I live in Dubai and all houses are made of concrete.
For this new home theater, I'll be investing in acoustical treatments and carpeting the floor. Hopefully that will help with the room issues.
On another note, I am also considering the following audio setup from Seaton Sound.
Mains: 2 x Seaton Sound Catalyst 8C with matching stands
Center: 1 x Seaton Sound Catalyst 8C
Side surrounds: 2 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC amp
Back surrounds: 2 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC amp
Ceiling speakers: 4 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC amp
Subwoofers: 2 x Seaton Sound SubMersive HPi+ + 2 x Seaton Sound SubMersive HP-Slave
One advantage of the Seaton Sound Spark speaker is that there is a mounting bracket available to mount it to walls and ceilings. Will makes things a lot simpler for me. Plus, Seaton Sound speakers sound awesome based on everything I've read and heard.
I love Klipsch but Mark makes some damn fine speakers and his subs are insane. I only have his amplifiers for my subs but they have been rock stable and awesome. I can't say enough good things about the things he builds.

Just read a review on "The Sixes", he gets it mostly right, I own a pair and I think the imaging is fantastic, I agree about the phono stage, it's lifeless but digital input or from another good source and these things will blow you away. Overall a pretty good article but he doesn't check for spelling, oh well.

Congratulations! Thank goodness it worked itself out before anyone tried to convince you to upgrade the crossovers!
Even if they had them I would have returned them since they're brand new.
-
My worry was more like the passive side might have been wired backwards at the drivers but all seems fine now, it was very strange though.
-
I had the speakers running all day, don't know how but now they sound just fine, incredible bass response, detailed mids and highs.... in hog heaven.

Just bought a brand new pair of "The Sixes" and off axis they sound better than in the sweet spot which hints at them being out of phase, something I can spot easily. The cables are keyed so is it possible somebody wired them internally out of phase?
-
I skipped on them and haven't seen anything come up since. In the mean time I bought a new set of "The Sixes" and have them running downstairs breaking them in. They sound out of phase which I'm starting a new thread on in the Personal Music Systems thread.

The ad is as follows below, I'm very interested but worried about the work he had performed on them to make them more like the Heresy I's which as I am told are a bit brighter. Thoughts on the price at $525.00. Are the II's warmer even with the modification performed?

I think I have an idea now how long the cable is... thanks guys, I just ordered them.

I want to order them but I can't find out how long the speaker cable is that connects the two together. I called Klipsch this afternoon, but gave up after being on hold for a long time. I called Cructhfield and they have no idea, no spec page describing how long the cable is.
Anybody have a set that can answer?

Skule,
Actually two subs will smooth out the response, when set properly they don't over-power the system they compliment it. This I can promise since I have two large subs in my system.
124db is nothing to sneaze at!

Skule,
Fellow Viking! I hail from Oslo Norway originally and my mother was born in Voss. We miss it very much but had a blast going there for the 1994 Olympics. []
VERY nice system you have put together! I also love Klipsch and Marantz, my system is a bit tamer than yours but I do have dual AV123 MFW-15's in the system (plus they still work even!, long story). Have fun!
I need to update the picture, we have the new Samsung UN55C8000XF LED LCD, I moved the Plasma in this picture to the basement.
-
I like it !!! Wow that was a tight squeezeUpdate to my system pic.. Stuffed my huge RC64 into the top shelf, the subs are MFW-15's from the now defunct AV123.
Yeah that's for sure, the fit is almost as if they were made for each other. I'm very happy there are no rear firing ports or this would not have worked out so well. My wife did not like the size of the RC64 but having it inside the shelf and she can hardly tell it's there so it was a big win for me.

Is that an electric fake fire place?
Yep, I wish we had a real fireplace but what can ya do, buy a fake one!
I am worried about the heat period directly under my system, I have been looking at these lately but worried.
let us know if it heats up the gear.
Nick
The heat it puts out gets blown forward and can't affect the gear, after running the heater for 8 hours last night nothing above the unit was even warm to the touch. So it has worked out well, having the big shelf helps as well.
-
In this case, fake is better... Wouldn't want all that heat and ash dust that close!
If I had the real deal my gear wouldn't be anywhere near it. My wife likes it a lot and it warms up the room. We replaced the TV with a new Samsung C5500 that has an incredible picture. So, I have to update my picture again...

I know what you mean Mark, it's my favorite! Don't tell my other kids...er...I mean speakers!
It's an imposing, beast of a center. I love when my friends see it for the first time, it's usually something like: "Good lord, that's a monster!"
I just grin ear to ear like a proud papa! If you haven't seen one in person it's hard to comprehend just how big it is.
I hear ya, even though my RC-64 is hidden people still see it. It used to stick out big time!

Yes, I think you will be very pleased with what the XPA-3 will do for your system. Even at low volumes imaging and clarity will improve and the improvement is noticeable at all volumes.
For me the XPA-3 completely improved my system, not only were the front 3 speakers powered by the XPA-3 improved but my surrounds powered by my receiver also were also nicely improved when the receiver no longer needed to power the front 3 giving all its power to the surrounds.
There was an all around improvement, the best improvement of all came in two channel music.
I have the RF-82's crossed over at 60hz and the MFW's take it from there. I wrote their sales staff to see when it might be going on sale again, if soon I'll be buying it for sure!
-
The Emotiva XPA-3 is still impressing me more and more, it's been just over a week now and the sound quality performance changes this amp has made to my system is very pleasing.
Imaging, separation, detail and bass have improved dramatically.
Rich_Guy,
I currently own a Marantz SR5003, RF-82's and RC-64 for the front three, I am seriously considering the XPA-3 to take over the front channels and leave the AVR to handle the rest. Considering the how little power is needed to drive these bad boys do you think the XPA-3 would provide that much more for my system?

I don't mean to nit pick,
no,no, very good nit picking indeed, still very much playing around with them, its in the corner at the moment, next move is put flat against the red wall and floorstanders in each corner toed in,
question klipschhead281, because they are right next to the screen at the moment would it still be better to toe in than out, or straight???
Depends on where you're sitting but straight would sound better than toeing them out. Here is an article on speaker placement. Scroll down to get to the toe in section but the whole article is worth reading.

well its a work in progress, not much compared to most of you guys but i love it
I don't mean to nit pick, your system is very nice but are the mains toed out or am I seeing things? That has to sound a little different.

I kept trying to call Klipsch today to discuss the Forte III's and all I heard was "we are in a department meeting, please call back later".... going out of town tonight for 4 days so I guess my purchase has to wait until Monday.
