  1. Just going by Dave and Als advice. I'm building a version with Eliptrac 400 es500/es5800 to directly compare. Crossovers are done so we should get to give a detailed listen within 2 weeks. What driver did you pair the 240horn with?
  2. I thought we were first... Oh well. That said, where are you crossing to the HF? Dave said that the 240 begin to collapse up high and thus a 4500hz crossover point made sense. (Least I think was he said).
  3. No. That's why I took down. It's a ES500. Al just finished the ES300 and will be sending out soon.
  4. Part of my charm... not! I tried to fix... not sure how to. (Can you fix?) The bigger the speaker the more thought all aspects must get. (Kinda crazzy). I will just say that if you can have a parts present at t he same time it saves alot of worry.
  5. Back at it with the cornscalas. We are calling this Project Hulk... I believe its the 1st time the Eliptrac 240 horn is being used. What we have here is the Crites Cornscala bin (additional bracing and some adjustments to the volume), paired with Kappa 15C. Baffles were done for use by Dave… CNC cutting at it finest. The Bass bins ride on a Base-plate with the caster bolted down. The Base-plate will be bolted to the bottom of the base bin. Will allow for easy movement. Top Hats are Eliptrac 240 2” horn with BMS 4592ND-MID crossed at 300hz with an ALK ES300. The HF is handled by the Dave’s Contrac horn and the B&C DE120 crossed at 4500hz with an ES4500. The owner wanted the inside of the mouths to be highlighted… they will have grills so only be present when off. [/url]

    Small Kenzie Headphone amp

    Honey I shrunk the Kenzie
  7. If I could offer my advice... A new pari of Khorns soudns like an amazing option. Like many have sugested, tubes amps/pre are a fantastic companion. Tube amps in the 3watts-50watts is about all youll need. You might try to listen to both single ended and push--pull tube amps and decide from there. (Many here would gladly bring over some amps to listen to. (Get the speakers home and listen to what you have... then seek out a few amps/pre amps to try and see what fits. Lots of fun to be had for sure.
  8. give me a call... happy to share ideas on cabs sizes and different options. 323-868-9722. Single cabs are about 16" Split cabs vary but many chose Bob Crites original size of 24" deep. The depth issue is the biggest deciding point for people.
  9. Bit more progress... Cabs get picked up and set to finishing tonight :-).
  10. The owner has some truly incredible equipment and the space to make these horns sing... My personal listening space is 14x14... These would never fit, but in a 20x40 room.... pretty amazing. These pics were from ALK to show what to expect with a ES300. The ES4500 will have a tweeter attenuator as well (Yes to 3 boards as I understanding it). This project is not possible without the research of ALK and Dave. We build boxes and pull it together... no small feat but I didn't design a ES network which is mind bogglingly good or the horns which make the works best drivers sing. When its all done... the 15C will do 40-300 and thats it. The BMS (4591 or 4592? will be handle 300-4500 and the DE10 will do 4500 and up. Ive never heard such a pairing but I want to :-). Lastly, maybe we will roll it out with bi-amping. He has a JOB 225 that could be use for the LF and then go tubes up top.
  11. BTW hope my reply doesn't seem short. Trying to use taptalk on my phone bites. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
