  1. again, thanks for the suggetions, I think I could mount/build a shelf for some kg3.xx's on the back wall, I like that they are ported or have the passive radiator on the front. The room has it's own issues that are making the placement tricky.
  2. thanks for the replies so far, I do have another pair of Forte ll's but not the room to place them [:@] I had bought another pair to modify last year, w/Crites re-built cross-overs & new tweeter diaphrams (the Academy too) And they do sound great. so I have my original Forte ll's just sitting. I guess I'll start looking for some smaller KG's, It should save me some $$ as well. Thanks for the speaker wire info also I just couldn't remember the preferred gauge.
  3. I'm getting ready to update my HT room, & I need some rear surrounds to go w/Forte ll fronts, Academy center, & a RT 10d sub I was thinking about the RS series, 42/52 but have been reading some are not happy w/them & the academy? the room is 14 x 15 w/a cathedrial ceiling, the TV is mounted above the fireplace 4'8" off the floor, the center will need to go above the tv, the base of the center will be 6'10" off the floo. The peak runs perpendicularly from the screen. the HT receiver is Arcam AVR 300 w/the Forte ll's running off an Adcom 555ll amp this will also be the time for me to pull wires any advice on affordable speaker wire would be appreciated & rules of thumb as to how to calcuate lengths. (the wires currently hang on the walls or under the carpet, which is a liitle too dorm room for my wife's tastes) thanks in advance, jay
  4. I was & thanks for your reply, I definitely feel the crossover rebuild is beyond my skills, but will do the tweeter diaphragms
  5. thanks for the responses so far I don't really have an issue at all, I've just got upgrade-itis, & while researching in the forums for a center channel to match my forte ll's (I bought an Academy for that) I started reading how much everyone loved them, which made me feel very good to have bought them "way back when" I also started to read about how folks were saying that, "If you like these speakers out of the box, you gotta hear them after upgrading" so here we are, I bought another pair to play with & compare to my originals when done. I like the suggestion of doing the tweeters & having a listen & see how it goes
  6. I guess I just need to talked down from the ledge [*-)]
  7. Ok, I just picked a nice pair of Forte ll's specifically to upgrade. (I own a pair already am not brave enough to mess w/them) $305 off ebay, 470mi round trip, as I've read that the journey is part of the process[] I've been reading the forums & have seen posts about upgrading the x-overs & replacing the tweeter diaphrams.but now I realize "new" x-overs are more $$ than I thought. I read one post where it said $113ish to do this, that must mean that he did all of the rebuilding himself? please point me in the right direction. from Crites...this seems like something I can do myself, I'm just not sure of rebuilding x-overs myself Diaphragms for Klipsch Tweeters for Heresy II, Forte, Forte II, Quartet, Chorus, Chorus II, KLF Series, KG Series and Cornwall II. Shipping is $6.00 for a pair of these diaphragms in the US. Standard Poly Diaphragms: $44.00 PER PAIR ---- IN STOCK Titanium Diaphragms: $52.00 PER PAIR ---- IN STOCK KLIPSCH FORTE II REBUILD KIT FOR THE KLIPSCH TYPE FORTE II CROSSOVERS: $55.00 anyway thanks in advance for anticipated help... jay PS: I'm in north central MA & the homebrew will on me for any volunteers...
