I'm replacing my 2.1's sats with a pair of Klipsch Quintets. I'm getting them for $115. Then I'll use my pro sats for center channel.

Granted, the pro's sub does put out great sound and bass, for it's size. But I'm used to a lot bigger systems with a lot more power and a lot bigger speakers. At close listening positions and volumes the sub puts out ample bass, but turn it up and the bass just gets distorted. But it sounds exactly like what a 6 1/2" speaker would sound like at that volume with that much power. I don't know maybe my sub is not quite right and maybe there is a defect. But it does sound fine at low listening levels. I just wish it would not sound distorted at loud volumes. I think I'm just really picky and demanding of my equipment

If you want 5.1 HT, just get the set of 4.1's and then a pair of Klipsch Quintets ($100 at EBAY). Use the Quintets for right and left, one set of pro sats for surround and the other set for center channel. Just place the center channel speakers on either side of you monitor and have the Quintets further apart. That way you can have a bigger front soundstage and better sound for stereo too. Make sure you hook the center channel pros up to a half way decent amp too, otherwise the front 3 channels won't be voice matched very well. Oh and by the way, hook the center channel pro sats together in a series so that they run an 8 ohm load. Otherwise you might overwork your center amp. Or have each speaker hooked up to it's own channel on a 2 channel amp, and have a splitter so that the one channel cable coming from your soundcard splits into two RCA plugs. One for each channel on your amp. Any Questions?

And about this Micheal Jackson thing... It's not a ritual or whatever. I don't have many cds anymore and I borrowed that one from a friend so it's something new to listen to. Granted I have more than 1200 mp3's, but they don't sound as good as a cd does. But hey, you have to admitt, his old stuff is kinda catchy and funny at the same time.

Okay, the bass on my 2.1's doesn't fade away at higher volumes, it just gets sloppy. It gets sloppy even if I turn the sub all the way down and turn the main volume up to about 2/3. It's kinda messed up. I don't really think that should happen.

I've loved that song since the day I first heard it. The song is distorted to begin with and it's meant to sound like that. To do that song justice at high volumes, you need a very big system or just a very nice one. It sounded good on my old stereo system (but that thing was big) and it sounded awesome on my car system.

It's nothing against any of the pro medias, but I can almost guarantee that nobody would be able to get as much bass volume as you all like to say you have with the pro's. Granted there is great bass at low levels, but not great volumes of bass. When I turn my pro's half way up it just doesn't sound right. They sound absolutely great at low levels and I'm surprised by the bass at low levels. But I like my music loud and these pro's can't go loud enough and still provide clean clear sound. You all are probably going to hate me for writing that.

Do the 2.1's have BASH technology too?

OK yeah, It's a good foot warmer. They probably also make good book ends.

Hell yeah the first disc of HIStory is awesome!!!! That's what I was listening to when I signed up for this forum!! I listen to the cd everyday! And NHT speakers kick azz!!!! I just have NHT tweeters on my homemade speakers and they really do things for the overall sound! I'd love to have a whole set of NHT speaks. I think I'd freak out if I had a whole set of those!!

$20 isn't a bad price for mounting brackets like that. It's actually pretty good. I would've expected to pay at least $40.

Soundcity.com sells pro 2.1's and 4.1's and they ship worldwide. I'm not sure how it would cost to ship them to you. But hey, it's worth checking it out.

OK I've been comparing the pro's to my homemade speakers for a while now. I'm starting to think that I made a bad purchase here. The pro's sound good, but they do color the music really weirdly. The sub sounds fine with my homemade speakers, I just have to turn the volume down on it. My homemade speaks definitely provide a much less strained and a more accurate sound. I should have know that little speaks will never compare to at least a mid sized speaker. The thing is though, I don't want some big speakers sitting by my computer. That's why I got the pro's.

I tried hooking my homemade speakers up to the sub. They have 1" NHT tweaters and 5 1/4" B.I.C. woofers. This setup definitally has a bigger sound, but it just doesn't sound right. The sub doesn't match my speakers. I'm not sure what's going on here, I'm going to have to do some more testing.

The Radium codec is the professional version of the Fraunhofer encoder. Well, actually it's the illegal professional version. There's another version of the Fraunhofer and it sounds like **** .

Maybe your DVD prog is set to 6 speaker surround. If your prog thinks there's a center channel and there's not, then you won't get much dialog and other sounds that are supposed to come from the screen.

What are the titans like? What size drivers?

Yeah, get the cheaper cpu and just overclock it or put it on a faster bus speed.

rol1 monkey audio looks nice, but I don't have that much space on my hard drive to work with. I really should get a new hard drive, cause I hate it when I can hear the difference between a cd a mp3. Sometimes it sounds downright terrible.

I think the 2.1's for center is a great idea which will sound great and match your other speakers accoustics perfectly. All you have to do is get a y-adapter so that sound will come from both channels of the 2.1's. Then have the sat's on either side of your monitor and the stereo speakers (right left)further apart. This setup will work very good seeing as usually more than half of the sound from a movie is from the center channel. The sub from the 2.1's would not be useless either. It will just play the bass from the center channel (and there is bass in the center channel). My only suggestion is to get an extra powered sub for the LFE channel from the DTS or dolbby digital. Your pro's will not play the bass from that channel. They will only play the bass that is included with their respective channels. My plans are pretty much the same as your's, but I'm going to have 3 sets of 2.1's and a powered HT sub with a 5.1 channel soundcard.
