That is a very good point. Or would I just be better off getting a cheaper sub like the sub-12 and getting a center too?
-
That is very true but I listen to more music than i watch movies so because of that would I be better off getting the sub first and then getting the center? Or would it still be most important to get the center? With my past systems, I have actually never had a center before because I have always thought it was not as needed because I mostly only listen to music. Is this true?

Would the RF-82s be able to handle the base for the time being? The problem is that if I buy one, it will probably be months until I could buy the other. I guess the other possibility is to buy a subwoofer of lesser quality (like the sub-12) and save for the center but I wouldn't want to skimp on the subwoofer. I know the subwoofer doesn't have to be the same brand, but for some reason I could not see myself buying anything but Klipsch. I guess that is a little problem that I have. []

So I decided that I am getting the RF-82s (I found a GREAT deal on them!). I am going to have another $500 to spend. I can either purchase a RC-62 or an RW-12d to add to my setup. Which one should I get?

Yeah, the salesman actually tried to hook it up, but he had no clue what he was doing. I knew wayyy more about it than he did.
-
What are they?

So I went to ultimate electronics and they had the RW-12d but it was not hooked up and they did not have a sub-12, so I was not able to listen to either of them. [] Before I purchase, does anyone else have any opinions on which sub (either the RW-12d or the sub-12) produces more base and which sounds better? I will be using it for 75% music and 25% HT. Any opinions? Thanks, Jake

You can get a new sub-12 for $350 at vanns.com

RF-62 pair: 799 shipped or RF-82 pair: 875 shipped. Which one should I get?

I have not heard the sub, but I am going to ultimate electronics today, hopefully they have it so I can listen to it! Thanks again for all of the great information! You have helped a lot! I am VERY excited! []

Thanks for the good information! I am planning on purchasing a new, more powerful receiver soon. The yamaha that I have now isn't terrible at 80w x 5 but I could use a little more power. I guess if I see any amazing deals on the RF-82s I will get those, but I am glad to know that if I end up purchasing the RF-62s (Which will most likely be the case) that I will be happy with them! I am assuming that the RW-12d that I am going to purchase will blend nicely with the RF-62s (fingers crossed!).

Thanks for your help you two! I really appreciate it! Mr. RF62: How do you like your RF-62s? I am debating on getting the RF-62s or the RF-82s....

Well, one difference between the RW-12 and the RW-12d is that the RW-12 has a db rating of 113 and the RW-12d has a db rating of 116. I guess thats why they put the bigger price tag on the RW-12d and not the sub-12 []
-
I wish I could compare the two, but the places around me do not carry them. I would have to purchase blindly =/ That is what I was thinking, and i could get the RW-12d for $500, or the Sub-12 for $350. I was leaning toward the RW-12d, but now I'm not sure.
-
Although, I would be comparing the RW-12d and the sub -12. Isn't the RW-12d an improvement over the RW-12?
-
Even though the RW-12d has a lower db rating?
-
Well, I would have a separate subwoofer, so I wouldn't think the subs in the RP-65s would be necessary?
-
Is there a big difference between the RW-12d and the sub 12? How do they compare?
-
The SF-1s would just be temporary rears until I could save up enough money to get something like the RS-42s, if that ever happens. But between the two setups that I listed, what would sound better? Any opinions?
-
Has anyone bought from there? Are they an authorized reseller? Is it safe to buy from them?
-
Which would you recommend? It would either be: RF-62 mains, RW-12d subwoofer, SF-1s as rears, and no center OR F-3 mains, C-3 center, S-3 surrounds, and a sub-12. Which would sound better in your opinion?
-
Is there a big difference? I can get a great deal on a RW-12d, Is it worth it?
-
Thank you! I, as well as many people on this forum, like to do as much research as I can before I make a big purchase! The room that the setup is in is a somewhat small room. It measures 18X14 feet and is a rectangular shape.

I am still very confused on this, I just can't seem to make up my mind. What types of differences would I hear between the F-3s and my old SF-1s? I don't know if I will hear a big enough difference between the speakers. I have a pair of old SF-1s with b&w surrounds, a polk subwoofer, and no center. I am planning on upgrading to a full 5.1 F-3 setup consisting of F-3 mains, C-3 center, S-3 surrounds, and a sub-12. I don't know if it will be worth it or not. For some background information: I am 13 years old and I only make about $100 a month. So, spending this amount of money is a lot for me. Thanks in advance, Jake
