  1. Lowered to $175 including shipping CONUS.
  2. Well that doesn't help it sell... $200 including shipping CONUS for all this goodness!
  3. If quality is your name, this buffer is your game. Not only does this Grant Fidelity buffer have better quality control than your standard Chinese made products, but I have upgraded it make it best any tube buffer on the market. The tubes are 1952 Raytheon 6SN7 GTB, but I'll include the stock tubes as well. I have also upgraded all the signal capacitors to ANSAR PPA units, installed film bypass caps on the power supply caps, and bleeder resistors where needed to keep everything safe. I was using this between my old passive preamp and my amp, but my new passive preamp and amp combo does not seem to benefit from this in the signal path. This buffer does make a big difference and can take your system to the next level. Add an audiophile component to your system because who doesn't love tubes! The buffer will be sold in the factory box with factory foam, with factory accesories; also included will be a pair of 10in RCA jumpers made with DH Labs BL-1 cabling.
  4. VERY nice speakers! Good luck with the sale!
  5. I ran the amp all last night and it was only warm by this morning; Amp is running great and balanced.
  6. To ship this amp across the country would not be pennies as it's reasonably heavy, but it wouldn't cost too much either to most places CONUS.
  7. Forgot to mention power: 100wpc at 8 ohms, 200wpc at 4 ohms, stable for dips into 2 ohms (planar speakers).
  8. This is an original, factory built, unmodified Hafler DH200 amp. It was built late in the DH200 run and has the rounded heatsinks like the DH220. I currently have this hooked up to my B&W 804s with a passive preamp, and it sounds great. DC offset measures low, connectors are good, and case is good for a 20+ year old amp with typical scratches; all fins and body are straight with no damage. Last weekend I went through both boards to ensure there were no cold solder joints or loose connections. IMO this is one of the few SS amps that sound good with horns due to it's dual pair of MOSFET design, providing a warm and simple sound. I'm only selling to fund other projects as I have too many amps; comes with original printed manual. $150 + actual shipping via Paypal
  9. Upgrading the components in my old Forte's did improve the sound, but the biggest improvement that I heard was bi-amping using a SS amp for the woofers and a tube amp for the horn high/mids. I had previously built custom crossovers for the speakers, so I simply split them to allow for the two amplifiers. It had an awesome combination of powerful bass and the tube/Klipsch sound we all love. Send me a message if you want more info, but just thought I'd give you another option. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=69587&d=1335134344
  10. It looks like I have the option of three different Heresy models, all in like new condition, and all for the same price: the original, generation II, and HIP. Which would you choose and why? I would be augmenting any pair with a subwoofer and they would be powered by 40wpc EL34/6L6/KT88. What do you think?
  11. Thanks for the suggestions. I did upgrade the autotransformers with Crites units which I think did make a difference. I asked Klipsch customer service about about the Ti diaphragms, and they said they would not sell them to me because they weren't designed for my Fortes. Do you know any other way I can get a pair? You think the Chorus II has less bass, even though is has the 15" woofer with 15" passive in a larger cabinet?
  12. I current have a highly customized pair of original Fortes (titanium highs, Janzten crossovers and internal wiring, dampened drivers and horns, split cossovers for biamping tube highs and SS lows), and am wondering what people think would be an upgrade that has a similar sound; the all horn loaded Heritage stuff is nice, but I don't have the room, and don't like running a separate subwoofer, Klipschorn aside. I've been reading the Chorus II might be a good option, along with maybe the KLF 30? I'm also not ruling out the Cornwall, but I don't think a Forte II would get me much. My goal is a full range pair of Klipsch speakers that I'll use for mostly music, and that I'll have for years to come. Thanks for the suggestions!
  13. Thanks for the offer. I actually built upgraded crossovers myself using Jantzen audio caps, inductors, and resistors, and also using the upgraded autotransformers from Bob Crites. I then rewired all the drivers with Janten solid core speaker wire, and finally upgraded to Crites Titanium tweeter diaphragms. I did get the wiring worked out as I had correctly inverted the phase of the mid horn at the crossover, and the speakers sound fantastic! Thanks for all the help!
  14. I was rewiring my Fortes last night and on the right speaker just followed the stock wiring pattern. When I moved to the left speaker, I also started to follow the stock wiring, but quickly realized that the mid and tweeter horns were wired out of phase (opposite) to the right speaker. These speakers are used to me and who knows how many hands have been on them before I got them last year, but are the horns supposed to be wire opposite to eachother? I rewired the speakers with all drivers in phase of eachother, and will do some listening to see how they sound. Any help would be great!
  15. Just make sure that the amps are quiet enough for you. Like yourself, hum or hiss is unlistenable in an amp no matter how good the sound quality is. As far as comparisons go, the sound may actually be more determined by whether you use an EL34 or KT88 as the output tube. As good as SET amps sound wit Klipsch speakers, 50wpc also has a very nice and different sound. Try rolling some different types of outputs tubes through the amps if you have the option as that should give you a good feeling for the amp.
  16. I love the old Klipsch ads with character!
  17. I prefer the Cornwalls because they have the mid horn. I believe that as great as many of the Klipsch speakers are, the real strength of Klipsch and where their speakers excell is in models with mid-horns. It's a sound that can't be replicated with woofers or two way designs, and a sound that I will never be able to leave. [H]
  18. I haven't found a tube amp that doesn't work well with my Fortes, and that is a fun looking little amp. Congrats on the buy and the neat little piece of tube history.
