  1. Totally disgusted with myself. 20+ years in 12v Car Audio and have seen more than my fair share of brand new electronics and accesories that are defective. So it turns out that the RCA cables (both sides) were bad. Odd part is when I unplugged from the receiver and touched the center pin to see if I was getting anything, I was which is what threw me off as I "***-umed" they were good to go and should have been for $50.00. Works great now just need to do a final tweak but will wait for the Toshiba Bluray I ordered. Thanks for your time and effort....... .
  2. All are set to 0 at this time as I want to borrow an SPL meter prior to changing any levels.
  3. I've tried various x-over settings on the sub and the higher I go the more I get. Tried cutting the front mains to THX 80hz. didn't work. Each speaker level can be adjusted separately but that's likely only off the 905's power, no where in the manual does it mention that if one ups the various speaker levels that it will affect the preout level ?
  4. Sub Out is set to yes in all modes i.e. THX etc. All other settings are currently at flat in both level and tone. When I perform a speaker level calibration all 5 are good to go but the sub isn't. Was thinking of perhaps trying speaker level in and see what happens to narrow things down.....
  5. Finally got my KSW 15 hooked up to the Onkyo TXNR905. It's working but very little/low output. Manual says to set sub level out on back of cabinet to roughly 10-12 O'clock which produces virtually nil. From the Onkyo I've tried Sub preout and both Front Main preout. Anyone been down this road qand experienced same ?

His contact info is there just a heads up, he's VERY busy and always behind the 8 ball even with 5 benches and tech's on the go all specializing in something. As it turned out nothing was even done to my BASH amp as the tech that knows them claims it was one of the best he's ever seen as far as assembly etc. Mentioned that once BASH expanded to 12v car audio that their quality improved a lot. . .

Here's my tech's response, must admit he's good and did all my repair/warranty work when I still owned my 12v Car Audio Shop. He does a lot of work on various units shipped from the USA as well. Morning His negative opinions maybe stems from bad experiences from his local joe blow “consumer” service ctr.---------we’ve experienced those before too from clients bringing us their butchered units…. We’re very thorough with all our workmanship----our entire service philosophy is modeled on the standards of the aerospace industry, which I’m a big fan of (hence our modified NASA co. logo since 1987). We service not only to repair 1 or 2 typicals complaints, but also perform preventative steps to avoid future failures years down the road, which not only affect reliability, but sound quality performance. Unless there was an outright fault to address, preventative maintenance that we perform on powered subwoofers/speaker are: ----replace any electrolytic capacitors with superior hi-temp. version types (sometimes low ESR types), ESPECIALLY those exposed to/adjacent to hot running components such as power resistors & voltage regulators (we’ve seen this MANY times on many brands----this is THE SOLE cause of problems in may KEF’s, Velodynes, KRK’s…..). ALSO we can simply bend away these heat-sensitive caps from adjacent hot parts by simply bending them away on their radial leads for more breathing room--------something that cannot be done during mass production by the robotic insertion machinery. ----for an extra charge, replace the MAIN large filter capacitors with top-quality versions (many hi-end mfgrs. that charge top-dollars for their subs actually use the cheapest garbage main no-name caps from China----pure junk that fails prematurely)----resolder/strengthen PCB connections >>sometimes the sole fault are fatigued/intermittent PC board connections that develop in the torturous vibration inside a sub, combined with some hot-running parts >> also hand soldering beats the mass production method of wave soldering for permanent long-term reliability. ----clean & treat all controls & switches (& sometimes relay contacts) with an anti-oxidant/preservant chemical (the signal path goes thru these & can easily oxidize after years of use----common on some models). This chemical prevents any further oxidation & enhances conductivity.----snug-up/tighten all fasteners (many times they loosen off esp. the driver------we were surprised to see some that were VERY loose, took over 1 turn to torque up snug!----perform frequency sweep test to reveals any resonant noises in the driver & cabinets-------on rare occasions it reveals an overstressed voice coil/spider, or a leaking cabinet edge that can easily be resealed. Worth taking the time to check….. 8. Recently purchased a pr and just noticed that each is missing one of the plastic ports. Suggestions on where to get 2 ?
  9. Anyone have a good link to proper speaker placement for 5.1. Currently in the process of clearing out my entire liuving/dining room to accomadate HT. Before I start punching holes into my hardwood floor to pull some wire and cables, was hoping for so experienced input..Do's and don'ts etc. I've checked several but they seem to focus on either DB or THX for the placement. Certainly not planning to rely on the Audessey to correct my potential mistakes.

Any comment, thoughts or suggestions regarding the BASH amplifier in this sub. My tech claims they are not bad at all but highly recommends that it goes on the bench every now and then for some PM. If this is not done it can become a costly experience should it fail.
