  1. The Stax headphones are electrostatic and the headphone adapter runs off the speaker outputs from the amp
  2. As a result of reading your postings and the McIntosh fever I find myself with a recently acquired MC-225 tube amp, a new C-15 preamp, and a pair of new Cornwall crossovers on order. Now I need to find a quality A-B speaker switch to use both my Cornwalls and Stax headphones...and I want to make sure it's of the same quality just in case I think I can hear the difference. Any suggestions? thanks...charles
  3. Thanks for the responses...I spotted a C-35 on ebay and bid $570...won the auction but they put it up for rebid because it did not meet the reserve price. All the knobs would have probably confused me...I would have never read the manual. Actually I'm looking for a good clean pre-amp to pair with a recently acquired MC-225 to power Cornwalls. After 10 years I've returned to vinyl so the phono stage is critical. Limited research indicates the C-15 is a good fit...any further thoughts are appreciated. If anyone is interested the Rega 25 with a Micro Benz Glider cartridge and a Nitty Gritty 1.5 record cleaner will bring smiles to any old vinyl you have or can procure.
  4. I'll be curious to see if I get it for $570...I did not meet the reserve. If Al likes it I'm sure I will too cheers...charles
  5. Anyone have any experience good or bad with this pre-amp...I had decided on a C15 but found this one on ebay thanks...charles
  6. I listened to both Cornwalls and Klipshorns back in the late 70s and chose the Cornwalls because they sounded more natural to me for rock and roll...more what I was used to. The Klipshorns sounded a bit better on classical and jazz. I'd chose between the two based on the type of music I listened to more.
  7. I'm about to re-energize a pair of Cornwall Is after reading postings to this site. I'll wrap the horns in rope caulk and probably get some updated crossovers from ALK. Question...I'm about to refinish the cabinets and plan to remove the horns and woofers to protect them. Any reason not to remove them and remount them...any one had any problems with this process. many thanks...charles
  8. I'm new to your site. I have a pair of Cornwall I's from the mid 70s and Adcom separates...amp is GFA 555. Although I've not used the system for 5 years the Cornwalls still sound wonderful...horns are an acquired taste. Question...I've always used plain copper 12 gauge monster speaker wire. The run between the amp and Cornwalls is about 8 feet. Are any of the new high end speaker wires worth the money? If so, have any of you found any that are? thanks...charles
