  1. Audiovox to purchase the Klipsch group i read it and got worried as i love KLIPSCH , someone mentioned his concerns like this ..... And Klipsch's steady march towards the basement continues... When Klipsch bought out API, they took three popular Canadian speaker brands and pretty much destroyed them. When's the last time you saw any Athena speakers (once a very popular, inexpensive brand). Oh, that's right, Athena basically exists in name only now, thanks to Klipsch. Energy speakers used to be highly regarded - the Veritas line was often mentioned in the same sentence with Revel and Wilson. Now, their entire market focus is on tiny "box" speakers that aren't even as good as the old Athena Micra6 package (which was a GREAT little 5.1 speaker package). Mirage used to get a lot of attention for their unique "omnipolar" speakers. Where's Mirage now? Oh, that's right, Orb speakers have basically taken all of their market and mind share, since Klipsch didn't see fit to market Mirage after they bought the brand. Klipsch did a TERRIBLE job with the API brands that it aquired and now, Audiovox can destroy the Klipsch and Jamo names, just like they did the RCA and Jensen brands. RCA, if you can believe it, used to be a highly respected brand. Remember that iconic "His Master's Voice" image of the dog staring into the gramophone? I'll bet most people associate that image with the RCA brand. Sure, that image's rights were used by a number of companies before RCA, but it was RCA that truly made the image memorable and that had a lot to do with their once high-standing in the audio world. Klipsch was already on the decline. Their decision to focus on lower prices to the detriment of sound quality (eg. the "Icon" line) was a clear indication of where they were already headed. Now Audiovox can turn them into a Walmart brand, which is pretty much the only place where you find RCA and Jensen products anymore. What a sad, sad world. Oh well, at least this is one way for companies who no longer give a flying eff to get out of the way and let the hungry speaker companies who actually care about audio quality have a shot at the market. i dont know if klipsch will stay as it is today or go down the drain .quadklipsh
  2. guys...... the two gladiators at daggers drawn today here in my living room are the 2230 and the MF A1. And as I just sat after warming em up for 45 min. and then playing a couple of tracks on both. the MF simply ruled. it walked over my favourite amplifier the 2230. simply more neater, more detailed, and separated. better quality all the way. price wise mf is 3 times expensive.....
  3. GOD i love the looks of these cabinets .and the way they say these speakers sound , always gets me goose bumps
  4. experts would agree, perhaps , but i dont think it does .some manufacturers design the paper cone indented .like some mirage i remember seeing in magz .
  5. Found some info here at the Klipsch website. The T50's are a 2-way speaker that was produced from 1989 - 1991 with a list price of $996. I heard that Tangents were sold to the Armed Forces personnel at military bases and weren't available at the regular sales outlets.... boy...im an AIRFORCE baby . just not USAF []
  6. They may have well been but cant be sure, from what i can tell they may have been in the store for quite a long time years at my guess, but the 2nd hand pair im looking at have never been used so that might be the better choice . here in our stores the usual sales guys demoing the speakers, know too little about how to drive speakers . they have little info . heck no idea what distortion is and how amps matter, when it comes to watts . they read the back of the amplifier/receiver and see the watts mentioned there and just tell us. they dont know which is better , a bigger amp or a smaller amp.. UMMV so all sort of guys play speakers in their shops for demoes and they do damage a couple of sets a month . i went to this shop the other day where they had opened up an RF7s horn . it was not making a sound . network ,they thought, no , it was blown . the amps they used were 70 watts yamaha dts amps. and they usually raise the volume high up to satisfy the customers . the next time i visited after 10 days i guess, , i couldnt tell difference , the same RF7 was in demo , he had it repaired . and was up for display. to my ears it was ok . to my heart it wasnt []

  14. rule out rats, biting at your woofers suspension system inside the fortes cabinets [*-)]
  15. luxman sq 505x or musical fidelity A1 guys , i know you would tell me to audition em first and decide myself , but that job would be tiring for the moment . and i just need quick ideas from those who have tried em before . though the two amps are both very nice sounding , i checked em with my fostex RM-800 monitors at my friends place , but the class A musical fidelity did show its superiority . better control better tonality and no spikiness nor harshness ( especially after it was warmed up enough to fry an egg on its top shield.) fostex are no good for bigger room. and wana pair the better amp with RF3s finally . hence matching is the issue im asking you for . any experiences
  16. perhaps i am a loser at this thread . no photos of speakers without grills for comparison on this one . []

  24. room dividers , lolz ... way to go russ.... im in no way in favour of so many bucks spent on a pair of electrostats , esp the ones i heard at a friends place . they were martin logans about as tall as my shoulders , and attached was a krell amp kav 300 i guess , and the cd player was a meridian. but the jackass had it all placed in a room that was hardly the size of a small toilet . perhaps 8x10 feet . and he said if id shift em to a bigger room id need extra amp power . i cant afford that.. well the sound was okay . but not mouth watering . he spent around 4 lac rupees . thats around 5grands . and i bet i could beat or atleast equal that kindof sound in less than 500 dollars spent on musical fidelity a1 , using my only RF3s . theyd rather surprise me more than his things
