  1. I have a dilemma. I moved all the components into the closet, I also bought 25 ft power cables for the sub and the tv since they are the only powered sources that will be in the actual HT room. Can I run those two power cables with the mass of speaker cables, the coax for satellite and the one HDMI cable from the tv? I drilled a 1 3/4" hole in the floor in the closet to get all the cable up to the rack system...I really don't want to drill any more holes. How bad is interference with household wires? I am absolutely forced to run the rear surrounds parallel with some romex for the outlets and single light in the HT room. Will I have any problems if I use a heavily insulated speaker wire?
  2. I think the KLF C7 is one of the best center channels I have ever heard...even more so with upgraded crossovers. That being said...I would work a HT around the KLF series. I am finding through trial and error and sampling that HT and 2 ch stereo are two very different animals.
  3. I suppose I will concentrate on the forte II placement then. I'll post a picture when I get home to give a better example.
  4. I just thought would chime in and say that I'm picking up a pair of forte II's very soon. Perhaps tomorrow!
  5. I am about to make a purchase on some Forte II's. I will have them side by side with the KLF 20's for HT. Which of the two should be on the outside/inside? I'm thinking I would want the KLF spaced further out and on the outsides of the Forte II's, but I'm not sure.
  6. Thanks. Maybe i'll post something. I've been browing all 3 of which you mentioned and haven't seen anything good yet.
  7. Cool man. I would like to see more if it isn't too big of a hassle. I'm building my tv and center speaker stand, so it isn't out of the question to build the rack...however I like to sleek look since sleek components are going on it. I just can't building something sleek haha. What racks do people use?
  8. http://www.totallyfurniture.com/rta-avm-005b.html it's between that and this sanus : http://www.amazon.com/Sanus-NFA245-5-shelf-audio-component/dp/B001BMZPTM I need a 5 shelf rack and I can't find anything used.
  9. The one I have now is down firing, however...the thing I'm building isn't going enclose the sub, it's just going to be an open area underneath for it...it's almost going to be a table with a shelf for the center channel.
  10. Very cool, but that just isn't going to happen anytime soon. Also, I have KLF 20's which are already pretty tall when you sit on the small couch in the small room where everything is. I will be looking into it more though, perhaps as a future endeavor. Thanks for the links
  11. Ok, my mistake, I didn't mean that exact sub. I just meant something similar in power, but square in shape...so that it can be placed in the middle. The reason am going to put it in the center is because I only have enough room on the wall for my HT speakers and 2 channel stereo speakers...no space left for the sub except under the television.
  12. This is a little late on my part since I already have the plans underway and things already measured and bought, but just for the hell of it...will it affect my tv at all if the sub is underneath it? I mean to say: I am building a console. The tv will be on top, there will be a shelf for the KLF C7 center channel right underneath the tv (at about ear level or as close as I can get it with keeping the television screen in the sweet spot. I also was going to have just an open space underneath the center channel for the subwoofer since I am putting all my seperates on a rack system in the closet. If I upgrade to an RT 12D from my RW-10...will I have to worry about on screen explosions and other effects shaking or rattling my tv since it is relatively close to it? I tend to think not since my current sub is 3-4 feet away and doesn't rattle anything in the room even when it's at it's limit, but I just wanted to be reassured that it's ok to put the sub there.
  13. I need help with finding a power cable for both my subwoofer and television. I am running all my HT stuff on a rack in a closet, and I would like to keep the power source in there as well. Where can I find power cords that will reach (15-20ft). I obviously don't want to run extension cords in the ceiling in the basement where all the cables are going to be run.
  14. I have decided to build my own console. I would like to place the subwoofer directly under the television, and also havea modified KLF 30 underneath the tv above the sub. What is a good wood to work with and has anyone else built there own? I don't have the skills of a woodworker, but I am handy. I'm open to any suggestions on placement as well. It is best to place the center channel at listener level right?
  15. Regardless of room size...KLF 20's (sub IS needed) Forte II's (no sub needed)...for that matter...KG4's (NO sub needed) Something about the rear passive sub really makes the ported KLF series sound weak compared. Granted, if you listen at EXTREME levels...the KLF series will tighten up and the bass will punch you in the face...however, the deal for me is that I can't listen to shit that loud. haha. When you crank on the forte II's or similar...they sound AWSOME. I think klipsch was going for something with the KLF series, but they missed it. Once again though, the KLF is awsome for HT and I would use it over most other klipsch stuff for movies.
  16. I change my mind. I am keeping the KLF series for HT. Forte II's all the way for good rock and/or heavy music. The bass and clarity of the forte II is deeper, thicker and clearer. While the KLF 20 is an amazing speaker...it is better suited for HT.
  17. Hmm. I have the crossover set to 120hz LFE+Main. Any other setting and the music looses all it's gut. If I were to set up a 2 channel stereo in another room. Will I be satisfied with Forte II's without a sub? I ask because I feel I would be very dissapointed with the KLF 20's if I didn't have a sub (as far as 2 channel goes).
  18. How would you compare the KLF's to the Forte IIs?
  19. I was messing around with the setting on my receiver, and noticed that I loose a LOT of the slam that I thought I was getting directly from the KLF's when I switch from LFE+Mains to LFE solo. Perhaps the KLF 20's do not kick as hard as I thought? If I were to compare the Forte II's to the KLF 20's without a sub...will the forte II's have more bass and power since the passive sub is so large, as opposed to the small ports in the back of the KLF's?
  20. Well, it's a 61 inch tv, so the speaker will be about the same length, maybe a bit shorter. The mains are on either side of the tv, maybe about 10 feet away from eachother.
  21. A good amp and a good pair of speakers will always be the best thing for metal. The sub muddles the sound, no matter how good the sub is. I'm speaking of course about that fast pounding double bass stuff. The KLFs really kick when I crank em up. I would still suggest KLF 20's or 30's for metal, although I am looking for a pair of forte II's for a 2 channel set-up just for the hell of it. [] Coalesce were such a cool band. I remember seeing them and the lead singer would put the mic against his throat and scream, haha, it sounded effin brutal.
  22. Before I actually get motivated to do something, I wanted to know what people thought about the difference between the KLF C7 center channel, and the converted KLF 30 center channel. I think I might go nutty put my KLF 20's in the back as surrounds and add KLF 30's to be used as mains. However...before I go and do all that...I think I want to build a KLF 30 into a center channel. I just don't know if it is worth all the effort. If I become convinced to do it, I'll be looking for someone to go halfs on a pair of KLF 30s and also to sell my KLF C7 with upgraded Crites crossover network.
  23. I have KLF-20's, but close enough to the 30's. I have to agree. I seriously feel I could blow a window out with the amount of punch the bass drum packs within these towers. The louder you play it...they better they sound. I am thinking about finding a pair of KLF-30s, and moving the KLF-20's to use as rear surrounds. I can't even imagine how good they will sound with a Crites crossover upgrade. I did the upgrade in the KLF C7 and it is insane how much better it sounds.
  24. I see a lot of suggestions for the Cornwalls, but do they win in a battle vs. Forte IIs?
