Hello all, I have a pair of Klipsch Oiled Oak Quartets, that are completely factory original, consecutive serial numbers and in beautiful condition. Would there be any interested buyers here? These are amazing speakers and sound wonderful. I purchased these from the original owner, a studio technician, in Seattle, WA and have since moved them to Southern California. I currently have them connected to my 235 watt Crown amplifier and pre-amped with my Sony TV. I am selling these because I was fortunate to find a pair of original Chorus speakers,.oiled oak also, but somewhat less than perfect cabinet exteriors and slightly abused, with nicks and scratches. The interiors were perfect and clean and had never been opened. I prefer the chorus speakers with the 18" bass speakers in a two way stereo configuration. I was planning to use the Quartets as rear surrounds, but room constraints and an "irritated better half" prevented this from ever becoming a reality. What would you value these Quartets at considering all the information I have provided? Thank you

An ad reads one mid range horn and one tweeter horn, in one speaker, do not work. I am trying to get a estimate or cost to repair/ replace components, if I do the work, vs paying someone else. The ad sale price is $100 for the pair. Is it still possible to get working parts for the older Klipsch series.

Yes, thank you for pointing this out. I did mean to refer to the RC-3 center channel speaker size... and I'll leave speaker design to those of you who understand function, design and resonance and enclosure properties, frequencies and everything else that makes speakers what they are... and function together properly... .... I was just wondering what one might be able to do to get more midrange presence... and volume, then again that is what graphic equalizers are for ...

Anyone got any opinions on adding a pair of RF3 - 6" copper cone speakers to the already magnificent original Klipsch Choruses? Just wonderin" .... My thinking, in terms of sound presentation, adding more midrange, guitar sound quality, for a front main stereo pair.... How would you / could you adapt the crossover network, or would a complete crossover redesign be required? Modify to a four way crossover ? .... or just move the crossover out of the RF-3 cabinet into the Chorus cabinet, & wire it in, in series? The chorus 45Hz-20kHz(+-)3dB plus the 62Hz-20kHz(+-)3dB of the RF-3 ... The power handling properties of the cross overs come into question here... In addition to the midrange horn, position two 6" cone speakers in each Chorus cabinet.... Layout may be a little tricky.... And ... suppose you replaced the original Chorus tweeter horn with the larger RF-3 tweeter & horn... These Chorus cabinets are big... wouldn't they benefit from a bigger horn? An original 90(o)x40(o) Exponential Horn versus a 6" square 90(o) x 60(o) Tractrix® Horn .... Hmmmm ........ However, I really don't want to modify the cabinet.... because once you do ... goodbye original value... But a RF-3 center channel speaker on top of each Chorus looks kind of awkward, but the improved sound quality is ... Killer ... Please consider all of this hypothetical, if you will, an exercise in " what if ?" ... If you fancy this sort of thing..... Thanks, John

Got it thanks, I understand the A+B channel combination switch selection, but there is only one L & R preamp output connection on the back of the Carver. I am only using the preamp section of the Carver. The Crown amp has variable independent L&R level controls, while the Acurus level is controlled with variable input volume from the preamp. Maybe I just need to find a multi -channel preout receiver, if there is such a thing?

Hi thanks, One example is the preout section of my old Carver stereo receiver, to my Crown amp for my Choruses and the same preout signal to my Acurus amp for my RC3II's. The Choruses don't have quite enough brilliance, i.e., drum cymbals, sound dull and flat. ( The Chorus tweets are working ) I have supplemented the Choruses with a pair of RC 3 II centers, set up as additional left and right front mains. They sit atop the Choruses. This may sound a little extreme, but it works... This is a temporary fix, until I can further determine the cause of 'lack of brilliance' in the sound, weather it be the speakers or even possibly the old stereo receiver. Another example would be using one preamp signal to drive the Choruses with the Crown amp and one preamp signal to drive my Quartets with the Acurus amp. My Carver receiver has the removable preout / main jumpers, to isolate the preamp and amplifier section.

Is it possible to use Y adapters and split my stereo preamp output to provide two L/R inputs for two different power amps? Ex.: Carver preamp out, to Crown power amp and to Acurus power amp. Or, what type of preamp equipment could I use, which would provide multiple outputs? How do you disconnect the power amp section of a 5.1 or 7.1 AV receiver?
