  1. I was thinking of getting rid of 2 of mines because i want to put the money towards a Sunfire Junior sub. I wish that klipsch would bring it back because having an idol port in the back of their new 5.1 unltra system is pretty retarded. But then again, it was ginues because its a sub out...so you can connect any sub with an rca input to it. Well, i have 3 sws and still thinking about getting rid of 2 of those bad boys. Let me see how my cash flow is before i jump towards a new speaker.
  2. i have 2 extra pods because i have 3 subs....so since it seems 1 is fried, i still have 2 left over. I never hooked them all up. I just have one connected right now, and always have.
  3. I think they may be trying to improve the sws....maybe by giving it a lower freq. response to match the 5.1s or Ultras. Maybe a better functioning crossover (adjustable other than the presets).
  4. Well, i would say that my first SWS control is somewhat nuked, which leaves me with 2 brand new ones at my disposal. The reason i think they are damaged is because when i turn the knob, the bass levels jump up and down, causing my subs to just sound nasty. And it takes a lot of twisting to get the levels to play normally. So that first one is damaged and working on the second, which is perfect. But i have this strange feeling that it will mess up like the other one. Now my question is if there is a way to open this control pod and possible clean it. It seems like the contacts may have formed some type of corrution on it because its kinda like what happened to the control pods on the Klipsch 4.1 system before the power button. So, can someone tell me how to open this thing, if its at all possible. I know klipsch may not agree with this but im not happy at the fact that this thing became faulty in a matter of days. I jsut lived with it, but i made several complaints.
  5. Hmm, after checking the freq range on both the 5.1s and the Ultras, they both go down to 25hz. I dont think i will be getting the new ones unless Klipsch release a more powerful 6.1 system...now that is an improvement and a reason to buy in my book. But im still for another sub, either sws or something that reaches low.
  6. Well, that im getting regardless because i plan on fixing up my home theater set in the living room. But its a little too pricey for my comp....i was thinking something more low end but can reach lows because thats all i need. I have the punch 40+hz with the sws, enough to put a hole in a 5 ft thick piece of rhino skin, but i want the lows that just rattle the ground without being heard.
  7. I have 3 at the momemnt, but they still dont reach the lows that i want. They are awesome for impact bass like music or a punch in the matrix, but to rattle the floor when the treebeard in LOTR walks is unheard...or should i say not felt. I was thinking about this all day at school, i think im just going to buy another sub that reachs low...really low and connect it to the sws.
  8. Hmm, thats something i havent looked into yet. I didnt know the new klipsch could go that low. I have the 5.1 model, not the ultras and i thought i was satisfied. I will have to give the new ones a look-see. Dammit, another $400 is going to fall out of my pocket. I hate it when that happens.
  9. But movies do, which i noticed when comparing it to my brothers system. There are parts where you dont hear anything, yet the ground shakes. So i know the SWS are good, but not good enough to hit the extremely low lows.
  10. Does that mean that you leave switch in the off position and the trigger will power on the amp? I would think this would damage the unit if its a constant voltage running...but then again, i was the guy who blew up all his circuits in class trying to figure out when end or pin is VCC/VDC and which is GND. Luckily, this doesnt happen anymore because im extremely careful with stuff that i purchase. Just curious, do anyone own the Sunfire receiver or amp? I am in love with carvers sound and power and hope that it is migrated into the sunfire name. I shouldnt even be saying that in a klipsch forum. Sorry, but hey, i do love the klipsch speakers and those Klipschorns are pure bliss for the ear.
  11. Cool thanks. I always thought that amps had their own power switch. Well, now i know what to connect to these things. Thanks again.
  12. I have a question about these ports on a receiver i'm looking to buy. I have these plugs on my old (but awesome) carver amplifer/receiver unit. And i have some understanding in electronics with triggers and whatnot. But this still puzzles me. Here is a Sunfire Ultimate Receiver. I circled the 2 things that i wasnt sure about. I know about triggers, but how would this benfit me audio-wise? And then there is that other port in the bottom left. What the hell is that? Sorry about the image size, just wanted it to be clear so i can get a good answer...plus, its that size on their site.
  13. They ran out or something? I just went to check the price of the sub because i wanted to add another to the system for a balance and was shunned to the undesirable word 'Unavailable'. What happened? Are they making improvements?
  14. Maybe you dont have the volume loud enough on your PC. It suppose to kick in at the same time as the first...if not, just a small delay. Try picking up the main volume on the PC in volume control.
  15. here you go, had to move mines around, but i hope you see what you are looking for. Sorry about the size.
  16. I guess you are asking me. They are triple stacked, but im gonna make them a pyramid maybe tomorrow if i have time.
  17. Today, i decided to disturb the neighbors with my crater making sound. After about 2 hours of loud music off all kinds, my sub turned off!! Yes, my SWS cut off!! Wierd thing is that the other 2 on top were playing, not the primary one, the one that has the control pod connected to it. After some investigations and praying that i didnt blow out the speaker or fuse, i found that the power cable beind my primary SWS came lose. This has never happened to me because and im one to make sure that a plug is in properly and fastened. I guess the power of the subs just vibrated them lose. I checked the other power cords and they were somewhat lose too. So i put some muscle into it and forced them in as much as they could go. Now back to putting holes in the wall.
  18. I hope the sale stays because i dont think the subs are worth more than $150.
  19. I have mines at 180degrees and 90hz. I do notice the difference from 60 to 90, the subs get loud and handle more bass. But then again, its more noticable to me probably because the ammount of subs i have.
  20. Yeah, first balance the highest possible listening level with your windows volume at max. Once you have the right balance between the 5.1 and sws, use the main volume control to regulate the volume on both. This with raise and lower the volume of both units at the same time. This also keeps you from messing with the control pod and 5.1 control pod a lot.
  21. I know, i was considering doing that....in fact, im gonna try it later....but for now, ive been disturbing the neighbors with my wall shattering sound. Also, ive been looking to get some HQ cables for the sub, but havent got around to doing it. Any one knows where i can get like 2-3ft subwoofer cable? I dont like Crutchfield or bestbuy that much, their prices are somewhat high.
  22. I was thinking about springing for some monster cables for the links between my SWSs. But at about $25 a pop, i have to think about it because i would need 2 of them. I may buy them anyway, but i wanted to know if anyone has replaced the thin gauge cable that is supplied with the SWS subs with some heavy gauge monster cables? Any slight difference in tones?
  23. well, im sure you guys know im happy with my set. I just purchased a third sub a week ago and lovin it. I have to admit, the price really got me to buy another, but i found something that is a little disturbing for my positioning. When i have them stacked 3 high, i notice a lot of sound pressure and sitting level. So if you guys plan on doing this, dont stack them that high....or get 4 so the wall of thunder looks equal. I think i might get another in a week or 2....not sure if i need all that power....but new years is coming and i plan to make some neighbors move out. Oh and about the logo being upside down and right side up (i read that somewhere in one of these topics), if its at the half way mark, that is just way too loud....i think the units peak at 3 point on the dial (9 o'clock position)....even that is extremely loud. And with the more subs you get, the less you have to turn the knob.
  24. But i did find something out recently. Turn off your subs and unplug the control wheel. Leave it out over night and when you plug it in the next day, it works fine until what it seems; build up that nasty static again.
