  1. I can roll with that, i never used one before so i youtubed it and a guy said dont use the plastic ones. My monoprice tv mount (that i cant use now) came with plastic anchors and if those are meant to hold a tv then i would suspect they can hold a speaker or am i wrong? Also one video showed a lady using a drill for the anchor, if a drill is putting the anchor in then where does the screw go for the speaker, please excuse my less than handyman knowledge of hanging.
  2. I am moved into my new apt and i have my RS52s sitting on the floor on the side of my couch. Why the floor you ask, well I attempted to drill through 3 studs only to go through drywall each time. I have no idea what this complex was thinking or my studfinder but i'm done putting in holes especially since i dont have the apt paint. SO now my RC62 is sitting behind peeking between tv and its stand. My RS are on floor and i'm now looking for some type of stand. My couch sits about 3ft with the arms. Even on the floor i can hear the speakers so i'm thinking i dont necessarily have to go 4-5ft. Ok, my question, does anyone know if its a bad idea placing speakers on glass stands like the Klingsbo from Ikea? Its not that tall but i will place it facing tv on sides of couch but a little behind. Any ideas?
  3. I used PS3 and HTPC connected to receiver and never got a HD codec signal. From my understanding its DD with HD picture just like cable.
  4. I have a Rotel in my sig, when i press the power button i hear a loud pop. so i keep mine on all the time. I called rotel and they told me that it sucks a little juice when no signal is sent to it but i have no way to verify that, any ideas anyone?
  5. ahh, you may be able to pull off placing on side about a ft in front of couch. Yeah my wife wouldnt let me put tv in front of that window, plus it gave me an issue trying to place the center speaker.
  6. I'm in your same boat and went with the RS52 but agree i could have gone with the 42. I also have the couch near the rear wall and only one side wall. I attempted to setup in a way to have two side walls but the wife was not having it (tv in front of window). So per the klipsch alternate instructions im pushing couch 1ft from wall and placing speakers 2 ft above and behind couch on back wall. I was planning on adding these mounts but not sure if they add any value opposed to a screw/bolt, anyone have any suggestions?
  7. I just got a pair of 52s mainly because i got a great deal $224 each. Plus they will grow with you. I was asking this same question a few weeks back anf the consensus was that you cant wrong with either but buy the best you can afford. You may also want to keep in mind you could upgrade your AVR or buy an Emotiva amp if you want more power. I got an amp off craigs to power my front stage and it made my rears sound a lot better. But I cant say much about the 52s becuase i'm in the process of moving and only connected them to ensure they work. Also keep in mind both sets are very effiecient (sensitivity above 90) so you dont need a ton of power for them.
  8. monoprice has some as well that can hold up to 33lbs. I just dont want to drill into my new speakers though. 4ft doesnt seem to tall to you? Did you build the 4ft, I havent seen a 4ft stand online before.
  9. I just opened mine...these are HUGE, they even have handles!! I dont think I'll be mounting these any time soon. Maybe when i get a house. They do look good though. I need to get started on my stands now.
  10. One screw with drywall anchor is sufficient. Not a lot of good options if you can't fish through the wall. Maybe flat wire and paint it the color of your walls. Yes, they are triangular in shape. If you build stands, just let them sit on the flat surface. They aren't going anywhere. Regarding building stands, I read the manual on the 52s and it suggested mounting 5ft high. Will i be missing alot by placing on stands on side in back of couch and pointing them towards center of room? Pointing towards sitting position would send one side of sound to the back wall. I plan on attempting a 3' stand like this, i think making this would be easier than mounting on wall and trying to conceal wires.
  11. yep, just noticed the weight limit. i also noticed its about half inch short to fit my rc62.
  12. I'm in the same boat. I was thinking of taking a shot at building link2. How do they get the legs to stand? Also would i need a back plate on this to make it secure for a 90lb tv?
  13. So i ordered the 52s. Now I ran some measurements and it seems my couch is too long to fit in order to mount the speakers on side walls. Now i'm left with the task of trying to build some stands or just mount directly on wall 3 ft above and 1 ft behind couch. Does anyone have suggestions on either? Mounting: How can i hide wires since i cant fish through wall Stands: Are speakers a triangle? Should i build something and let the speaker sit inside or rest on a plate/wood piece? I never built anything before so advice is welcome.
  14. Wow i'm seriously considering the Emotiva Ultra 10 Sub now its $269! Your post makes a lot of sense and i'm in the same boat. I cant afford an expensive sub and right now i'm rocking an 8in Emerson bought in 2001. If that sounds decent to me then everything else should sound AWESOME.
  15. I'm seriously thinking now that my side wall is not an option. In order to do that i would have to place the tv in front of a window. Which brings me to this next tidbit. In picture 7 you have a stand over your rc62. Where can i buy that? also how big is that tv you got on there, size and weight? Just read your sig, thats a 50in sammy. Whats the weight on it? Does that stand hold up well for the tv?
  16. [:|] WOW, dude that is a sweet room! Ok so i need to mount on side walls above seating. Are they actually in the middle of the room? Or are you using the front row as main seating? I only have a couch, and i may not have one side wall if the wife has her way. What do you recommend for this, tall stands? If stands, the only ones i found were like 2 ft high, that is not sufficient.
  17. Ok i know this sub is not the greatest but i got a counter offer of $368. I'm thinking i should jump on this. At this price i'm thinking the SVS would be correct in saying its twice as good cause it would be twice the price...sort of.
  18. I was thinking that as well but are you suggesting placing them in corners, or rather pointing at the corners of a couch? I think i need a picture...cause i'm sure i'll have to mount these on wall. Also for these should they be placed higher than ear height? I been seeing pictures of people mounting these close to the ceiling.
  19. Going with the RS52s, got a new counter offer from 6ave for $228 each!! Thanks guys, if you're using 6ave, get your bids in they are taking long to respond due to demand.
  20. Guys i just got an offer to buy these, 42 @ $179 each and 52 @ $279 each. Do ya'll think this is good? Also I was originally looking for the 42s but thought the 52s would be a better fit. Is there really much of a difference in the two? Current room open 13x14 possible upgrade to 20x20 in next 2-3yrs.
  21. I think you're right, i just read a few reviews and it seems this isnt the sub to have. I do a lot of movies, so I also been trying to decide if i should buy new surrounds as opposed to a sub for now since the rf62s produce a little bass added to my crappy sub already, plus i'm still in an apt.
  22. The sale is back on!! Should i put a bid in for one of these or just save for SVS?
  23. yeah i'd like to see this.
  24. I'll be moving in the next few months and I need some advice about mounting my RC62. Right now my plasma is mounted and the speaker is on tv stand under tv but i dont want to mount plasma at new place. 50in plasma = 92 lbs, i have a 2 section ikea stand and i think the 90lbs is the weight limit because it has a slight sag in the middle from a previous plasma i had before. I dont think it can hold the weight of both tv and speaker, also can the speaker withstand the weight of the tv? I havent found any stores selling speaker mounts that can hold the 32lb rc62, most places sell stands but i cant use a stand because my tv stand has doors on it that conceal the other electronic components. Advice and recommendations please.
  25. I guess saving $100 is not that big a deal especially when they charge $85 to ship. Thanks guys.
