  1. The toshiba 16x9 tv that you are talking about. Is that an RPTV or a 34 in. direct view? I'm not a fan of Rear Projection so I bought the Panasonic 34 in. 16x9 HDTV and I really love it Letterboxed images like DVDs or even Laserdisc will look much better on a 16x9 TV. I guess it just depends on whether you watch mostly DVDs or TV.
  2. Well, the Denon is obviously a more well-known and more-respected receiver. But you might try visiting various home theater sites to look for reviews of the b&k. Try this one at audioreview: http://www.audioreview.com/reviews/AVReceiver/product_69092.shtml There are I think 8 fairly long and very positive reviews of thte b&k that might give you some information. Ultimately why don't you just listen to the two at your AV store. I'm sure a salesperson would be happy to hook them up. Bring your wife along and she can hear the difference.
  3. I managed to get a sound level meter from radio shack and calibrated all my speakers to 75db. Actually my whole system sounds better , but god damn, reference levels are loud! As for my RC-3, there's still no change in the tone. I tried everything you guys suggested and I don't think it's defective. I think the problem might be the location of the speaker. It's in a kind of cabinet so i think the speaker might be vibrating it at higher levels. Thanks for the tips!
