and real drag. So I use a numerical list of all the discs which makes it very easy to find each one. No more opening, closing, storing, touching, and storing cases and discs. Its a real winner as you will never have to get out of your seat again. Shake
  5. Skule, As you know I finally went 7.1 with an important factor being your praises of the of the extra speakers with the advent of more blu-rays to make such a system show its stuff. Thanks again for posting and explaining your reasoning. I'm very pleased with the results as my theater has taken another step towards realism. Shake
  6. Hello All, I agree. Mine is running great. As you noticed kde, it take a little time to get the hang of it and I'm not entirely satisfied with the Tech Services at Emo but its running great now and I finally know the ropes so to say. It certainly is worth the money and I just can't wait for the new model for which I have my 40% off discount and I still get to sell the UMC-!. I'll get the new X model for cheap...maybe $650.00 or less net for a what promises to be a really fine unit. Thanks, Shake
  7. Hi, If you're a fan of this sort of thing than its a must have. The costuming and staging produce color that can only be outdone by animation. The audio is very good as are the individual performances and orchestra. I'm not averse to musicals but not a huge fan and I've seen this a number of times as well as the movie version which is not the visual delight that the RAH version is. I'm hooked. Enjoy! Nic
  8. Everyone was so helpful and patient with me on this I really appreciate it. Now that I've got my amps and speakers set maybe I thought I would give a quick update on what I've ended up with. I found some Palladium P-37s for a great price at Agon. I got a good discount on the center channel new in a PA store. Then a new pair of P38s showed up on Agon another great price including shipping. Lastly I got another great deal on P27s surrounds and thats just the beginning. Early in this process I bought five Emo XPA-1s and then two UPA-1. That means that the big amps have 1000w each ready @ 4 ohms and the two smaller have 350 each. So that ended my quest for power and they sound great. Very life like. I checked with Klipsch Tech Services before making the purchase and they said fine. So did Emo. I've had them pretty wide open and never heard a hint of distortion anywhere except in the foundation of my home. I'm so pleased with an amazingly inexpensive solution to my power question. Thanks, Nic
  9. ref, I like that too. l'm for almost anything dark for a theater to set the mood and keeps the light down. Nic//Shake
  10. Hi r, Since everything is so neutral you can use almost anything you want. Nic
  11. Cec, That's what I was hoping you'd say...sort of : ) Nic
  12. Hello All, Can two 12" subs cause structual damage in the home? I do like it loud, I do like to feel it, and sometimes things fall off the first or second floor walls and shelves during my basement showtimes. Most of the people I've talked to who know anything about this say no...not even close. We joke about it in the forums but are there knowlegable members who can comment on this?. Thanks, Nic
  13. Skule, Thanks for your response. I'm so glad I went with the P-27S as my system took a huge leap forward. The realism and opening up of the soundstage was dramatic. Good avice and once again, its such a delight to own Palladiums. Thanks, Nic
  14. Klipsch Tech says go with the surround speakers rather than the P-17. I've decided to go with the 7.1 system mostly because I want to get the most out of my nearly new Sony CX7000ES. If there is anyone who has good knowledge of this player I'd appreciate it if you'd PM me. Thanks, Nic
  15. Obviously, I'm thinking of 7.4 (yes the four...sounds awesome) my concern is that the P27S is going to give me too much information that is not directed in an understandible way, too dispersed. I think the safe thing is to use P17 speakers. its just that the 27s are currently available. Oh well, I'll wait a while for a reply or two and then I'm going to give the 27s a shot. I can always sell them. Its it litlle kooky because the 5 main speaker system sounds great...really great. Thanks, Shake
  16. We all saw the nice review on the P17 and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the P27 and could pass that along. Thanks, Shake
  17. Dys, Very artistic, professional looking, and beautiful. Nic
  18. Nice Vince, Pride and Joy. I understand that. Very cool. Nic
  19. All Who Might Know, I have an Ipad based UR and wondering if anyone has had luck with this or any other combo of subs and remotes. Thanks, Nic
  20. G, Also, do you have a keyboard you could bring? N
  21. Gary, I really like the use of curtains and its going to be a bit of a difficult accessory for my Wife to appreciate. My Brother is an expert with a sewing machine so I think it may happen as I will be able to have Jo-Ann's consent at some point. I'm not sure you know that you're walking into a project when you come to visit. I had no idea you had these kind of skills and what I would ask of you is design ideas. Nicky
  22. Thanks a whole heck of a lot Ym. I'm sure you know you would be most welcome to visit and at this point its just a matter of who get to whose state first. My Wife lived in NYC for over twenty years so she knows it like the back of her hand and we would enjoy being your resource for the ins and outs of the Big Apple. Also a big resounding yes to all of your comments especially those very complimentary ones. I am happy to hear such from someone whose opinion is fair and balenced. Best, Nic
  23. Tigerman, I have no brand loyalty when it comes to subs except I'm completely NUTS about Velodyne so I put the wood between my teeth went for it...DD Eighteen Plus. There's a picture of me with it in Powered Subwoofers. Nic
